Outer Banks Ocean-Side Vacation Home

ONLY 120 feet from the Beach. Enjoy the breathtaking ocean views and the unique decor while vacationing. Unlike many of the newer 'mansion' beach houses, this house maintains the feeling of a true beach house while providing a comfortable vacation center for beach lovers.

This beach house is one of the original houses built in ocean sands - it is older, more rustic and a traditional ocean house. No home theaters, music studios or elevators.

Please pass us by if you want a high end hotel.

The first floor features 4 bedrooms (each with its own half bath and sharing a shower/bathtub with a neighboring room), and a full laundry room. There is also a Private Hot Tub and a Gas BBQ Grill, along with a hanging swing and deck chairs. The second floor offers the large great room, kitchen, and dining area, as well as gorgeous southeastern ocean views. There is also a fifth bedroom with full bathroom access. The kitchen has modern appliances and is of an open design. Sunbathers will enjoy the large wraparound decks on both floors. The third floor consists of a game room/sun room fully equipped and ready for some fun with a queen futon, TV, and a Foosball table.

Sleeps 12 in regular beds - with an additional 2 on the futon in the game room

Pets aren't just welcomed - they are ENCOURAGED!

STARTING IN 2024 - As a result of numerous guests damaging the house we will require BOTH damage insurance AND a security deposit. For those people that treat their vacation houses with care we sincerely apologize for the additional "temporary" cost. (which will be refunded after a post departure inspection). Hopefully this will be a short term change to our policy.

Good place

The proximity and ease of access to the beach is great. The view of the dunes and ocean was magnificent. Sitting on the outer decks was very relaxing. The house is older and has some quirks with some wear and tear but nothing that hampered and dampened our stay. Any questions or problems were immediately answered or attended to. The stay was great. Thank you.

Fishing trip

Great time with family!

Property had just about everything we needed. Kitchen was well equipped but wish there had been a large stock pot to make a low country boil. Had a great time building memories with my family. House was only four houses from beach which made it very easy to take everything we needed to the beach. Hope to make it back there again!

Weekend Get Away

Pet friendly home, close to the beach. Comfortable home with all basic essentials provided. Conveniently located to grocery shopping and places to explore (lighthouse and Wright Brothers museum). The beach was peaceful, clean and not crowded. (Mid-May). The house was clean and comfortable with space for everyone.

Our Go-To Home in the OBX.

For value, convenience, and comfort, it doesn't get much better than The Dog House. We have stayed here several times and will continue to do so. The location and views are incredible. Steps from the beach, right down the road from grocery stores, shops, and restaurants. Large kitchen and dining room, plenty of bedrooms for large families, and a comfortable living area for watching movies or playing games. We will be staying here for Thanksgiving and again next January for a long weekend getaway. Love it and love our time spent there.

Home Again again !

Welcoming home steps from the boardwalk to the beach. Plenty of room for family and friends. Awesome space on the 3rd floor for kids to hang out, watch tv, puzzle or craft. Kitchen well equipped for meals. Lots of deck space on 2 floors with swing and hot tub. The guarded beach is beautiful. Greg the owner is responsive, friendly and helpful. Can't wait to visit again :)

Doghouse ‘24

This is our second stay at the Doghouse and it did not disappoint. You can not find a better owner to communicate with. Greg is always very accommodating and caring , his responses are also very timely. The house was very clean with clear instructions. You cannot get a better location! Definitely our go to when traveling with a large group! My favorite is the view from the deck and also private toilets for each bedroom with a Jack and Jill shower.

Fantastic location

I try to choose my beach rentals carefully for safe, easy beach access. Doghouse was super convenient- just a few steps over the dunes to the beach. What I was totally surprised by was (1) the lifeguard stand was located there - there aren’t many lifeguards in the area - great assurance with all family members constantly in the water (2) the back of the house faces open dunes - no neighbors to block a beautiful view of dunes and horizon ocean - lovely birdsong and breezes (3) a second refrigerator on ground floor! Yay! LOTS of food & beverage space Three generations of my family all thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Doghouse! Our host was wonderful. He quickly responded when we had a tv question.

Wonderful House! Will be back!

The house was as described and had everything we needed and then some! It was comfortable and in such a convenient location!! Super close to the beach as well as the grocery store and shops. LOVED that it was dog friendly! The decks on the house are closed off from the ground level which made it great to not have to worry about the dogs (or kids) getting loose when out on the decks. We brought baby gates to keep them confined but didn't even need them. The owner is super easy to work with and everything we needed had already arrived by the time we got there. We will definitely be back again, we had a wonderful time at this house.

Just as advertised

We had a great stay at The Doghouse. Property was just as the host described - not fancy but perfectly comfortable. Kitchen was well appointed and the proximity to the beach could not have been better given the price. We'll be back! One other fun thing to note ... there are a few undeveloped acres that the back deck looks down on. We had a great time watching for several huge bucks that seem to frequent the spot. Sometimes they were out in the open, other times simply a barely visible rack in the brush, but it became natures version of "wheres Waldo" for us.

Absolutely would love to stay here again!

The house is perfectly located, spacious, clean and everything is in working order....a wonderful place to stay! Beds were all comfortable and we appreciated that the owner provided linens and towels. In fact, the kitchen is very well stocked with plenty of nice dishes, silverware, pots/pans and there was no shortage of clean towels. The living room is spacious and comfortable and has a wonderful view. It is easy to get to the beach. My husband and I loved staying in the room off of the living room....you could hear the ocean at night and we woke up to a view of the sunrise. We had a marvelous post-Christmas get-away at this house. We already miss being there! We really appreciate everything; you can tell the homeowner has put a lot of thought and effort into maintaining a nice home for people to stay while in Corolla. Thank you!!

Perfect getaway

Our friends and us stayed at the Dog House over New Years. It was a perfect house for our group. We had 4 adults, and 5 children between the ages of 4-11. The house had lots of room and everything we needed. There was plenty of space to stretch out. The kitchen was well-equipped. The location was excellent. The weather was pretty mild at the end of December, so we were able to enjoy some time on the beach. Beach access is just a few houses down. It was really just perfect The kids enjoyed the upstairs. There were plenty of TVs. The house is set up really well for families with children. The hot tub was so much fun! It was a beautiful getaway. So many memories were made. We had a blast. Thank you!

Greg is an excellent, communicative host who posts an honest, accurate description of a well-equipped, older property. Extras abound: ceiling fans and TVs everywhere, plenty of bathrooms, two private decks w/1 gas grill, a sheltered hot tub, a comfy game room, an outdoor shower foot shower, lots of towels and beach chairs, plenty of dinnerware, a great location very near free tennis/ paddle ball, groceries, and ice cream, and a small bowl of chocolates awaiting your arrival. You can tell this is one of the original Outer Banks properties--not an upscale mansion with bright colors and wall hangings--and his cleaning crew could do better, though some of you won't notice. Free parking easily fits 5 vehicles. The beach walk is a few minutes, with good waves and not a particularly large crowd well north of the Duck bottleneck. In all, Greg provided a fun stay in line with his own description.

The Dog House

Older Home in Section F. Loved the 5 Bedrooms and the Jack n Jill bathrooms. Upstairs bedroom with bath very private. Loved the kids room on the top floor.

Girl’s trip

The location and house were ideal for our weekend! Access to the beach was super close and easy. The sounds of the ocean had us all sleeping like babes. Very clean and comfy. It was chilly out but the rain stayed away until we were leaving. Look forward to hopefully staying again in the future!!

We did enjoy our time spent. The property was very comfortable, however there should be extra attention payed to cleanliness. There was a used coffee pod in the Kuerig , inside the refrigerator was dirty , and the oven looked pretty bad. Overall it was nice.

Wonderful pet friendly house

If you hate leaving your pup at home when taking a family vacation look no further this is the house for you.This is an amazing house with a wonderful view and beach access. Me and my wife have been a few times now and will continue without a doubt.
