The Maple Grove carriage house was as perfect as it always has been! We’ve been to the property many times and even though we’re so familiar with it, it always exceeds our expectations. Everything was spotless and so comfortable, and the manager was so prompt with any questions. We love it there!
We had a lovely stay and celebrated our 30th anniversary here, and the 1000's region. The carriage house was perfect for my husband and I. Beautiful view of the river from the carriage house and from the waterfront property that is nicely situated right accross the road.
This is the perfect charming getaway and quaint, quiet town along the St. Lawrence River. Host was very easy to deal with check-in was smooth and we even got a tour of the historic mansion. Highly recommended if you want to visit 1000 island area, but not have all the crowds. Will 100% stay again

We loved our time there. The apartment was set up perfectly for our needs so that we could either go out to eat or make food right there. The bed was super comfortable, the views spectacular, and enjoyed the easy driving access to sites of Interest along the river.

So glad you enjoyed your stay. We were blessed to have you as our guest!
Thanks so much for the special tip! Lynn
We had a four day stay at this pleasant carriage house just steps from the St. Lawrence very close to the mouth at Lake Ontario. It was well-equipped and even had a portable ice maker. Lynn had some great suggestions for day trips and the location was ideal for doing them. The Antique Boat Museum in Clayton is a must see!
We enjoyed this weekend away and the Carriage House was a wonderful place to unwind and relax. It is beautifully decorated and has everything you may need. The bed was comfortable, the house had all the things you need, microwave, coffee maker, ice maker, etc, and was very clean. The location is great and close to everything! We would love to return in the future! Thank you Lynn!
As usual, our stay here was wonderful. We love the open kitchen and our view of the River. The carriage house was clean and tidy. The weather was fantastic and we can't wait to come back again! Joel and Marcie Beaton
The apartment is extraordinarily attractive in every way. It is beautifully furnished with many antiques and all necessities for comfortable living; the setting, with frontage on the St. Lawrence River, is uncommonly lovely; and the place is exceptionally quiet. Cape Vincent is charming and friendly, and the Thousand Islands area is breathtaking. We were completely happy with our choice of accommodations.

Thank you so much for your kind recommendation. We look forward to having you return next year! Lynn
The property is beautiful and the location is superb. The Carriage House is very well equipped and beautifully furnished. At first glance, it appeared very clean, but we soon noticed it was quite dusty and the floors were dirty. Our communication with the owners and the property managers had been good - but then the manager was nearly 30 minutes late arriving at our agreed-upon check in. So - very good, but not perfect.

Dear Laura,
Thank you so much for letting us know that the Carriage House needed additional cleaning. We would have been happy to address the issue when you were staying in the Carriage House, had you told us then. We shared your review with our cleaner and expect an improvement in her service. Lynn and Bruce Taylor
We absolutely LOVED this place! We stayed in the carriage house. It was clean and elegant and fully stocked. The large deck overlooking the grounds was our favorite part. We enjoyed strolling through the garden areas. It was private and secluded. We loved walking across to the river to watch sunsets. Truly the perfect spot! Would definitely return and highly recommend! Only minor suggestions are to get a coded lockbox to access on your own arrival time (and as the key was tricky) and set the arrival time to standard 3pm instead of 5pm. Also, reduce the paperwork required (and no copies of driver licenses required) and make it online only communication all direct through VRBO without mailing paperwork.
This delightful place has a beautiful kitchen area with modern, useful appliances. The bathroom is spacious with two sinks and the living area is pleasant. A nice deck out the back provides both privacy and a place to relax. The backyard has lots of trees and flowerbeds. (A chaise lounge would have made it perfect!). The short walk down to the river is lovely and peaceful by the water. (Bring a few beach chairs if you want to sit by the water). The only drawback for us was the queen-size bed, but we were able to use the fold out couch. We had spectacular bike rides and the area is very bike friendly. We never did get the TV to work, so perhaps a few directions would be good. Also, just be aware there are 14 steps up to the apartment if you have any mobility issues (we didn't mind it at all)
This is a five star place and we'll definitely return next year!

Charming with conditions
This was a delightful apartment in a lovely area. The rooms were beautifully decorated and immaculate. We rented at the last minute and the owners were prompt with responses even though there were some communication problems which were entirely our fault. My only complaint is the rental agreement we were required to sign. It was full of what we thought were petty conditions such as not placing glasses on furniture without coasters, no drinking red wine, no wet towels on the furniture or floors, closing windows if it rains, locking the door when you leave, strict stipulations on where to park, and not placing anything heavier than 20 pounds on parts of the counter. We were almost afraid to sit down. I understand that the home has been lovingly decorated and furnished and the owners want to keep it in top condition. However, we felt we were treated like second graders with a list of rules from the teacher.

Most of our house rules are as a result of surprising and disappointing experiences we have had with a few other renters. Examples include: damage to antique furniture from moist glasses when coasters weren’t used; red wine spilled on an expensive light colored upholstered couch ruining it; windows left open in the rain with resulting damage to wood floors; wet towels left on antique wood furniture damaging the finish. Unfortunately, not every guest is as knowledgeable and considerate as the rating guests were, so we have house rules to hopefully prevent damage to our property and provide parking guidance to our guests when the main house is rented.
The main objective of our trip was to watch ships traverse the St Lawrence and Lake Ontario. We were not disappointed! Thought the water access was across the road, it was private and quiet. We saw numerous boats each day.
The carriage house was perfect for my husband and I. If stairs are difficult for you, the carriage house is not for you (a full flight to get to Apt). We had no issues with this. The balcony overlooked a peaceful backyard, with some wildlife. We saw a gaggle of turkeys at one point. There are also several bistro type tables and chairs around the property and beautiful flower beds.
If we chose to, there was a very nice BBQ grill at our disposal. The kitchen was stocked with anything we needed (we did not need much as we ate out) but the ice machine was very handy.
We were offered chairs to use by the water, though we brought our own, we were asked several times if there was anything we needed. Very attentive owner.
I highly recommend the carriage house to stay if you are looking for privacy. Thank you Liz, Sylvia and Lynn. You all were wonderful :)
The property is beautiful and within walking distance of the shops and places to eat in Cape Vincent. We really enjoyed sitting out on the bench overlooking the river. It was the perfect quiet getaway
We enjoyed staying in the carriage house. It is a beautiful and comfortable property. We will for sure stay again the next time we are in the area, and probably even book the big house with our entire family. The host was so friendly and easy to work with. Thank you for sharing your property!
Beautiful…Quaint with modern amenities…perfect location…spectacular grounds…would give 10 stars if I could
