Our family had a great time. The cabin was well stocked and clean and we spent a ton of time outside enjoying the large deck and going out on the pontoon boat and kayaks. Would definitely stay here again.

Kerry and family, Thank you for your thoughtful review! It makes us so happy to hear that your family felt comfortable and at home during your stay. We love adding little personal touches, like fresh flowers to welcome our guests, so it's wonderful to know those details helped make your visit feel extra cozy.
We loved this property on Trillium Lake. The home had everything you could need for a comfortable stay, plus more. The outdoor games, fire pit (gas and traditional), amazing deck, screened in porch, pedal boat, canoe, kayaks, and the little pontoon! Fishing was great and the quiet, clear lake was SO fun to swim in. The fish cleaning house was perfect, too! We will be staying again!

We're thrilled to hear that you enjoyed everything Trillium Lake Retreat has to offer—from the peaceful lake and great fishing to the kayaks, canoe, pontoon, and outdoor spaces. We love knowing that guests are able to relax, explore the lake, and make lasting memories together.
It's great to hear the fish cleaning house was useful and that you had such a fun time swimming in the clear water. We work hard to provide amenities that make your stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible, so your kind words mean a lot.
We can't wait to welcome you back for another stay. Every season on Trillium Lake has something special to offer, and we'd love to host your next getaway!
Cabin was beautiful! Exceptionally clean and organized. Plenty of room for all 5 of us. Exactly as described. We enjoyed the many amenities that came with the stay. The kids enjoyed the paddle boat and catching so many fish on the pontoon! Highly recommend!

Brian, thank you for choosing our log cabin for your family getaway and for taking the time to share your experience! It was a pleasure hosting you.
I'm so glad to hear the cabin met your expectations and that everyone had room to relax and enjoy themselves. It sounds like the kids had a great time on the paddle boat and reeling in fish from the pontoon—those are the kinds of memories we hope families take home with them.
I'll admit, I pay close attention to the little details and keeping everything organized because I want our guests to be able to unpack, settle in, and simply enjoy their time away. Thank you for noticing! We'd love the opportunity to welcome your family back to Trillium Lake for another adventure.
Beautiful cabin in such a peaceful setting! Many options for watercraft, we enjoyed the pontoon to fish from. Very little traffic on the lake, some of the time we had it to ourselves. Large, well-stocked kitchen, everything you could possibly need! Both gas and charcoal grill ready to go. Kimberly was very responsive, a lot of attention to detail! Fresh flowers throughout the cabin and brownie bites were a nice touch. The large screened-in porch was perfect for an evening cup of tea! My favorite was the loon on the lake that followed us around! They are our favorite up north sound! Lots of deer too. I would definitely recommend this property!
This property was such a pleasant surprise . We wanted a secluded quiet stay with luxury accommodations. We got it. The cabin home was very clean and so nice. The hostess really made us feel at home Even fresh flowers in every room . The private lake with pontoon boat was perfect for fishing and taking an evening cruise . Close to town for groceries was great too. I would let people know that getting to the boat ,you must go down a steep hill and if you had any physical walking issues it ,may not be easy to do. Other than that ,we certainly would recommend this beautiful property.

Sue, your review absolutely made my day—thank you! We love hearing that you found our little log cabin to be a peaceful surprise. Creating a place that feels secluded, quiet, and welcoming is exactly what we hope every guest experiences, and I'm so glad you felt at home. The fresh flowers are one of my favorite ways to welcome guests, so it means a lot that you noticed them.
I also love that you enjoyed the private lake, an evening cruise on the pontoon, and the convenience of being just a short drive from town for groceries and other activities. We think it's one of the best parts of the property—you can truly unplug while still being close to everything you might need.
Thank you as well for mentioning the walk down to the lake. You're absolutely right that the hill can be challenging for guests with mobility concerns, and improving that access is already on our list of future projects. We appreciate you sharing that detail so future guests know what to expect.
It was a pleasure hosting you, and we'd be delighted to welcome you back to our little slice of Northwoods paradise anytime!
Kimberly was quick with responses and good info. Great cabin to stay at. Central location to lakes and towns. I will book again. Very private neighborhood

James, nice Northern Pike! It looks like you found one of the reasons we love Trillium Lake so much.
Thank you for your kind words. We're so glad you enjoyed the cabin, the privacy, and our central location. One of the things that makes this area so special is that there are well over 100 lakes within a short drive, along with charming towns like Hackensack, Longville, and Walker, each with their own unique shops, restaurants, and events.
We'd be thrilled to welcome you back anytime. Hopefully, your next visit comes with an even bigger fish story to tell!
We truly enjoyed our getaway. The view was amazing, the cabin was perfect for our family, and the fishing was divine. Thanks for sharing your property with us.
This is an absolute five star place to take your family! We spent six incredible days at this amazing cabin! The fishing was phenomenal. The cabin was incredible so many things to do so many yard games to play.
We absolutely loved this cabin, property, and lake. The cabin was perfect, and had so much to offer! It had everything we needed! The lake is gorgeous, and we caught some amazing fish! This was one of our most relaxing vacations we've had. The cabin is only one hour from Itasca State Park, which was beautiful! If you're looking for a peaceful place to get away, this is it!
We had a wonderful time at the rustic cabin and on the lake. The AC unit wasn’t working the evening we arrived and when we reached out it was promptly fixed the next day. The listing was very accurate and we enjoyed our 3-day getaway!
My adult granddaughters and I stayed 3 days in October for some grandma time. The cabin is adorable and we spent every evening on deck by fire. Hackensack is a quaint little town with great places to eat and friendly people.
Everything went great with the check-in. The only thing I truly missed about the kitchen was there was no dishwasher. The kitchen was well stocked with all the kitchen essentials that you need.

Sharon, thank you for staying with us and for taking the time to leave a review. I'm so glad to hear that check-in went smoothly and that you found the kitchen well stocked with everything you needed for cooking during your stay.
I understand that not having a dishwasher wasn't your preference. Because our log cabin is designed to provide a more traditional Northwoods experience, we have chosen not to install one, and we do note this in our property description so guests know what to expect before booking. While this amenity isn't available, we do our best to provide a fully equipped kitchen and many other comforts to help guests enjoy a relaxing stay.
Thank you again for your feedback, and I wish you all the best in your future travels.
We enjoyed our stay. Weather was good and no mosquitoes here! Ate most of our meals out on the deck. This home is well stocked and well maintained. We brought a boat to fish area lakes. Used the pontoon here and explored Trillium Lake. Would recommend this rental home!
Wonderful first impression. Very clean with fresh carnations throughout the home. Large outdoor deck and a covered patio area as well. The sauna was awesome, sad it was cold enough to use in August! But, you can’t control Mother Nature. The beds were comfy and view was nice. Very nice cabin. I would recommend this place. Keep in mind only one bathroom though.
We absolutely loved our stay! I booked this trip as a quick Memorial Day getaway for my husband and two boys (15 and 22), and we all loved every minute of it.The cabin is beautifully decorated and so cozy, with a charming log cabin theme carried throughout—from the furniture to the décor to the bedding—which created the perfect atmosphere. It truly had all the amenities we were hoping for and more. The loft area was larger than I expected, offering two separate sleeping areas for the boys, and the master bedroom has a larger bed and the room gets very dark at night (pitch black)! The highlight of our trip was definitely the vintage pontoon boat—we had so much fun getting out on the lake and fishing. It made the experience extra special and is something we’ll all remember. The kitchen was well stocked with everything you could need for cooking or baking—pots, pans, dishes, serving ware, and even some basic food essentials—which made it easy to relax and enjoy meals together. We also appreciated the thoughtful touches from the host, like the fresh flowers and marshmallows for roasting, we enjoyed some s’mores around the fire! We made great use of the sauna, propane fire table, yard games, board games, and hammock as well. Overall, it was a wonderful stay made even more enjoyable by all of the amenities and attention to detail. We would absolutely come back!

Thank you so much for your incredibly thoughtful review, and an extra thank you for taking the time to share so many beautiful photos! I truly enjoyed looking through them and seeing Trillium Lake Retreat through your family's eyes. It makes me smile knowing your Memorial Day getaway created so many wonderful memories.
I'm delighted your family enjoyed everything from the vintage pontoon and fishing to the sauna, s'mores, yard games, and hammock. I love leaving fresh flowers and a few special treats because I want every guest to feel welcomed from the moment they walk through the door.
I did have to smile when I saw the photo of the cabin's exterior. If you thought it looked beautiful then, you definitely need to come back! That picture happened to be taken right in the middle of our exterior restoration project. At the time, the original stain had been completely sandblasted off, and we hadn't yet applied the new finish. Since your stay, the entire log cabin has been professionally re-stained, and we're so excited with how it turned out—it truly brought the cabin back to life while preserving its Northwoods charm.
Thank you again for choosing our little lakeside retreat. We'd be honored to host your family again, and I think you'll be pleasantly surprised the next time you pull into the driveway!
We really enjoyed our stay. It's nice and quiet and the lake is gorgeous. The kitchen works great and you're close enough to the town to be able to get supplies or go to a restaurant. I caught four different northern pike over 5 days and I'm pretty happy with that. The kayak works great along with the canoe. We struggled with the pontoon but didn't really need it. It is quite a steep hill from the cabin down to the dock. My mom needed to find a different way down there but we figured it out.
Felt like I was in a snow globe with red, yellow, gold and red leaves falling….. The place has a little “ off the beaten path,” feel with tons of privacy which we liked. So well stocked; with ample linens and kitchen items there was nothing we needed that wasn’t there.
The sauna was also great!!!
Will be back soon!

Amazing fall colors are for sure! Our rustic log cabin is simply stunning in the fall. We are so glad you enjoyed your stay and welcome you back anytime! We still have some opening this fall if you are interested. :-)
It is a delightful, rustic (but not too rustic), cabin in the woods. Very clean and very well stocked. The kitchen had everything you might need, tons of board games, furniture and beds were comfy. Lots of option for enjoying the lake including an operation vintage pontoon. Sunsets were beautiful from the deck and the screen porch. It was 45 minutes to an hour from Bemidji, Brainerd, and Itasca state park. Hackensack is 15 minutes away. Really couldn't ask for more. It is everything it says in the listing.

Robert, I'm so glad you mentioned the quantity of board games we have at the cabin. When we first opened, we didn't install a TV since we believe being at the lake should be about making memories with those you love, and what better way to do that than playing a board game, sitting out in the screen porch enjoying the beautiful view or getting out on the water in the now-since-updated vintage pontoon. I love that you took a trip to Itasca State Park to see the headwaters of the Mississippi. Your family with remember this trip for a lifetime. We'd love to welcome you back anytime!
Everything at the log cabin was perfect. It was so quiet and restful. We woke up with a smile each morning to the sound of the loons. The vintage pontoon was perfect for an evening ride around the lake or a little fishing. Kimberly is a great host and responded timely to our questions. The cabin is tastefully decorated. We felt love as soon as we walked in. We definitely will be back… ♥️

We are nature lovers at heart who find our greatest joy outdoors—hiking forest trails, camping under the stars, fishing quiet waters, and hunting in season. Family is at the center of everything we do, and we treasure time spent together in nature, creating memories that last a lifetime. This place is our way of sharing that love with others, inviting you to slow down, reconnect, and make your own unforgettable family memories in the great outdoors.
Why they chose this property
We chose the Hackensack area for its wild beauty and the sheer abundance of lakes—more than 120 just a short drive away—and because we were drawn to the timeless, back-to-nature charm of a log cabin tucked away on a private lake.
What makes this property unique
This property offers exceptional peace and quiet, surrounded by the soothing sounds of nature—from frogs croaking to loons, sandhill cranes, and geese calling across the water. Trillium Lake is a private lake with limited recreational boat traffic; you’re far more likely to see a pontoon boat gliding by in the evening than a high-speed boat pulling tubers or skiers. At dusk, it’s rare to see or hear any sign of other people, creating a truly serene escape.
The cabin is centrally located among several vibrant Minnesota summer tourist towns, including Hackensack, Longville, and Walker. Hackensack features brand-new pickleball courts, a weekly kids’ fishing contest, a swappers meet, a brewery, a handcrafted cocktail lounge, and direct access to the Paul Bunyan Bike Trail. Longville is famous for its weekly turtle races, while Walker is bustling with activity, offering numerous shops, boutiques, breweries, and restaurants.
Fishing enthusiasts- You found your base! Trillium offers great large mouth bass fishing, but bring your boats and check out several of the 120+ lakes that are within a 15 mile radius of Hackensack, such as Leech, Ten-mile, Women, Birch, Pleasant, Stony, and Wabedo
