Very comfortable accommodation with breathtaking views of Galway bay, we even saw dolphins one morning. A good base from which to explore Galway and the surrounding areas.

This one is a mixed bag. First, the not so good: the house needs a deep clean. There were many things that would be remedied with a basic deep clean and attention to the property, without spending much more than time. It was not up to VRBO standards I have witnessed in over 15 years of using the site. Not even close. It wasn't gross or unlivable nor did it result in me complaining to the host while I was there. We stayed and frankly it didn't bother us too much, but it is a small amount of effort for a significant return. Many other guests may well have been properly bothered. The good: the host and his family were attentive and responsive and welcoming, They are great and that's mainly why I hesitated to even write a review detailing the clean. The home is lived in by one member of the family from best I could tell (the pictures and personal artwork in the home added a nice touch) and while that may explain the condition, it doesn't excuse it. I would not doubt, had I complained, that the other family members (resident/host was away on travel) would have paid for a deep clean while we were there. I didn't want the intrusion so didn't ask. The great: the location and view make up for the condition. To wake up with a view of Galway Bay, being right on the beach, was remarkable. Sits on a very quiet, dead end street, you can walk to a handful of eateries, shops, coffee, grocer. 10 minute drive to Galway, day trip to Cliffs of Moher and Connomera NP were easy too.

Hi Max,
I am sorry to hear of your comments and expected same from our messages exchanged from the beginning of your stay.
I am responding and elaborating on our messages in the context of your comments below.
a). It would appear that the dryer broke down from as you thought from wet clothes been placed in it. I think that may be the case. When I return I will check the machine and advise you. . Normally wet clothes are either spun in the washing machine or washed before been placed in a dryer as they when wet depending on the fabric can be heavy, too heavy for a dryer. My Neice was fortunate to be able to purchase a new dryer and have it installed for you on the Tuesday,
b) Hot water. In your message to me you stated hot water ran out after twenty minutes. In Ireland and the UK and other parts of Europe hot water is provided by electrical elements heating cold water. The ones installed in this home are rapid reheat. However constant twenty minute continuous flow do not allow sufficient time for the water to replenish. The tank in our home heats 200 litres, yes twenty minutes of a power shower or two baths.
c ). Deep Clean. My Neice is particularity upset with that comment. She supervised the cleaning prior to your visit and had all windows closed during and prior to your stay. She noted that foliage, insects and pollen had floated into the house before and while the leaners cleaned for most of the day that Friday. Some insects she said were found in dark corners , pollen and dust elsewhere. All this due to the unprecedented hot weather been experienced in Ireland. She did observe that when she arrived at the house after you left that you had left all the windows wide open ! She was upset with your comment.
You mentioned that other guests possibly felt the same as you regarding cleanliness. No they have not as evidenced in the reviews and their many e mails to me. The guest before you left a review in German which is worth reading.
And we have never had an issue with lack of hot water, nor have we had any equipment broken. I accept you had the windows open as it was very warm . I think soon in Ireland and the UK people will have some form of air conditioning in their houses in the future if this global warming is not checked.
Yes it’s an outstanding place to vacation, however it is not America. It’s Ireland with all its frustrations, but a wonderful place to live and visit.

The house was clean and accessible. It was unseasonably warm temps and no AC, so a few nights were uncomfortable sleeping. Fans would be nice addition. Water was a bit tricky being an older house, occasionally air lock would occur and require turning on tap to get shower and/or toilet water flowing. Nice back yard with trail to sea. Would have liked to have cushions on the outdoor furniture as it was bare plastic and hard. Kitchen had all the normal things including toaster, coffee pot, pans, elec kettle, etc. Short 10min walk to Bearna and a grocery store and a few restaurants. Make reservations for Donnelly’s at the Pier, it was wonderful and they don’t take walk ins. Ted the owner was responsive and welcoming and eve ln left a small lot of provisions for us when we arrived.

Thanks for your review. Finally found the source of the air lick. And yes took your advise bought one fan. They were all sold out due to the heat, lucky to get one.
Thanks again
We took the red-eye from Boston to Shannon, which had us at the airport at 6:00 in the morning. We did our best to kill time, but by noon, we were tired and out of ideas. The owner of the property (Ted) had his cleaners start early so that we could at least drop our luggage. He had the place ready for us by 1:30, well ahead of the normal 4:00 check in.
Ted could not have been more gracious in providing a welcoming place to stay - he brought some grocery essentials to allow us to relax on our first day, and replaced a couple of deck chairs because he didn’t like the looks of the chairs that were there. He also replaced the toaster and tea kettle. All of this was done without our knowledge, so he wasn’t responding to requests or complaints from us. He was trying to make our stay as nice as possible. Mission accomplished.
As for the property itself, the online photos don’t do it justice. The view off the deck -and from three of the four bedrooms - was spectacular. A short walk got us down to the water’s edge and the view was even more spectacular. We brought nice weather with us, too
One thing the listing doesn’t really cover is the amazing location of the house. A 5-10 minute walk gets you to a half dozen restaurants, shops, and a grocery store, but the house is set back enough that all you hear is the waves crashing against the rocks. . In short, I could easily live there.
Thank you, Ted, for allowing me to spend my first visit to Ireland in your amazing place.
Paul
Unfassbarer Ausblick, die Wohnung ist deutlich größer, als wir dachten. Alles sehr sauber und liebevoll, für uns stand ein "Begrüßungs-Wein" bereit!Nur zu empfehlen!!!
