Relax and refresh in this cozy all newly renovated Scandinavian cottage located near peaceful Tapiola. Just over 1 mile to Otter Lake with public access! Book your stay where the home is surrounded by giant oak trees in a stunning country setting. Enjoy a very large private yard with space for volleyball and games, a play structure and a sandbox for the kids. The attached garage has a game area with a foosball table, arcade basketball, dartboard, exercise equipment and sitting area. Biking, walking, jogging, and roller skiing are immediately accessible on newly paved quiet country roads. It's a perfect getaway from the busy life for couples or the whole family! This home is part of an original late 1800's Finnish family homestead and has been in the same family for generations. Throughout the home you will find intriguing antique scandanavian treasures! The cozy living room has a pull out sofa sleeper, an electric fireplace, and a 32-in Smart TV. The kitchen has brand new appliances, an antique 120 year old workbench that has been converted into a prep table, and a darling vintage dining table with 4 chairs. The coffee bar features several options for your choice of coffee, a French press, a pour-over, and a Keurig. In the laundry room you will find a new washer & dryer, cleaning supplies and a large sink near the backyard entrance. The bathroom has full bathtub and shower, a spacious vanity, large mirror, toilet, and storage space. The main floor bedroom has a full size bed with a high window that looks out into the apple and pear tree orchard. Upstairs there are 2 cozy bedrooms, each with new queen beds and fresh linens. In one of the bedrooms, there is a toddler bed on an antique custom made pull behind sleigh, perfect for your little one! Located 15 miles south of Houghton, MTU, and shopping. Convenience store less 1.5 miles away. Centrally located for trips to the Porcupine mountains, the Keweenaw peninsula, and many spectacular destinations in the area! Come stay and experience the tranquility of the Scandinavian country life!

Perfect place.

Perfect place for us! We really enjoyed our weekend stay. It was extremely clean with everything we would need and more. Would definitely stay again.

Lovely Country Setting

This location of the Red House was excellent for us! It is in a quiet country setting in the middle of the Keweenaw and staying here gave us access to all parts of the Keweenaw Peninsula. We found several places for rockhounding, plus Brockway Mountain gave us a great display with fall color. Our hosts Anna and Matt were very knowledgeable and helpful as they are 4th generation living on this property. Next time we will stay longer!
