This delightful 19th century limestone cottage nestled at the foot of the Burren Hills is situated on the coast road between Kinvara (12km) and Ballyvaughan (8km). Aisling cottage is ideally situated for exploring the local attractions, including historic sites, beautiful hiking trails, and charming local shops and restaurants. Whether you’re looking to immerse yourself in history, enjoy outdoor adventures, or simply relax ours is the perfect home from home. The cottage is over 200 years old and was lovingly restored by my husband and myself. in 1988. The cottage garden is a big favourite with our guests.
Aisling cottage is over two hundred year old and the original family were stone masons which counts for the wonderful craftsmanship in its building.
Aisling it self means dream poem. We are never surprised by the creative people that our home attracts. We have many return guests who just fall in love with this little cottage
Earlier this year the cottage got a facelift and now has two separate spaces to let. This larger original apartment 'Aisling' sleeps 5. Two doubles and one single, there are two bathrooms. One on the ground floor and one on the first floor.
In the spacious living room one of the main features is the original fireplace which still stands and now hosts an excellent Baltic wood burning stove. We have WIFI TV with Netfleix (but you must use your own password log in)
We have a large s selection of books to browse.
The fully equipped kitchen the heart of the traditional cottage complete with antique dresser, oil burning stove providing central heating and gas cooker and microwave.
The utility room has a washer and dryer.
The delightful cottage garden will provide you with the perfect backdrop for a morning coffee or glass of whatever you are having yourself after a days hill walking. It is close to Corcomroe Abbey. There is also a wealth of Archeological sites to discover in this area. There are guided walking tours with the reknowned guide Mary O Dea Hidden Burren Walks. The famous Flaggy Shore with it's spectacular view of Galway Bay is just 3 miles away - here you will find Linnane’s Seafood Restaurant and Bar - traditional music still thrives in the Burren region and Pub sessions can be found most nights in both Kinvara and Ballyvaughan.
Aisling Cottage is ideally located to explore not just the Burren region, as it is just a 45-minute drive from Galway City and the Gateway to Connemara. Day trips from Doolin are available to the world famous Aran Islands.
Beautiful safe beaches within a mile or two of the cottage. Surfing is also hugely popular in Fanore, just a half an hour drive away.
Golfing at the world famous Lahinch Golf links. For those who wish to go underground then you are in the right place in the Burren which is dotted with caves including the famous Ailwee twenty minutes away and Doolin caves a further half hour and while there you can sample the world famous Doolin music.
We live just next door and are always available for advice and a chat to make you feel at home in this magical part of the world

About the host
Hosted by Connie Tyrrell

This area of the Burren was so special to us for its music, beautiful walks, stunning coastline and warm friends and neighbours We would love to have you join us on your next holiday to Ireland.
Why they chose this property
My late husband and I both fell in love with the area before we met each other and by the time I met Sean, he had found and bought all two walls, a chimney and a half acre of wilderness. He had left it sit for a few years until I came along. Then together with help from good friends we slowly renovated the cottage. To be honest the whole place has been a labour of love. We were always planning and scheming about what needs doing next. Sean passed away in 2021 but I continue to live and love Aisling for all the wonderful memories it has provided and the good times to come.
What makes this property unique
One of the first thing that seems to appeal to our guests time and time again is the warm peaceful energy that the cottage and garden holds. The cottage has always been a home for creative people it is a place that feeds and inspires the imagination.
