About this property

2 Miles to Going-to-the-Sun Road - Glacier NP – 8 Private Wooded Acres – Hot Tub

Welcome to Three Bear Basecamp. Glad you discovered us.

Thank you for considering our home for your Glacier National Park visit.

** Planning a 2027 Glacier Visit?

Our 2027 calendar is not yet open. Because Three Bear Basecamp (3BB) is our family MT home, we welcome only 12 guest stays each year & are carefully reviewing dates, rates & minimum-stay requirements before releasing the season.

Please use Vrbo’s "Contact Host" option to share your preferred dates, group size & Glacier plans. We’re happy to answer questions & note your interest, although dates cannot be held or reserved before the calendar officially opens.

** A Private Glacier Home Close to the Park.

Finding a home this close to Glacier—with eight private wooded acres, room for families & larger groups & the comforts of home—is surprisingly rare.

3BB is just 2 miles from Going-to-the-Sun Road & only minutes from Glacier’s West Entrance. That makes early starts, midday breaks & spontaneous evening trips into the Park much easier, while still giving guests a peaceful place to return to among the trees.

We’ve always tried to create a place where family & friends can spend less time driving & more time experiencing Glacier together.

Glacier is one of those rare places that stays with you long after you return home. The mountains, lakes & rivers are spectacular, of course, but it’s often the quieter moments people remember most—a child spotting wildlife for the first time, laughter around the fire after dinner, coffee on the deck before the house wakes up, birdsong, a cool breeze through the trees, aspen leaves dancing overhead or simply slowing down for a while.

That’s the kind of experience we’ve tried to create at Three Bear Basecamp for family.

** More Time for Glacier & One Another.

Being this close to the Park makes it easier to head in for sunrise, return for lunch or make one more evening drive along Going-to-the-Sun Road.

Many guests tell us that pulling into the driveway feels like taking a deep breath after a full day of exploring. Several have shared that they spent more time inside Glacier simply because coming & going was so easy.

Less time driving.
Less time sitting in traffic.
More time hiking, watching wildlife, sharing meals & simply being together.

It may look like a small difference on the map, but it can become one of the biggest advantages of the week.

** A Home Designed for Connection

3BB was thoughtfully designed for families, multigenerational gatherings, couples & compatible groups of friends.

The home sleeps up to 12 guests in real beds—never sofa sleepers or futons. There are inviting places to gather, along with quieter corners to read, soak in the hot tub, enjoy the forest views or simply listen to the sounds of the seasons.

One of our favorite parts of every Glacier day is coming home.

Someone starts the grill. Someone else gets the fire going. Kids disappear to play while the adults catch up on the day’s adventures. Before long, everyone finds their way back together.

During Montana’s long summer days, guests naturally drift between the decks, yard, outdoor kitchen & fire pits, with conversations often continuing long after dinner is over.

** Sleeping Arrangements

The home includes two enclosed upstairs bedrooms plus a spacious, open lower-level bunkhouse with the Little Bear Den & Bison Loft above. The lower level & both lofts are open to one another rather than fully enclosed bedrooms.

The Little Bear Den has a blackout privacy shade, but neither loft has a solid door. This open design supports airflow, safety & connection to the rest of the home.

The layout works especially well for families & multigenerational groups who are comfortable with a mix of private bedrooms & open sleeping spaces.

3BB Beds include:
- Two kings
- Three queens
- One twin bunk bed

Because photos can only show so much, we strongly encourage prospective guests to view our 3-D interior tour before booking. It gives the clearest understanding of the bedrooms, lofts, lower-level layout & shared interior spaces.

** A Kitchen Made for Real Meals

The kitchen is truly the heart of the home.

We enjoy cooking, so we’ve equipped it the way we’d want our own family kitchen to be equipped. Whether you’re packing lunches before an early hike or preparing dinner after a full day in Glacier, you should find the tools you need in both the main kitchen & summer kitchen.

Guests often tell us it’s one of the best-stocked kitchens they’ve experienced in a vacation home.

Meals here tend to be relaxed & wonderfully informal. Some guests gather around the kitchen island while others enjoy the elevated deck table overlooking the forest or one of several outdoor dining areas.

The layout makes it easy to move between cooking, eating, talking & spending time outside without feeling separated from the group.

** Life in the Quiet Woods

Each season brings something a little different.

Hummingbirds return in spring. Wild strawberries appear around the property. Robins build nests beneath the porch overhangs & below the north-facing primary-bedroom deck. Beargrass blooms in June, while huckleberries & thimbleberries ripen later in summer. The large compass-rose fire pit wildflowers in bloom from Spring into Fall.

Year after year, mother deer have chosen these quiet woods to give birth & raise their fawns. There’s something deeply peaceful about watching them return to a place where they seem to feel safe.

Guests may also spot foxes—including the occasional cross fox—pine martens, owls, elk & other wildlife moving through the property. Glacier & the National Forest are our surrounding neighborhood.

Wildlife is never guaranteed, of course, which makes each sighting feel like a small Montana gift.

** Helping You Make the Most of Glacier

Glacier is wonderfully unpredictable. Weather, road access, wildlife closures, construction & Park operations can all shape a visit, sometimes from one day to the next.

One of our favorite parts of hosting is helping guests sort through the possibilities. Glacier offers so many remarkable places that deciding how to spend limited vacation time can feel almost as challenging as getting here.

We’re happy to help you think through what matters most to your group—wildlife, alpine scenery, easy walks, waterfalls, longer hikes, time on the water, quieter places or simply a slower pace.

Whether you’re traveling with young children, grandparents, first-time visitors or experienced hikers, we can help narrow the options & think realistically about drive time, energy levels & the natural rhythm of your stay.

We don’t believe there’s one perfect Glacier itinerary. Every group is different, & the best trip is the one especially shaped around the people taking it.

** What Guests Often Remember

Guests frequently mention many of the same things in their reviews:

* How close the home is to Glacier
* How peaceful it feels after a busy day in the Park
* The well-equipped kitchen
* Wildlife sightings around the property
* Indoor & outdoor gathering spaces
* Our local recommendations
* Having someone available before & during their stay

Those comments mean a great deal to us.

We’ve never wanted 3BB to feel like just another vacation rental. We hope it becomes a place where people reconnect, make wonderful memories together & leave with an even deeper appreciation for Glacier & this beautiful corner of Montana.

** Bringing an RV?

For select multigenerational stays, one self-contained RV may be approved for an additional fee. The RV must be supplied by the guest—either personally or through a local rental provider—and is available only with a 3BB reservation.

Advance approval is required. Please contact us through Vrbo before booking so we can discuss RV size, hook-ups & whether the arrangement is a good fit.

** A Few Practical Notes

* Just 2 miles from Going-to-the-Sun Road & only minutes from Glacier’s West Entrance
* Sleeps up to 12 guests in real beds
* Two enclosed upstairs bedrooms plus an open lower-level bunkhouse & two open lofts
* Two king beds, three queen beds & one twin bunk bed
* Eight private wooded acres in a quiet neighborhood
* Optional premium hot tub for an additional fill & sanitation fee
* Outdoor kitchen, grills, fire pits, elevated decks & multiple outdoor dining areas
* Fast Wi-Fi
* Central air conditioning
* Reverse-osmosis drinking water & Culligan-softened water throughout the home
* Whole-house backup generator
* Only 12 guest stays each year, allowing us to prepare the home thoughtfully & provide a more personal guest experience

** Property & privacy

For guest safety & transparency, exterior security cameras monitor only the driveway, pump house & exterior entry areas. There are no cameras inside the home or in private guest-use spaces.

An owner storage shed, RV & maintenance equipment are kept behind fencing on a distant portion of the eight-acre property, well away from the home & principal guest gathering areas. This separate area does not share guest amenities, outdoor living areas or gathering spaces.

Depending on seasonal needs—including wildfire conditions—owners or service personnel may occasionally access this distant maintenance area. At other times, no one may be present during a guest stay. Any necessary access is always handled quietly & with respect for guest privacy.

** We’d be Honored to Welcome You

Thank you again for considering Three Bear Basecamp.

Please use Vrbo’s "Contact Host" option with questions about the home, sleeping layout or planning your Glacier vacation—or to request the 3-D tour link.

If 3BB sounds like the kind of Glacier experience you’re hoping for, we’d be honored to welcome you to our home & this very special corner of Montana.

Daniel, thank you so much. Hosting your family was exactly the kind of gathering we hoped Three Bear Basecamp would make possible. We had to smile at your first-night message that you weren’t sure you were going to get the grandkids to leave the property & go into Glacier! Seeing the notes and drawings they left behind afterward made that even more special. We finished Three Bear Basecamp with multigenerational family time in mind—plenty of room to gather for a real meal, outdoor spaces where the kids can play & explore, comfortable places for everyone to spread out, and somewhere that feels good to come home to after a full day adventuring in Glacier. Your vrbo message at the end of the week saying you had a terrific stay & that 3BB was the best vacation home you had ever stayed in absolutely made our day. Even more meaningful was reading in the guest book that the thoughtful details helped make it feel like a “home away from home.” That is exactly what we hope families will find here. Thank you for choosing Three Bear Basecamp for this time with your children & grandchildren. We hope all of you carry some wonderful Montana memories home with you. Warmly, Patty & John

This property went beyond my expectations! The outdoor areas especially were superb and we were able to enjoy relaxing under the stars, as well as some amazing games for the kids. Patty was so generous with her time and I helped my family plan the best trip to glacier national Park.

Courtney, thank you so much! We loved having your family at Three Bear Basecamp & are especially happy to know the property went beyond your expectations. One of our favorite things about hosting families near Glacier is helping make the time between the adventures just as memorable—the kids finding things to play with, huckleberry picking, spotting wildlife in the woods, everyone having room to spread out, evenings together outside under the Montana stars, & a comfortable place to come home to after a full day in the Park. It was such a pleasure helping your family think through your Glacier days, too. With different ages & interests traveling together, a little local planning can make such a difference while still leaving plenty of room for spontaneity. Thank you for trusting us with such a special family trip. We hope those Montana memories—and a few of those big smiles!—stay with all of you for a very long time. Warmly, Patty & John

This is an amazing property, well styled and maintained. Our family with three children had more than enough room to spread out and play. The kitchen was the most well equipped I have encountered in a vacation home. There are sharp knives, cast iron pots and pans, baking pans, and plenty of place settings and glassware. The hosts are communicative, respectful and they genuinely care about your experience. Glacier is a magical place, so much natural beauty is hard to summarize!

Erika, thank you so much for your thoughtful review. We loved having your family at 3BB during the Glacier portion of your national-parks adventure! Knowing you were already into the second week of a family road trip made us especially happy to hear that everyone had plenty of room to spread out, play & recharge. We hope 3BB gave your family a comfortable place to slow down together between all of those big Montana adventures. And your comments about the kitchen mean a lot to us. We know that for families traveling together, being able to come home after a long day in Glacier, prepare a real meal & gather around the big kitchen island can be every bit as important as having comfortable beds. We’ve tried to equip the kitchen accordingly, so hearing that it was the most well-equipped you’ve encountered in a vacation home was a wonderful compliment. Most of all, thank you for recognizing the care behind the experience. We genuinely enjoy helping families make the most of their time here while giving them plenty of space to enjoy the adventure their own way. We hope your family looks back on your Tetons, Yellowstone & Glacier road trip for many years to come—and that Three Bear Basecamp holds a happy little place among those memories. Warmly, Patty & John

This house was a perfect setup for our multi-generational family. We’d absolutely stay here again and again. Not only were there tons of toys to keep our kids busy, the kitchen was stocked full of everything you could need, and the deck was so nice to sit outside & relax on. The house was spotless… even outside on the deck areas. The location couldn’t have been more perfect to everything we that we did… Glacier National Park, white water rafting, fishing, etc… even a nice walk down to a local park to let the kids run. Patti, our host, was a joy. So nice and hospitable. We honestly couldn’t have needed anything more. Highly recommend!

Thank you so much for your thoughtful review. It was truly a pleasure to host your family. Hearing that Three Bear Basecamp was such a great fit for your multi-generational gathering means a great deal to us. We could almost picture those five young cousins enjoying the hammocks, slackline, & deck while the adults relaxed nearby. Creating a place where families can reconnect & make lasting memories is exactly why we built Three Bear Basecamp. We also loved helping with ideas for both Glacier adventures & nearby local experiences. It sounds like your family made the most of every day—and even enjoyed one of nature's greatest surprises when your mother-in-law caught the Northern Lights from the deck! Thank you as well for the thoughtful gift you left for our wonderful cleaning team. Your kindness meant so much to them. Now that you've experienced Glacier in both October & July, we'd love the opportunity to welcome you back in another season. One of the remarkable things about this place is that it's never quite the same twice—but it's always beautiful. Warmly, P&J

Host provided everything we needed to enjoy our week, including extra water bottles and stuff needed to enjoy the great outdoors right in the neighborhood. Location was perfect for exploring Glacier National Park and other nearby communities (Columbia Falls, Kalispell, Whitefish). The house itself was tremendous with plenty of room for our crew of seven adults. Good mix of outdoor and indoor spaces for everyone. The accents around the house were a very nice touch (e.g., maps and books about the area). We saw deer, including a new fawn, traverse the property daily. Also saw a fox in the area. Plenty of good bird watching as well from the two second floor spaces.

Thank you so much for your kind words and for taking such wonderful care of Three Bear Basecamp. It was a joy hosting your crew. We loved reading about your adventures throughout NW Montana in our guest book & hearing that 3BB served as such a comfortable basecamp for exploring everything from Waterton & Glacier to the Bison Range. Iceberg Lake is certainly a memorable hike, & we're delighted that Glacier's wildlife put on quite a show for your group with bears & mountain goats, while our neighborhood cross fox, and our little fawn making regular appearances around the property. We're especially happy that the woods, house, hammocks, decks, books, maps, & little extras helped everyone relax & recharge after each day's adventures. Sharing our home with families & friends who appreciate this special corner of Montana is exactly why we enjoy opening Three Bear Basecamp to others. Thank you again for choosing Three Bear Basecamp. We hope Glacier and Northwest Montana continue calling your family back for years to come. Warmly, Three Bear Basecamp 🐾

3BB was an amazing experience! Patty is an exceptional host, communicating ahead of time to curate our stay to our (large) family's needs, helping find the best hikes and restaurants and making sure we didn't miss out on any local sights (bears! sheep!). The home was immaculate, decorated in a local and sophisticated esthetic that blended well with the woodland surroundings. There were plenty of outside play areas and games for both kids and adults. Our favorite was the fire pit, with fire starting supplies, roasting sticks and the perfect amount of chairs to sit and enjoy just steps from the house. We celebrated my mom's birthday and she LOVED her private deck off the primary suite to relax after long hikes and days at the river. The proximity to GNP cannot be beat, allowing for quick trips into the park for an evening sunset hike or quick dip into Lake McDonald. We are grateful this home was available and look forward to staying there again!

Mariette, Thank you so much for this generous review. It was such a joy getting to know what mattered most to your family before you arrived & helping narrow Glacier’s many possibilities into hikes, river time, meals & local moments that best fit your crew. Personal trip planning is one of our favorite parts of hosting at Three Bear Basecamp, and we’re always happy to include that kind of help as part of a 3BB stay. Knowing this trip brought your mom Marianne, her children & grandchildren together in Montana to celebrate her 80th made it especially meaningful. We loved reading the notes your family left in our guest book too—hearing that the adults found places to truly relax while the kids explored the swings, treehouses & outdoor spaces, and that the compass wildflower garden fire pit became the setting for three nights of s’mores, made us smile. The kids sure used those fire-poking sticks we left out …. or was that the adults ;0) We’re so glad your Mom enjoyed the private deck after long Glacier days, and that 3BB’s location made those spontaneous evening trips into the park so easy. Thank you as well for taking such wonderful care of our home. We would be absolutely delighted to welcome your family back—perhaps to experience a completely different season of Glacier next time! Absolutely Incredible Property – The Perfect Montana Getaway! We have stayed in many vacation rentals over the years, but this home in West Glacier, Montana was truly in a league of its own. We spent seven wonderful days here with our three combined families, and from the moment we arrived, we knew we had found something special. The property itself is absolutely stunning, and the home was more than large enough to comfortably accommodate all of us. Most importantly, it was immaculate. It was obvious that an incredible amount of thought and care went into making this home comfortable, welcoming, and enjoyable for guests.Everything you could possibly need was provided, from a fully equipped kitchen and plenty of cookware to comfortable bedding and cozy blankets thoughtfully placed throughout every sitting area, including the porches. There were indoor board games and books, as well as an amazing selection of outdoor activities, including axe throwing and cornhole. The outdoor spaces were absolutely incredible. There was a fire pit on the upper deck, another fire pit off the side of the house complete with everything needed for making s’mores, and a hot tub. The children had their own amazing playground with a swing set, balance rope, playhouse, and even a little mock firepit sitting area. There were also four hammocks and another hot tub located just off the outdoor kitchen and sitting area. There was truly something for everyone to enjoy.

Another {5-star} review!! Thank you, Paul, for taking the time to provide your ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ review. We take great pride in our property at the doorstep to Glacier and all the positive feedback from our guests fuels our passion for sharing our little slice of paradise. From the time you booked your visit last year, we were excited about your ambitious plans for your month in Montana! From you & your wife RVing 30+ hours from the southeast, organizing your Company’s Board of Director retreat in the Glacier area & then separately planning your shared vacation-time with your adult children with their families for a week at Three Bear Basecamp. Just….Wow😮! With that unBEARably busy but wonderful July schedule, we especially value your time in providing kind & quick feedback on our perfect location & many 🐻 🐻 🐻 amenities. We were a bit surprised by the disclosure comment in your review, because the possibility of our presence in our RV has been fully disclosed from the time it went up on VRBO. That listing states: “Please note: 3BB owners occasionally live on the 8 wooded acres. You may see them from time to time come & go in the distance along the shared part of the driveway…..Your utmost privacy will always be respected while staying on property.” We also went back to review all communications since your Dec. 8, 2023 booking request. Part of the VRBO booking process requires an acknowledgment of the house rules, policies and rental agreement. The following is on the first page / welcome letter potion of your VRBO booking acknowledgment: “…..So, whether this is your first trip to Glacier or your 12th, if you have any questions, feel free to ask us if we’re on property, staying in our RV.” This same rental agreement / disclosure text was in the attachment sent back when your booking request was approved the same day. In March of this year, when we were exchanging texts regarding the placement options for your large RV on property, we sent a picture of a potential space on our property for your RV, indicating that the space in the picture was further from the home, and closer to the location of our RV where we sometimes stay during the summer. We are very glad that my presence on property (watering new plantings during an unseasonable heatwave) was not a bother during your stay. When watering is required, my goal is to do it when guests have left the property to go into the park – so that the groundskeeping required to make 3BB so special does not to distract from our guests’ time together on property. When John & I decided to make our Glacier home available to guests, we constructed an RV site in a wooded area nearly a football field from the home, along with a low impact access road so that the portion of the driveway and parking areas close to the home are for the exclusive use of our guests. Our goal was for the RV and our access to it to be hidden from view inside the house, on the decks, or the outdoor amenity areas. We believe that goal was achieved! We put our heart and soul into ensuring the property is perfect and private for every guest to make lifelong memories with their loved ones. Your delightful family is welcome back anytime and left one of the most kindhearted and entertaining entries in our guest registry book! We especially loved the fun drawings of the fat squirrel / chipmunks that your grandchildren dubbed Samuel, Alvin & Chippy - just perfect 😆! Your daughter & daughter-in-law are allows us to share their sweet artwork on our 3BB Facebook page ❤️ Safe travels home! Appreciatively, Patty

Our stay at 3 Bears Base Camp was perfect. The property was well located near the west entrance to Glacier National Park. The accommodations were beautiful and could not have been cleaner or better equipped. It had everything we needed and more. The home is beautiful with wonderful finishes, comfortable furnishings and welcome beds after a long day of hiking. We found good restaurants nearby and even cooked dinner in one night to enjoy the decks and peaceful surroundings and relax at 3 Bears Base Camp. Patty was a wonderful host and provided excellent resources and advice for exploring GNP. I highly recommend this property for a family and/or adult couples looking for a fun and relaxing property well located near GNP.

Montana Memories

Our stay at Three Bears Basecamp was simply amazing! Patty is a most gracious host and reached out throughout our stay to make sure we were happy. Glacier National Park did not disappoint. The weather was perfect and the scenery unforgettable. This house is only 3 miles from the west entrance making our visits easy and frequent. It is beautifully furnished with love and very comfortable. We are regular VRBO renters and this is, by far, our favorite stay.

Karen it was a pleasure hosting your family. Groups like yours - multi-generational families - is what we ❤️love most about opening 3BB for guests. 🤗 It's great that you & David pull this adventure together for your family. Making time to create amazing life-long memories whether exploring Glacier our relaxing on property among the pines, aspens & firs, roasting marshmallows or star gazing on one of the high decks. All about a shared experience with the ones you love -- rafting, horseback riding, hiking, cooking out, exploring Three Bear Basecamp woods -- what a week! Early on, when you reached out directly to narrow down your itinerary options, we could tell that family time is precious to you & David. We were honored to be a part of the #MontanaMoments you created. Please share some of your favorite photos of three generations 🥰 exploring the Crown of the Continent. Tag us on FB. We hope you visit us again - next time the grands will be old enough to whitewater the wild & scenic Flathead River, mountain zip-line & eBike Going-to-the-Sun road! Grands + Glacier = Such fun at every stage / season!

Highly Recommend 100%

The property is amazing, incredibly well appointed and well stocked with everything we needed: kitchenware, water bottles, games, outdoor kitchen/grill, Little Martin guitar!! and more, too much to list all! Everything pristine condition and super clean. Great location, just a few miles to W. Glacier village and 15-20 min to Apgar visitor center. Very peaceful location with lots of deer and other wildlife. Patty and John are incredibly friendly, helpful and responsive hosts. Definitely recommend!

High deck yoga and beer delivery? Thank you so much for your kind 5-star review — we think you’ve just set a new gold standard for guests! 😊 We also loved your sweet guest book note. “Yoga with the birds” on the big deck might just be our new favorite visual — what a perfect way to start or end the day here! And the three beers you left in the fridge for our exceptional cleaning crew — are we rebranding to Three Beers Basecamp? 😄 You two families were so thoughtful — thank you! We're so glad you felt at home and enjoyed the peaceful setting, the wildlife, all the little touches, and the visit suggestions. The graceful (and sometimes playful!) deer, chipmunks, pine martens, birdsong, and quiet woods really do make it easy to relax at the end of the day. Now we’re curious — where did the Baby Martin guitar get played? By the firepit, the hot tub, or up on the high deck? It’s always fun when guests realize just how close we are to Glacier. Whether it’s 2.7 miles to the West Glacier entrance or 4 miles to the Apgar Visitor Center, it truly feels like the park is part of our backyard — especially when you're lakeside under the Northern Lights. That quick drive is just 5–10 minutes during 10 out of 12 months of the year! We’d be absolutely delighted to welcome you back anytime.

AMAZING Stay!

I can't say enough about how wonderful it was to stay at 3BB! Fantastic amenities: culligan water filter for all our water bottles to carry into the park, an incredibly stocked kitchen, beautiful comfortable fire pits (with wood), comfortable beds, a fantastic grill for steaks we bought at a farmer's market, and a well appreciated house generator (there was bad weather one night where power for everyone else around us was out for 3+ hours... we never lost power). Patty is an amazing host and gave such thoughtful and appreciated suggestions to make our stay even more comfortable. And, so close to Glacier! Best VRBO we have ever stayed at - thanks again for sharing your home with us!

We are so happy that you made “Three Bear” your “Basecamp” for your family’s Glacier adventures! When we first considered putting our home on VRBO, we had groups like yours in mind – families who want to see and experience one of the world’s most beautiful places and the many wonders of nature while making lifelong memories with loved ones. It warms our hearts to see guests take full advantage of how close we are to the park to be able to maximize time in Glacier, while still having time to take in the farmers market and other offerings in nearby towns. Thank you for being such wonderful guests, and we hope to see you and your family back at 3BB! Meanwhile, be sure to like and follow us on FB for continually updated information. Thanks again!

Luxury accommodation near Glacier Park

Beautiful, comfortable, and very well equipped house just outside Glacier Park. Most of the accommodations near Glacier are pretty basic, so this is a special find if you are looking for something with all the comforts of home. The location is great—just a few miles from the park entrance—but feels very secluded and private. The house is one of the most well equipped I’ve ever stayed at: everything you need for cooking, food storage, extra bedding, towels, blankets, games, bug and bear spray, and baby essentials (great for us as we were traveling with a 10 month old). Patty sent lots of helpful information and made sure we had everything we needed for our stay. We loved enjoying the cool weather in the mornings and evenings on the patio and in the hammocks. Highly recommend!

Amazing Glacier Experience

The best way to do Glacier National Park! The house was perfect for our family vacation with 3 families,11 people. The location, just outside of the park, was perfect for a pop-in or a full day of adventure! The hosts have thought of absolutely everything, from cooking gear, to outdoor kids games, to the perfect place to relax, to even including beach towels with bags for wet gear after a float down the river! The front porch was great for gathering, the fire pit perfect for smores, there was plenty of space to hang out together or to separate if a little quiet time was needed. In addition to the amazing house, the host also provided so many helpful tips and info about how to do Glacier! It was definitely a family vacation to remember!!!

Let's just start off by saying that Patty & John are AMAZING! They truly know how to make ones stay remarkable. The attention to detail, the recommendations, & hospitality that they provided was extraordinary! It has left us speechless! In addition, 3BB is GORGEOUS, a complete mountain retreat, decorated perfectly, and minutes away from GNP. There is nothing that wasn't considered. Anything and everything you might need is there! Extra blankets, spices, dishes, elevated cake stand, stocked indoor and outdoor kitchens, hot tub towels, supplies for your daily hikes, evening under the stars, & games for the little ones. You name it, it is there & at top quality! 3BB took our experience to the next level! They truly know how to make ones stay remarkable! We are a multigenerational family, sometimes it's hard to find a place for all of us to stay. 3BB is a very large house with ample room & multiple bedrooms for most families-we just had an extra-large family gathering & they assisted us with allowing an RV to be on the property as well, which made for even better accommodations. We were able to tell stories on the back deck, celebrate a 50yr wedding anniv, & see wildlife right out the window. This amazing location allowed for all of us to recreate memories our parents wanted to share, but it also allowed to start new traditions & memories with some of Patty & John's suggestions! Words cannot express the gratitude we have for 3BB! So blessed to be about of the 3BB family!

Thank you for such wonderful feedback—and especially for trusting Three Bear Basecamp with such a meaningful week for your family. Knowing that you were able to return to Montana together, celebrate your parents’ 50th anniversary, share stories & watch wildlife from the decks, pick huckleberries, soak in the hot tub after Glacier adventures, and create new family traditions is exactly why we love sharing 3BB! It was especially meaningful to know that your parents first gave your family the gift of Montana—and that this reunion gave all of you the opportunity to return that gift to them. We loved hearing how the house, wooded acres, decks, indoor & outdoor kitchens, children’s spaces, hiking supplies, & RV site all helped your entire family stay together and enjoy such a special week. Your family was an absolute joy to host, and we feel truly blessed that 3BB could be part of your family’s story. Thank you for your extraordinarily kind words & for allowing us to play a small part in your family creating lifelong memories together. You will always be part of the Three Bear Basecamp family—and now that you have found us, we would be honored to welcome all of you back to Montana someday.

Three Bears Basecamp is a great homebase for exploring Glacier National Park! The hosts are friendly and responsive, and provided concierge level assistance when planning a trip here. We were impressed with the beautiful private woodland surrounding the property. They have great amenities like a picnic pavilion, outdoor kitchen and grill, hot tub, fire pits and cozy outdoor living spaces. The inside is spacious and the pictures don’t do it justice! It’s even better in person! It’s lovely and tastefully decorated, just what you would expect for a place in Montana. The kitchen is well equipped to make gourmet meals for the entire family. The bunkbeds for the kids are so much fun! Only 1 mile from the West Glacier entrance, this place is ideally located to go back and forth into the park as well as to all the family friendly activities available nearby. I can see us spending year after year in this gem of a place! Thanks to the owners for providing this unique and comfy place where we got to create memories with the family! We will be back!

Absolutely amazing place to enjoy the natural beauty of Montana!

Three Bear Basecamp definitely lived up to its name as being the perfect basecamp to come back to after daily adventures in Glacier National Park or any of the countless activities the area provides. Being so close to the park entrance (2 mi /5 minutes) was clutch for making night trips into the park to take in some stellar star gazing. The attention to detail throughout the property was outstanding with beautiful woodwork, decor, amenities, cleanliness, and furnishings that were both comfortable and complementary of the surrounding area. Having reliable and fast WiFi internet throughout the property was super helpful when planning activities, uploading pictures, or needing to participate in a remote meeting. TV’s in all the rooms, two fire pits, and multiple outdoor seating areas made it easy to relax. Patty was an awesome host answering any questions and providing some great tips on places to explore! Can’t wait to return again to enjoy this property and the natural beauty & adventure that Glacier National Park and this area provides!

Trip of a Lifetime! - Honeymoon Glacier

Spending a week in mid-October at the 3 Bear Basecamp blew our expectations out of the water. The slower pace of the park in the fall, and the fact that 3BB is just minutes from the west entrance, allowed us to maximize our time in Glacier while still having adequate time to wind down in the evenings and enjoy all the amenities of 3BB. The beautiful cozy living room, fully equipped kitchen, hot tub, and upper deck fire pit were some of our favorites. Watching the sunrise in the morning and full moon by night from the upper deck were moments that we will always treasure. Patty was an incredible hostess, providing hike recommendations and personalized tips that allowed us to get the most out of our Glacier experience. Cool temperatures, golden aspen and cottonwoods, and the peaceful stillness of snowcapped mountains (with mountain goats!) completely captured our hearts. We can’t wait to come back!!

A fantastic place to relax and a wonderful base to explore Glacier National Park! My husband and I recently spent five days with a group of friends at Three Bear Basecamp. What a unique property! The owners have made this place feel like you’re arriving at a nature lodge but with every convenience you would desire. There is AC (although mostly not needed), WIFI, TVs (did not use because so much else to do), everything you want in the kitchen, a fire pit, a hot tub (great for after a long hike), and other extras too numerous to list. There are also plenty of outdoor patio and cooking options for enjoying the cool evenings and a lot of fun space for the kiddos to play outside, including a swing set and playhouse. If you’re lucky, you’ll even see the deer that regularly wander through Three Bear Basecamp! We could tell how much thought went into choosing every detail, including the artwork, which portrays beautiful vistas and the amazing history of this part of Montana. If you’re there to explore Glacier National Park (and who wouldn’t be) you will not find a better jumping off point. Less than two miles from Going to the Sun Road at the west entrance into Glacier National Park. We were there in minutes. This, combined with the host’s help as we put together our plans for our visit, allowed us to make the very most of our time in and around Glacier.

Thank you so much for this amazing five-star ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ review! We’re so happy to hear you and your friends had such a great stay at Three Bear Basecamp. It truly means a lot that you noticed all the little details—we’ve put a lot of heart into making the space feel like a cozy home away from home, with the modern comforts and generous spaces that help guests relax and recharge after a day full of adventures. It sounds like you really made the most of everything—from the hot tub and fire pit to the patio spaces and play area. And yes, the deer are practically part of the welcome committee—they love to wander through and add to the peaceful, wooded vibe! We’re especially thrilled to hear our local tips came in handy! Your photos from the kayaking spot and your big horn sheep sightings were such a treat to see—it makes us so happy when guests get to experience the magic of those places, especially at just the right times based on their travel goals. And you're right—being less than two miles from Glacier’s west entrance and Going-to-the-Sun Road makes it so easy to maximize your time in the park. That’s one of our favorite things about this location, too. Thanks again for staying with us and sharing your experience (and those awesome photos!)—we’d love to welcome you back anytime! 🐻🐻🐻

Exceptional Hosts, Perfect Location, Unforgettable Experience

This was our 5th visit to Glacier National Park, but our first time staying with John and Patty—and it transformed our Montana experience! Located just a couple of miles from the park entrance, their property offers the perfect blend of convenience and comfort for families wanting to maximize their Glacier adventure.John and Patty have been available with recommendations throughout the entire year, not just during our stay! Patty's advice was invaluable for booking jammer bus tours, whitewater rafting, and guided fly fishing—her specific suggestions made all the difference. From age-appropriate books to the playhouse and swing set that delighted our granddaughter, to letting us pick huckleberries from their patch (which we turned into pancakes, muffins, and steak glaze!), every detail was thoughtful. The space was perfect for three generations, including our daughter-in-law's first Glacier experience! Being so close to the park entrance meant we could easily pop back for meals, naps, or regrouping before more adventures. This proximity made traveling with our 11-month-old granddaughter so much easier and allowed our family to truly relax together.John and Patty go beyond just providing accommodation; they curate an authentic Montana experience. Their deep knowledge and genuine care elevated our family vacation from great to absolutely magical. We've stayed in many places over our multiple visits to Glacier, but none compare to the hospitality and thoughtful touches here!

5 Stars All Around!!

Look no further, hands down, Three Bear Basecamp wins in every way!! The house is beautifully appointed, luxurious and carried all the amenities (and more) for our family of five. The hosts, Patty and John were so accommodating, communicative and helpful during the reservation process. So much so, they gave us countless recommendations for dining, grocery shopping and hikes in the park! The location is absolutely perfect. Situated just a few minutes from Glacier National Park and a short trip from the airport and main highways, it minimized the time getting in and out of the park and heading into Whitefish and Columbia Falls. Central to everything, it made navigating the area a breeze. The home itself is on an amazing, large property, where you won’t be disturbed by tourists or cars. It was filled with wildlife, natural landscape and added charm like water features to give it a tranquil feel. We took walks, played and ate outside, had campfires and truly embraced the outdoors with the home’s modern amenities. It was the perfect family getaway for us and we couldn't have asked for a better experience. We will never forget Three Bear Basecamp! Thank you Patty and John!

Thank you Mark for your kind words and for trusting Three Bear Basecamp with your family’s first trip to Glacier National Park. It was our pleasure helping you successfully secure road reservations for each day of your visit, to share some favorite family-friendly places and hikes. It warms our hearts to see guests take full advantage of how close 3BB is to the park to be able to maximize time in Glacier, while still having time to relax, explore and play in our quite wooded property . We specially loved all the wildlife photos you captured both at Three Bear Basecamp and GNP! Thanks for sharing them. The countless deer, chubby squirrels and sweet chipmunks are frequently in residence at 3BB but your photo of the new fawn was exceptional! Your wonderful photography skills also capture the most beautifully colored pine marten we have seen on property! Soon your own three bears will be old enough to enjoy our favorite local swimming hole, rafting the wild & scenic Flathead and enjoy some terrific Glacier waterfall hikes that are just perfect for kids. Thank you for being such wonderful guests, we hope to see you and your family back at 3BB building more life-long memories.

Perfect Family Retreat Just Minutes from Glacier National Park

Glacier National Park was the highlight of our family of seven’s (5 kids ages 3 – 12) cross-country road trip, thanks in large part to the comfort, amenities, trip planning help, and convenience provided by Three Bear Basecamp. The location couldn’t be better. It’s so close to the west entrance of Glacier that we could pop into the park for a quick sunset drive or a little stargazing. The property is incredibly peaceful—perfect for unwinding after a big day on the trails. We loved grilling out while watching a mama deer and her two fawns wander by. The kids had a blast with the swing set, sandbox, playhouse, and other toys, while adults appreciated the hot tub under the stars.A lot of thought went into the design of the home giving it so many thoughtful touches and “soft spaces” inside and out—places to gather as a family, but also spots to retreat, read a book, pick huckleberries, or just have a little quiet time. Its great WiFi (even outside) made it easy to stay connected with work when needed.John and Patty were full of fantastic suggestions for making the most of our time in the park and for other stops on our road trip. They even helped us snag tickets to the Logan Pass Star Party! It’s so clear they truly care about their guests having the best possible experience, and their hospitality made a great trip even better. We’re already talking about visiting again. This place is a gem. Thank you for everything!

Three Bear Basecamp (3BB) is the realization of our family's dream to have a place right next to our favorite destination in the lower 48: Glacier National Park.

Our journey began back in the mid-1980s when we met in college in Florida. Patty, an avid hiker and camper, had spent years exploring all National Parks across the U.S. as a child. She would often tell John about the wonders of these parks. John, the youngest of seven, hadn’t traveled much, so while he understood how special the parks were to Patty, it wasn’t until our honeymoon in 1994 that he truly grasped the beauty of the American West. We took a spontaneous 14-hour road trip from the Rockies to the Grand Canyon, and traveling through Colorado and Utah at sunset, John was hooked.

A few years later, we started exploring National Parks as a family with our three young sons. When John asked Patty which park was her favorite, she immediately said Glacier—a place that had captured her heart in the early 70s. That was it! Glacier became the destination for our next big family adventure.

Over the years, we’ve explored countless National Parks, camping, hiking, and kayaking across the continent a dozen times. But starting in 2006, we spent 13 out of the next 15 years exploring Glacier. We've also organized group trips, multi-generational family adventures, and scout troop excursions in this incredible area.

We love Glacier, and we’re thrilled to share this special part of the world with others. Whether this is your first visit to Glacier or your twelfth, don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.

Why they chose this property

We explored many areas in Northwest Montana over the years, focusing on Flathead County and considering locations around Flathead Lake, Whitefish, and throughout the valley. But eventually, we asked ourselves a simple question: Why spend our precious family time driving to the places we love most?

Everything we enjoy—laughing with family and friends, hiking, kayaking, biking, rafting, swimming, backpacking, horseback riding, stargazing, watching the northern lights, picking huckleberries, and simply relaxing—was right here, next to Glacier National Park and just outside the busy Flathead Valley.

With Montana’s summer days being so special, we wanted to spend less time in the car and more time outside. Location became our top priority. From here, you have quick access to Glacier National Park and countless outdoor adventures, while still being close enough to enjoy the shops, restaurants, and live music of the Flathead Valley when you want them.

At the same time, this neighborhood offers the peace and quiet we value most—a serene, wooded setting filled with wildflowers and wildlife, away from traffic and peak-season park noise. It’s a place to truly unwind after full days of adventure.

For us, this location offers the perfect balance: epic beauty and outdoor access paired with genuine calm and privacy. If that resonates with you, we’d love to welcome you to Three Bear Basecamp—an ideal home base for exploring Glacier National Park and experiencing the best of Northwest Montana with the people you love.

What makes this property unique

What makes Three Bear Basecamp unique is the balance it offers—true peace and privacy just minutes from Glacier National Park.

While Glacier welcomes over three million visitors each year, our home is tucked into a quiet, wooded setting where guests consistently comment on how calm and secluded it feels. You’re close enough for effortless access to the park, yet far enough away to fully unwind without traffic, congestion, or noise.

Three Bear Basecamp was intentionally designed for comfort and connection. There are no futons, sofa sleepers, or converted spaces—only real beds and thoughtfully designed living areas that allow groups to gather while still enjoying privacy. Guests often mention that the home feels more like a private retreat than a rental.

What truly sets us apart:
• A peaceful forested setting on 8 wooded acres
• Less than 2 miles from Going-to-the-Sun Road
• Central A/C and heat, fast Wi-Fi (inside and out), and a full-house backup generator
• Exceptionally clean water with reverse osmosis, UV filtration, and water softening
• Multiple indoor and outdoor gathering spaces
• A large elevated deck, three fire pits, a fully equipped summer kitchen, and a premium 6-person hot tub

After decades of exploring Glacier and the surrounding area, we’ve designed Three Bear Basecamp around what actually enhances a stay here—comfort, reliability, and space to truly relax. We’re always happy to share local insight and recommendations to help guests make the most of their time.

If you’re looking for a peaceful, well-equipped home base near Glacier that prioritizes quality, comfort, and quiet, Three Bear Basecamp is a truly special place to stay.
