House was great as was the location. Walking distance to a nice little downtown type area and a short drive from everything else. Clean with plenty of charm.

Liked: Check-in, communication, location
Disliked: Cleanliness
Making every minute count.
We enjoyed our time together and the interior decor was very sweet and for the most part clean. The historical elements were darling. The exterior of the home was very overgrown with weeds and poison ivy. Entering the unit you had to move or break briar bushes and the walk to the hot tub felt snaky.
First the pictures are not what it really is, the floors in the living room and kitchen are terrible and the hot tub was nasty and had a bad smell and the hot water only lasted about ten minutes and the communication with the host was very poor

We are disappointed you had such terrible things to say. To be clear, you came only days after Hurricane Helene devastated our town. Our hot tub was not usable because our hot tub cleaning service was not operating due to the damage they experienced.
To address your comment, the home is exactly as pictured. I remained in contact without before and throughout your stay. As a community attempting to heal, I apologize if your stay was not as expected.
Property is just across the street from the Flat Rock Playhouse. The house is basically two sides: one long room with a living area, dining area, and kitchen, and on the other side, two bedrooms. The one towards the street has a king bed, a bunk bed, a closet and an en-suite half bath, and the one towards the parking area has a king bed, full bath, closet, and laundry room.
Everything was clean and tidy, and the owner had kindly left a few lights on for us, as we were arriving late. There were only two of us, but we could easily have had 6 girlfriends staying there comfortably.
We were just in town for a short stay so we didn’t take advantage of other amenities, but I would definitely stay here again.
This property was very charming. It was clean and the photos are a good representation of the inside. Some observations:
1. there is no shower. There is a very deep, narrow bathtub with a hand sprayer. This is not accessible for disabled or elderly people.
2. the beds were very hard and felt more like futons.
3. the temperature control is poor and you have to make the living space very cold so that the bedrooms are not boiling and vice versa.
4. the house is extremely close to the road. Practically in the road. This made it very loud but should be expected since this is an old post office.
5. the sink in the half bath was not working.
All in all, it was quaint and unique but some changes (shower, beds, sink) are possible and necessary to improve the stay.
The location was great since we were going to a play at Flatrock Playhouse which is across the street; however, we didn’t walk because of the busy street with no sidewalks. The history and quaintness of this property was amazing; however, it is not well stocked. There were no blankets for the beds and the comforters are very heavy. There were no toiletries nor washcloths. There was also no ice. It appears there was an ice maker but we could not access it, and the basket was empty and ice was never made. There were a few coffee pods but no other condiments for coffee such as sugar or creamer. For just an overnight stay, that’s ok, but also who brings these items with them on an overnight stay? Most other VRBO rentals I’ve stayed in have had these items. Great location and cute place - just feel that more personal touches would help!
