Sandstone: cozy, clean, secluded cabin for making memories!
***Woman Owned and CLEAN! Furry friends welcome with $95 pet fee*** Secluded, Sandstone was constructed on the quarry location of the farm property, where the old-timers split the mountain’s sandstone rocks to make the foundation stones of their cellar and house. Their excavation holes are visible from the cabin and some ‘scrap’ cuts of stone lay on the hillside still. We thought that was so cool, so we carved out a place for Sandstone too. This peaceful piece of WV heaven will comfortably accommodate up to 4 memory-making guests and up to 2 furry friends with one $95 pet fee!

We had an amazing time! The cabin was beautiful, nice and clean. Very private and secluded. The stars at night were absolutely breathtaking. We had no issues whatsoever! Just make sure you have an all wheel drive car as there is a mile long dirt road to the cabin and a very steep gravel driveway at the end.
My husband and I and our 18yr old daughter who is home for college break our 2 dogs stayed here for Christmas. The cabin was exactly what we were looking for: quiet, private and secluded so our dogs could explore w/out crossing paths with other folks or their pets. The cabin was exactly as marketed and was very clean and cozy. Kitchen was equipped with all the essentials and we were able to prepare a full Christmas meal just as we would have if we were home. Stargazing at night was the best I’ve seen. We very much enjoyed our stay and the communication with the owners. Would definitely stay again and recommend to others.
My husband and I loved staying here for a weekend getaway just the two of us. It was exactly the relaxing country atmosphere we were looking for to reconnect without our children present. The only thing that could've made it better would've been a hot tub, but that would have just been extra decoration on an already deliciously decorated cake. We enjoyed sitting around the fire pit outside, talking, and relaxing with each other. Thank you for allowing us to stay in your cozy cabin retreat!

Be well!
The cabin is very spacious and well appointed. It has all the amenities one could want for a vacation, whether you are staying in or want to venture out to see the beautiful land surrounding it. Cheryl and Derricks are the best hosts, communicative, proactive and willing to offer information and assistance. We had another amazing stay this year visiting this area. I highly recommend Cheryl and Derrick’s properties to anyone who wants to get away from the daily life and be immersed in the wonderful wilderness.

Always a pleasant experience to be Stacy’s host! Courteous guests who take great care of the cabin, communicate well- always a pleasure to have.
My husband and I had an amazing stay at Cheryl’s property. The original place we rented had some water issues so prior to our arrival, we were contacted and offered the Deerling which happened to be bigger with no additional charge. I really appreciated that, it was very nice and accommodating. The place was immaculate. So clean, cute decor, and very secluded which is exactly what my husband and I were looking for. We were able to bring our dog and he loved all the space to run around and explore outside. We are absolutely planning to unplug and come back next year.

Thank you for being our guests! We appreciate your willingness to stay @The Deerling instead of Sandstone, yet it sounds like that actually worked out really well for you; I hope you’ll consider booking with me again some time!

Beautiful and serene location. The cottage was so inviting with attention to every detail. The decor was so cozy and warm. I made homemade waffles for breakfast and we sat on the back porch admiring the magnificent view. The kitchen has everything you could possibly need to whip up a lovely meal. We enjoyed some walks around the property with my Granddog "Thunder". Mostly we just relaxed and recharged! Thank you to Derrick and Cheryl for the best mini- vacation ever! Can't wait for our next stay!
My best friend and I chose Sandstone for our annual girls trip this past Labor Day weekend.
While the dirt road was semi terrifying to get there, once we arrived, we had an amazing time. The space was perfect for wine drinking and self-care we planned to do. The rain changed our plans to use the fire pit, but even with the rain we still say outside for tea. Thank you to Cheryl and Derrick! You were very communicative and made the process very easy and enjoyable!
Very nice, secluded cabin in the woods. Far enough away from a gravel road that didn't have much travel at all to feel secluded. Had good wifi, tv and all the things you need including full bathroom and kitchen. Well kept, very clean and seemed to be a pretty new build, (maybe only a year old or so). Close enough to the iga grocery store to get food to cook when you are not traveling around. Not far from old swiss village helvitia, historic bulltown civil war battle site and wildlife game reserve. I say not far in my opinion of growing up in this region and being used to this distance of commutes to pretty much to and from everywhere and terrain. We had a great long weekend away here for our wedding anniversary and would love to stay here again sometime.
Quaint cabin in a beautiful, secluded location. The two bedrooms would easily accomodate two couples. All the normal amenities plus a few that aren't listed (including, but not limited to, the enormous bathroom, walk-in shower, electric fireplace, stairway mood lighting, etc.). Hosts were extremely helpful for this noob VRBO user. One thing: this cabin is out in the woods (kind of the whole plan), meaning that you need to fill car tanks well in advance of arrival. Also, plan on packing in all the foodstuffs that you'll need, because local grocery options are limited. Absolutely stunning property. And who doesn't want to be serenaded by owls?
My boyfriend and I took the trip up to West Virginia for a little Summer getaway with our dogs, to escape the FL heat, gator-infested waters, and the craziness of everyday life. We had such a great time staying in this, beautiful secluded cabin and disconnecting from the world for a little while! We were surrounded by so much nature- the cabin is hidden on a street paved with gravel, far away from any noises the road brings. Our dogs enjoyed exploring around the cabin, and we enjoyed the peace of mind, not having to worry about a busy road, letting them do their own thing in the yard space, watching from the porch. Cheryl provided us with some extremely helpful travel info prior to us making the drive, as there is very limited service travelling there. The property itself was very clean upon arrival, and such a cozy, beautiful, little cabin. We could not have asked for a better serene getaway with our pups! We look forward to returning in the future!

My husband and I are both from around the neighborhoods where Sandstone is built. Sandstone is our 2nd STR build, because we love crafting spaces together to share what we are passionate about: history and nature.
Why they chose this property
Sandstone belongs to my parents' dream of building cabins on this property. It sits on the edge of the field on the family property, where my dad's cattle used to graze and his family's sheep before them.
What makes this property unique
We chose this specific location because of the rich history in this exact spot, where the old timers cut and quarried the mountain's sandstone into building blocks for their foundations.
