Mountain views or lakefront? At Overlook at Hidden Lake, you don’t have to choose.
This custom-built, three-level North Georgia retreat combines sweeping Rich Mountain views with direct lakefront access, a private dock and expansive outdoor living — all in Cherry Log, conveniently located between Blue Ridge and Ellijay.
Designed for families and friends to spend time together without feeling crowded, the cabin sleeps up to 11 guests with two king bedrooms, one queen bedroom, an open loft with three twin beds and a queen sleeper sofa in the lower-level living room.
Inside, you’ll find a spacious open kitchen and great room, multiple gathering areas, fireplaces, a game room with pool, air hockey and arcade games, high-speed fiber internet, and plenty of room to relax across three levels.
Outside is where Overlook at Hidden Lake really stands apart.
Three expansive decks offer mountain and lake views from nearly every level, with outdoor dining, lounge areas, fireplaces, hanging daybeds and a private hot tub overlooking the scenery.
A lighted path leads down the hillside to Hidden Lake and your private dock. Guests can use the supplied kayaks and canoe, fish from the lake, relax in a hammock, or gather around the lakeside Solo Stove.
The walk to the lake includes timber steps and short level sections built into the hillside. It is manageable for most able-bodied guests who are comfortable with stairs or moderate hiking, but may be challenging for guests with limited mobility.
The cabin is easy to reach. All roads to the property are paved, and 4-wheel drive is not required under normal conditions. Parking is available for up to five vehicles.
Other guest conveniences include high-speed fiber Wi-Fi, a full kitchen, traditional drip coffee maker and Keurig, washer and dryer, gas grill, and an EV charger available upon request.
Overlook at Hidden Lake is close enough to enjoy the best of North Georgia while still feeling tucked away. Spend the day exploring downtown Blue Ridge or Ellijay, hiking to waterfalls, visiting wineries and orchards, tubing the Toccoa or riding the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway.
Or don’t go anywhere at all.
Some of our guests’ favorite days are spent having coffee overlooking Rich Mountain, paddling the lake, playing games downstairs, grilling dinner on the deck, soaking in the hot tub and ending the night around the fire.
Overlook at Hidden Lake was designed for exactly that kind of time together.

This home had the most accurate description of any home we have rented! Everything was exactly as described, and it was all wonderful.Overlook still had a new home smell when we walked in. The entire home was meticulously clean and well maintained. There wasn't a single item that didn't work. Many times we have found that ceiling fans, and their remotes, will not work correctly but that wasn't the case here. There were three couples staying here and we all had the same impression of the rental, thoroughly impressed.Excellent lake and mountain views from every rear window and all three levels of the deck. The sofa swings were a great spot to relax and watch the sunrise. The pool table, air hockey, and two video game machines were all in great condition. There is a steep walkway down to the lake which is well worth the effort. There is just too many perks to go over with this place! Kayaks, canoe, two fire pits, outdoor fireplace and seating, large well stocked kitchen, new laundry area, beautiful master bedroom and bath,...Owner was very easily reached and super helpful with local info. We are already planning a return visit.
We loved this property so much that we actually messaged the owners and asked if we could stay another day (thankfully, it wasn't booked and they were happy to accommodate). I've never done that on a vacation. That is how much we loved this place. The view and location is just as great, if not better, than the listing photos. The house itself is well designed. The three porches provided endless fun. Between going down to the lake, playing pool or cornhole, and the hot tub my kids were constantly entertained. At night we enjoyed watching a movie out on the porch. We honestly did not want to leave the house, it was just so relaxing and peaceful. The house was also very clean and well organized. We've stayed in quite a few rental properties and most of them are designed for renters (cheap furniture, etc). This place seems like it was designed with no expense spared. Everything from the dishes, furniture, and blankets felt like what you would buy for your own home. They also provide a lot of consumable items such as tide pods, dish soap, k-cups, etc. Many places I have stayed make you bring your own or they give you like 1 tide pod. It just truly felt like the owners wanted us to enjoy the stay. The steps down to the lake are quite steep. We knew this but keep it in mind if you have young kids. Its worth the trek though, as the view is incredible and this house has the best view on the lake!

About the host
Hosted by John Ball
Our family fell in love with the North Georgia mountains more than a decade ago. After years of coming back to Blue Ridge, Ellijay and Cherry Log, we decided to build the kind of mountain home we always wished we could find ourselves — a place where the view, the lake and the house all felt equally special.
Overlook at Hidden Lake was built around the way we like to vacation: mornings with coffee overlooking the mountains, afternoons on the lake, evenings around the fire, and plenty of space for family and friends to simply spend time together.
We’ve tried to think through the little details that make a stay memorable, from the private dock and kayaks to the hot tub, fireplaces, game room, daybeds and outdoor gathering spaces.
We genuinely enjoy sharing this place with our guests and hope you leave with the same appreciation for North Georgia that brought our family here in the first place.
Why they chose this property
Hidden Lake is one of those rare North Georgia settings that gives you the best of everything at once.
Overlook at Hidden Lake is perfectly positioned between Blue Ridge and Ellijay, close enough to enjoy both towns while still feeling peaceful, private and tucked away in the mountains.
What makes this location special is the combination itself: the cabin sits on a mountain, directly on the lake, with sweeping views across Rich Mountain. That mix of elevation, water and scenery is difficult to find in one property.
You can spend the day exploring restaurants, wineries, orchards, hiking trails and downtown shops, then come back to a quiet lakefront setting that feels completely removed from the crowds.
For us, this location is the reason we kept coming back to North Georgia—and ultimately why we chose to build here.
What makes this property unique
What makes Overlook at Hidden Lake unique is what we like to call the trifecta: mountain setting, private lakefront, and sweeping views all in one property.
More than 2,700 square feet of deck space lets you enjoy that setting from almost every level of the cabin, whether you are having coffee in the morning, relaxing in the hot tub, or gathering outside in the evening.
A lighted hillside path leads down to the private dock, where guests can fish from the dock or shoreline, or take out one of the two kayaks or the canoe.
Our family especially loves the fishing here. The kids have caught trout, bass, and bluegill right at Hidden Lake, and it has become one of those simple parts of the stay that guests tend to remember.
It is rare to find a North Georgia property that gives you the elevation and mountain views of a true mountain cabin while also putting you directly on the water. That combination is what makes Overlook at Hidden Lake stand out.
