Autumn House is located at the crest of Shoreby Hill which rises above the scenic harbor facing Newport. Harbor beach, marina, restaurants and shopping within walking distance.

Beautiful Mackerel Cove beach, one mile from the house, is perfect for swimming.

The property offers 4,934 square feet of living space, with five bedrooms, three fireplaces, central air, in-ground pool ( open Memorial Day - mid September) sauna, internet, a sixty foot front porch, dining terraces, spacious rooms, a unique pub room, separate office space above the garage and beautifully landscaped grounds.

There are both formal and informal dining rooms, a chefs kitchen with Wolfe six burner stove, oven and Italian tile counter tops.

The first level includes the pub, formal dining room, center hall/library with wood burning fireplace, living room with fireplace, kitchen, butler pantry, small tv room/den with fireplace, and informal dining/breakfast room, powder room with shower.

The second floor is comprised of five spacious bedrooms to include three queen bedded rooms and two twin bedded rooms which can be converted to king size beds.

There are additional rollaway or air beds if needed. Jamestown ordinance limits the number of persons 12 years and older to ten so any additional guests must be under 12 years old. Enjoy historic Newport which is a short ten minute drive or ride the seasonal ferry over to Newport across Narragansett Bay.

Explore the islands scenic Beavertail State Park and lighthouse, bird sanctuary, windmill, history, farms and more.

Autumn House is a fabulous home for gatherings due to the wonderfully spacious floor plan, proximity to the village and Newport, pool, sauna wicker furnished front porch, Lynx grill and outdoor dining options on the porch, terrace or patio.

Great family retreat

Shoreby Hill provided a tranquil retreat for my family. 10 of us stayed a week and enjoyed staying on the property or walking into town. The property had everything we needed and Susan & Howard were gracious and responsive hosts. I couldn’t recommend the property enough. A piece of heaven!

This property is gorgeous! Quiet and peaceful with a beautiful inground pool and huge front porch with comfortable lounge chairs to read a book. The ocean is a short walk down the hill where you can ride the ferry or rent a kayak. We loved spending time at the property. Too pretty to leave!

Perfect House for Whole Family

This property is fantastic! The actual property is more impressive in person. It was very conveniently located in Jamestown. Short walk to all the restaurants and beach. Great BBQ, huge pool and fully stocked kitchen was a huge plus. For 12 people there was even space for everyone to have quiet time when needed. Howard and Susan do a great job renting out their house and were always available to answer any questions. We will be back!

Very nice (and large) front porch and pub for socializing, and a nice pool area in the backyard. A bit dated, but clean and nice overall, and a short walk into the village. The owners are responsive and helpful with any questions. We love Jamestown and have close friends in the village. It's a wonderful place to vacation, and you can pop into Newport on the ferry without any trouble at all. Highly recommended.

Wonderful Family Vacation

We had a fabulous family week in Jamestown in this beautiful historic home! Howard and Susan greeted us when we arrived to answer any questions. The home was conveniently located making it easy to walk to the village, the playground and the harbor. Short drive away from Mackerel Cove Beach and the Beavertail Lighthouse. The kitchen was well stocked to cook family dinners and the outdoor BBQ and pool were amazing! Family Vacation

Our extended family and dog had a relaxing and fun week together at Shoreby Hill. The house is large and very comfortable with a great front porch, heated pool, grill, and numerous places to sit both indoors and outdoors. The property is located in a very nice quiet neighborhood that is within walking distance of the town. The closest beach is readily accessible by bicycle or a short car ride. Newport is just over the bridge about 15 minutes away. We really enjoyed our time at Shoreby Hill and hope to return in the future. Thanks to Howard and Susan, who were great hosts!

This was our 2nd year vacationing at this beautiful family house!

This home is so comfortable for my family of 8 adults and 4 grandchildren. Plenty of space to get away from and spend time with each other. The heated pool is a plus -we all enjoyed it throughout the week. There are 2 beaches very easy to get to. Restaurants in Jamestown and Newport are wonderful! I would love to rent it again for next summer however we have a family wedding to plan! In essence, if you have a large family I highly recommend this vacation home - plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms- second year in a row and my family enjoyed it even more than last year!! Thank you Howard and Susan for being truly great hosts!!

A Wonderful Family Vacation!

We had a total of 8 adults and 4 children at this lovely Shoreby Hill Standish home. Throughout the week everyone was very comfortable -plenty of rooms to escape if you needed to -and the gathering rooms were spacious for my entire family to enjoy our time together. My four grandchildren were ecstatic the entire time spending hours in the heated in-ground pool and just hanging out playing games and being silly!! The adults couldn’t help but feel relaxed in this spacious home. It had plenty of space for all of us to be together in any of the rooms. We also went to two different beautiful beaches only 20 minutes away- easy commute. The owners are wonderful people and so accommodating. They made you feel right at home. I can go on and on but in essence this home was ideal for my family of twelve! I have already booked it for July 2022!

What makes this property unique

The unique benefits of Autumn House are that there are very few homes within the village that offer central air conditioning, a swimming pool, three fireplaces, a sixty foot wicker furnished front porch, corner location and such beautiful grounds.

With five bedrooms, the house accommodates ten plus extra beds for children under 12 and a crib & porta crib

You will enjoy being able to walk down the hill to the harbor, restaurants, shops and seasonal ferry to Newport without having to drive into town.
