About the host
Hosted by Maire MacDermott

My name is Maire, I have been hosting Nile Lodge for many years.
I have particularly loved meeting the many wonderful guests who have stayed here over the years. I especially love welcoming the descendants of Irish immigrants who come to Ireland in a faithful journey to pay homage to their ancestors.
I also love welcoming back people who have left our shores in recent years and have a great emotional attachment to Ireland.
Of course I love welcoming new and repeat visitors to Ireland.
I love trips out the country, there is pleasure in every direction and different types of experiences, from the beautiful hills and lakes of Connemara to the barren beauty of the Burren.

I like the bookshops and the coffee shops and the little cafes and wine bars.
I love walking the seaside promenade and especially love watching the diving and swimming around Blackrock diving tower at high tide.

What makes this property unique
I love the exceptional history of the house and that it has been around through so many important events in Irish history. It is great also that this house gave its name to the area surrounding it.
It also is great that it has had so few previous owners and that this is probably the reason that it is so un spoilt.
