About this property

Vintage Camper Overlooking Seneca Lake

Our 1976 Silver Streak Supreme camper is a retro time capsule that’s been tastefully updated with comfortable furnishings and amenities. The 27 foot long aluminum trailer overlooks Seneca Lake through Shagbark Hickory trees where bald eagles occasionally perch. It's located in the heart of wine country, with at least 10 wineries within 10 miles as well as breweries, a cider house, and a distillery.

The private area around the camper includes a campfire ring with surrounding Adirondack chairs, table and chairs, grill, and a nearby large enclosed outdoor shower. The layout consists of an entry living room and kitchen, bathroom, and back bedroom. The living room has two large comfortable chairs, an ottoman, and table. The kitchen is stocked with cookware and tools, and includes a double sink, stove-top, oven, small retro microwave, and small retro refrigerator. The bathroom has a small indoor shower, toilet, and sink, and the bedroom has a full-size comfortable bed with plenty of cozy blankets. Please note that the camper ceilings are 76 inches high and the doorways are 18 inches wide.

There is no lake frontage available for guests to enjoy, however, Lodi Point State Park, Caywood Point, and Clute Park are available for swimming and picnicing. Kayak rentals are available in Watkins Glen as well.

There are two air conditioners that keep the camper nice and cool. There are three wall heaters that keep the camper comfortable from about May 15th through October 1st (i.e., when the average outdoor low temperature is 47°F or above). With all three wall heaters set to high, we estimate the inside temperature of the camper will stay above 65 degrees as long as the outdoor temperature stays above about 45 degrees.

The camper is located on a hill above a rustic/country-style neighborhood with summer cottages and homes. Please be aware that it is accessible via a steep road. We measured grade in several places and determined that the road is at an angle of 18 to 23 degrees from the horizontal. Guests will need to arrive in 4WD/AWD vehicles with good tires to navigate this hill and to park. There is enough parking space for two small vehicles or one large truck. Also, you can’t tow a boat on a trailer up this hill, but you probably could put a couple of kayaks on top of your vehicle or a couple of bikes on the back of your vehicle.

There is a TV in the living room and one in the bedroom. Each TV has a Roku remote, so if you can use your cell phone as a hot spot, you can watch a small number of Roku channel TV shows and movies. Or, you can log into your own account on Netflix, etc. There is also a bluetooth speaker in the bedroom. We don't supply internet.

Nearby attractions include 1) Watkins Glen State Park (the gorge), 2) Taughannock Falls State Park, 3) Watkins Glen Marina, with kayak and paddle board rentals, 4) Watkins Glen Clute Park, with swimming and a picnic area (on the southern end of Seneca Lake), 5) Lodi Point State Park, with swimming and a picnic area, 6) Finger Lakes National Forest, 7) Seneca Lake Wine Trail, 8) Deer Haven Park (white deer), and 9) Catherine Valley Trail, which is good for bike riding.

We did not end up staying here. We wanted to — we had just done a wine tour of the area and were excited to use the fire pit, the outdoor shower and cook dinner in the vintage camper. We couldn’t check in right away as the host’s cleaner had a miscommunication and hadn’t finished yet, but that was no problem because we were still on the wine trail. The host also explained that the grass was long because her mower was on vacation. Again, we were chill with this, things happen. But the smell of urine and stale smoke that hit us upon walking in could not be ignored. We opened the windows, hoping it would dissipate. That’s when we noticed the shirtless/naked man (?) in the trailer a few feet away. I texted the host that we were leaving and it got a strange response, she explained the man was her husband playing music with a friend, but he was temporarily blind so we shouldn’t worry about him… It was bizarre. All that being said, the furniture was period appropriate and the decorations were charming. Anyway, if you are in for an experience, this camper is for you!

We want our guests to be happy with our service/accommodations in every way. However, I went into the camper at 1:30 before your arrival, when I saw that our cleaner had forgotten to clean/prep it for you. Then, I went inside a few minutes after I saw your message that you had left, to see if I could smell urine or smoke. Both times I didn't smell either. Then I got my husband, and we checked everything. All of the burners on the stovetop lit, and the oven lit, so that was in order. We opened up cabinets and closets, and nothing. There wasn't even a smell of burnt grease in the camper, because it's pretty clean. Could it have been the ammonia in the cleaning spray that had just been used right before your arrival? Ammonia smells like urine. I also have some Fresh Wave odor remover gel in there. which has cedar and cinnamon in it. Could that be it? As I already told you on the message board, my husband and his friend were in his art studio playing music, and they took their shirts off because it was hot in there. You could see his friend through the window blind. He is a kind person to visit his blind friend and play music with him- not a scary or creepy looking guy at all. Also, the art studio blocks our view of the camper and its yard, so it provides privacy. We saw that you had to drive your truck with bad tires up our hill backwards, but you knew we had described the hill very well online. You thought you might get your money back if you left and made these claims.

Cute, fun stay.Do believe the host though when she says that a 4wd or all wd is recommended to get up the driveway. I did it with a front wd but it was a little dicey and I’m an old guy that’s driven a lot.Beautiful setting and great location for accessing wineries and other attractions Jerry

Beautiful vintage camper with a great view of the lake!

We only spent one night but we’ were so impressed by the condition, cleanliness and beautiful decor of the this cozy vintage camper. The owners were very informative, check-in/check-out was very simple. The yard was well maintained and we were able to sit and have a campfire while overlooking the lake. Unfortunately, it was too cold to use the outdoor shower but it is a great touch!! We would love to go back and spend more time! Made our anniversary very special❤️

Absolutely amazing!!!

you have to experience this to believe it. Everything was perfect from the initial communications to our stay. The camper is charming, clean, fully stocked and so retro. If you know the finger lakes, the location was breathtaking. Mary gave us recommendations that we took advantage of and they were spot on. We are hoping to continue visiting year after year. Thank you so much Mary and Mike.
