3 Bedroom 2 Bathrooms With Stunning Ocean Views From Every Room
About Robert MacIver
My wife is an artist from the area and loved the unique location and wanted to live there since she was a child. We finally built our home in 2004 but we now live in England. We decided to rent to holiday visitors because we felt it was a waste to have such a beautiful home empty for most of the year.
Robert MacIver purchased this Cottage in 2004
Why Robert MacIver chose Burren
Our house is a traditional stone cottage but is architecturally designed to have all the mod cons including underfloor heating as well as a wood burning stove. It has a top quality kitchen and furnishings. It is on the seafront with a safe walled garden and very short walk to a sandy beach, an art gallery and renowned seafood restaurant/pub.
What makes this Cottage unique
The stunning location overlooking Galway Bay. The house is near some fantastic coastal walks, beaches, prehistoric sites, castles and some of the world's finest golf courses.

Several issues, water pressure in shower almost non existent, "off street parking " is dangerous to say the least, the post in the middle of bottom of the steps leading to the front door makes it very difficult to get in when you are carrying suitcases. could not get the oveo to work, and the tv did not work at all.
We are sorry you were disappointed. The water pressure is gravity fed so is not pressurised. We are presently installing a pump to increase the pressure. Unfortunately the post by the front door is needed to hold up the porch roof. I'm not sure how the vacant space for parking is dangerous but will have a look. The kitchen and oven is new with a flat glass top with digital touch screen operations. We will make sure the instructions are more easily visible. Thank you for letting me know the tv is not working. I will instruct a tv repair to visit.
Wonderful Week on the Flaggy Shore
We loved our stay at Swallow Cottage. The walks along the shoreline are spectacular and there is some interesting country lanes behind as well. The everchanging seas are a wonderful backdrop. The house itself is fully equipped and a nice size for 6 people. We found 2 bathrooms a bit of a challenge at times but we knew that before we booked so no complaints. The Flaggy Shore was central to our daytrips. Traffic to Galway was challenging at times, but we perservered. And it is easy access to The Burren and Cliffs south of it. Kinvarra is close enough to buy groceries, etc. easily. We highly recommend Swallow Cottage.
Many thanks Anne we are pleased you loved Swallow cottage and enjoyed exploring the beauty of the area.
Lovely Flaggy Shore
This was the most relaxing vacation ever. The property was PERFECT in every way!
Thanks Debra. Pleased you thought thought the house and area was perfect.
Fantastic seaside cottage
I absolutely loved this place. A completely modernized cottage built right into a stone foundation/facade with all the amenities you would need, right on the ocean. You can open the windows and listen to the sounds of the waves crashing all day. In fact, the unit is almost entirely surrounded by floor-to-ceiling windows.
Thanks Jason. So pleased you loved the place.
Wonderful place to relax and reconnect
Rented for two weeks, to share with family and friends. House is perfectly situated along edge of bay and is perfectly kitted out for cooking and relaxing. Bracing walks along the just-out-front shore road make enjoyment of local ice cream and Guinness all the better. Pre-rental communication with owner and duration messaging with property manager perfect. Car essential: one excellent pub/seafood restaurant about a 15/20 walk away, grocery shopping 20 min by car, Galway 45 min. We did take the once-a-day bus into Galway with good experience. The local beauty of the Burren, walking routes for all levels, artisanal food providers in adventurous drive range, lively farmer’ markets in nearby villages, and County Clare hospitality make this a very special spot.
Many thanks for the lovely review. We agree, it is indeed a very special spot.
Great place to call home for five days
We had a wonderful stay at Swallow Cottage. It has wonderful views and everything we needed plus more. I would return in a heartbeat.
Such a lovely review. thanks.
There are so many things to do in the area. As the house is on the beautiful Flaggy shore and 'Wild Atlantic Way', one of Irelands best coastal walk starts right outside the house. The scenery is spectacular. On one side of the house is Galway Bay and the Altantic Ocean just a few metres from your feet. On the other are fields and limestone mountains, ideal to climb and have a picnic with 360 degrees of stunning views. The house is on the beautiful Flaggy Shore with a beach and rock pools which at low tide you can forage for sea life. If you like fishing just walk 10 metres to the sea, or if you prefer just slip into one of the many small coves for a bracing swim. The local villages of Kinvara and Ballyvaughan have markets selling fresh local produce as well as superb bars and restaurants. Galway City across the bay is full of modern shops as well as old cobble streets with Irish music coming from the many bars. The Aran Islands which are in view from the house can be reached by ferry from Doolin (an hour away). The islands are also great for walking and cycling around. The Doolin ferry also goes to the Cliffs of Moher. The extraordinary Ailwee Caves are well worth a visit and just a 10 minute drive away. The house is in the tiny village of Newquay which in my opinion has one of the world's best seafood bar/ restaurant. The nearby Russell Art gallery a few hundred metres from the house has very good teas, coffee, cakes and snacks.
