We rented this cabin to participate in the Colon Cancer Riding for a Reason side-by-side trailhead event at Bass River Resort, and despite the distance to/from the resort, we had a blast driving the backroads and exploring Steelville. This cabin has all of the comforts of home and was very relaxing at the end of the day, after bouncing around in the side-by-side all day. It has convenient access in/out, and I was able to turn my 16’ trailer around fairly easily in the cut-de-sac. The hosts were also very responsive to communicate with. Would definitely rent from here again!
Loved this! Needed a quick getaway from the city. The place is well maintained and CLEAN. The host was responsive and we will definitely be coming again! Thank you!
The house was decorated very nice. The kitchen was fully stocked with pans, dishes andutensils! The shower caddy had a hairball and under the sink was disorganized and gross. Overall it was great. This would be amazing in the summer time!

**Review:**
"We had a wonderful stay at this charming house! It was not only beautifully decorated but also impeccably clean. The hosts provided an abundance of amenities that made our stay even more comfortable.
My husband and I booked the Three Rivers Retreat for a weekend float trip, and it was perfect! We booked the float with Garrison's and for a small fee they picked us up at the front door and dropped us off after. The house was exactly what we needed for just the two of us! We can't wait to come back.
Beautiful and unique cabin on a large private and wooded lot. Everything you need for a peaceful getaway! They’ve thought of everything to keep their guests happy and comfortable.
This quaint house was delightful! The hosts thought of every detail to make a stay comfy, enjoyable, & safe (solar lights greeted us cheerily when we arrived after dark and lighted the path down a slight decline to the door-a real comfort to ladies!)The back deck overlooked a forest- peaceful & quiet with little traffic on the road out of sight. There are narrow stair-steps leading to upstairs bedroom, and step-ups leading to the bedroom and kitchen - not a problem if you have young legs & good vision. :) We enjoyed our vacation here and would gladly return to 'The Little House in the Big Woods of Missouri'!
Not too far from downtown, this small but comfy home was perfext for our family of 5. Very cozy! Great location! And privacy with room for lids to run is always a plus! Thank you!
This house is so cute and absolutely quaint and perfect for a weekend float trip. It had everything we could need and more! Thank you for sharing your home with us. We take many memories with us and look forward to booking again next year!

Cute and Clean, not what we expected
Area and outside were super cute, house was clean however the layout of the house was very abnormal and not reflected in pics. Small little rooms, then step ups into the next room of every room. The queen bed upstairs was in a very small room against walls. open area behind a fireplace and side area that needed closed off or something. Bathroom was stocked very well with towels.
Overall the stay was great. Nice and secluded and well kept. Standard Missouri bugs but that is part of being out in the woods. Only minor things were the host book suggests hiking the grounds but we could not locate and marked trails. The one we did think we found led us to another cabin and we were not sure if we were still on the property. Hosts also encourage use of the fire pit with the provided wood but we did not locate a stack of wood or we would have spent a night at the fire pit.
The bed was very comfortable and hosts were fast to respond to any questions we had. Steelville was am amazing community and this trip was outstanding. We highly rwcommend staying here.
If you've never been to the city of Steelville, you should check it out. Friendly town, absolutely delicious food, art, and scenery... The house truly is a "retreat" because it has a secluded feel. It wasn't super clean (there were pieces of dog food in the middle of the floor and plenty of dust and cobwebs) and it's buggy which is probably to be expected in the woodsy setting. Hanging out on the deck is sort of like being in a tree house, so that was fun. Coffee was provided. Hair dryer was not provided. The house has some funky unfinished and junky spots, but it has a cool vibe. Sometimes wifi was iffy, but we didn't have problems with streaming on the tv.
Previous review said hairdryer added, no hair dryer
Amenities said soap and shampoo, no soap and shampoo
No smoke detectors, felt uneasy
3 bedrooms listed, 2 bedrooms and Fotan in living room. Fotan super uncomfortable.
Obvious a worker there recently, left sawdust and closet doors on the front porch.
Cigarette butt in outside ashtray-, not ours
Inside book says enjoy firewood, no firewood
No sponges to wash dishes, only one dish towel
No paper towels in kitchen, later found paper towel stash after buying from grocery store
Purchase water hose when purchasing wood for fire incase the fire lost control
Broke off metal stake in yard near swing, ruined a pair of shoes when I stepped on. The stake was covered by recent leaves. We made a pile of rocks to cover the stake.
There is a stump on the walking path with barb wire sticking out of it. Can’t see it in the dark.
Swing is poorly rigged, accident waiting to happen.
Ring doorbell to monitor your coming and going.
Multiple small levels walking through the house. Tough at night walking to the restroom.
Furniture is well used and appears to all be at least second hand.
Grill was great
Plenty of kitchen ware
Hot water was plenty
Heater worked great
Enjoyed the seclusion
Fire pit was nice
Plenty of bath towels
Coffee provided was nice touch
Nice back porch area
We checked out 3 days early.

Better than sleeping in a tent
So first of all, it’s a cute cabin in a pretty good location for a fair price. However, there were a couple of draw backs. The beds! They are terrible!! The upstairs bedroom is in an attic that has been converted with one window ac unit up VERY narrow stairs. And it’s a full bed on a twin built frame- NOT a queen. The main bedroom is also a full bed - NOT a queen, and a taco/sunken mattress at that. The double sized pull out was BROKEN. Sleeping there (and let’s be honest, that is 75% of what you do at the house because otherwise you are out exploring) really sucks. Also, while you have 20 acres; it’s useless. There is so much barbed wire it’s a hazard. We did have small children (almost 2 year old and a 4 year old who almost ran into the wire at the driveway head) but it was our dogs we were most worried about. We always get acreage on vacation because we have a GSP that needs to run. Unfortunately, he stayed on leash the whole visit because he would have chased a deer right thru the wire and ripped himself open. An undisclosed disappointment for sure. Finally, bugs. Expect a lot of bugs. The front door doesn’t seal so every morning there are bugs all over. They follow the light in around the edges and camp out so you can step on them in the am and wash them down the sink. Overall, the cleanliness was so so. Not great but I suppose there is worse. Mike was very quick to respond to our concerns but he didn’t do anything about them either. This cabin is a roll of the dice.
This house has everything: beautiful property, perfect little house, generous amenities, perfect outdoor spaces and gracious hosts. If you want natural beauty, peace and quiet and ultimate privacy, this is your spot.Let me start off by saying we had an incredible time. We found the back deck to be our sweet spot and hung out there most of the time. You find yourself sitting surrounded by trees in total quiet. Great table with chairs and an umbrella made it really comfortable. Maybe because it was spring and we got lucky, but the bird population among the trees was incredible. I honestly felt like I was in a bird sanctuary. It was amazing. The house was extremely clean from top to bottom, lots of towels, very comfortable beds, extras like games and puzzles, you feel at home as soon as you walk in the door. Also what’s cool about this property is the yard- the front yard has a fire pit and then the side yard has string lights hanging among the trees (and hammocks hanging too) that look awesome when they turn on (automatic timer) at night for you like magic and I know kids would love playing and exploring that area.We wanted to get away and get a lot of quiet, no town noise, low contact with people, and this house was perfect. We didn’t hear or see a person or hear town noise the entire time we were there. Not to mention, amenities were generous and the house is so pretty and cozy. You will love relaxing here. We know we did.
This was just the quiet space I needed. The house is kind of quirky in its layout (a few additions along the way). The deck overlooking woods was wonderful, and the front yard with fire ring was nice.
