Pause from the world

There is absolutely no reason to leave the property development. The view of the lake from the decks was peaceful and renewing. There are hiking trails to explore. The Lodge is set with a buffer of woodland and lake. We didn’t fish but fishing is supposed to be superb. There was room for everyone to have a bedroom and bath. The pool and club house were an added treat. Jim and April were accommodating and helpful. I would suggest that the kitchen needs a facelift. The fireplaces were wonderful with a plentiful supply of wood. Windows do need to be cleaned as well as window sills.

We enjoyed staying at the Lodge. We had a wonderful time with our children, grandchildren and family. The house is spacious and great for entertaining. The children enjoyed making smores. We hiked to a waterfall. The clubhouse and swimming pool is beautiful. If you have any questions the property manager Jim is helpful.

The house is big and spacious. So happy we could bring our dog. We loved having three different locations to have a fire and hang out. We enjoyed the pictures and history around the house. The neighborhood is so private and has the most awesome trails and river that is a must see! Loved it!

Great property to enjoy time together

The grounds were beautiful. Super easy to get to. Gated communication was well planned out. House itself was mostly well designed and very spacious. Well stocked kitchen. We were 9 adults and no one felt cramped. Lots of TVs. The firepit by the lake was the highlight of the stay. Hiking trails within the community were fantastic.

Overall wonderful choice

The house is ideal for a family gathering. It had everything we needed, was clean and comfortable and designed to allow our large group to move around comfortably. We stayed during the winter holiday season and that might account for the fact that there was a mouse living in one of the downstairs walls, and there were no amenities available. I would suggest that it is better for warm weather rental if you want the amenities.

Couples Trip to the Catatoga Lodge

Enjoyed a perfect 4-day weekend trip with three other couples (all in our late 40s and early 50s) to the Lake Toxaway / Brevard area. The Lodge was everything we hoped it would be, with plenty of room for privacy for each couple, group cooking, and collective indoor hang time. Well-stocked kitchen that had everything we needed, master suites for every couple to enjoy (with two to spare), and tons of firewood to burn in the huge den fireplace, large lower-deck fireplace, and lake-side firepit. The outdoor space down by the water is what really made the trip special, as we spent every moment we could soaking in the beautiful and serene surroundings down by the water. We didn't see a single other person on the Catatoga property the entirety of our trip, so we truly felt like we had a whole state park to ourselves. Would happily and enthusiastically stay at the Catatoga Lodge again in the future. And plan to!

Getaway Perfected

My college and high school kids both had a great time. The space was enormous for us which was perfect to spread out on each floor. We hadn’t been able to take our family trip to Japan so we tried this instead. It was so relaxing and not too long to drive from Atlanta. My son loved canoeing since he’s had some health issues, this getaway was ideal with no one around us with the COVID risks. Cell service is very spotty but the house had perfect wireless and that is so important. Helpful Hunt: print directions since cell service is unavailable for navigation. ALREADY LOOKING TO GO BACK ! Thank you for sharing your home.

wonderful family vacation spot

If you are looking for a great quiet family vacation spot right on the lake this is it! My husband and I were celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary with our 3 children, their spouses and 8 grandchildren...The house was amazing and gave us plenty of room to spread out, each of the 6 bedrooms had their own bathrooms which made it so nice... the children loved the access to all kinds of water activities which included kayaks, canoes, and paddle boards right out our back door, and did i mention fishing, so fun for all... There was also a club house near by with a beautiful large pool and game room...We did not feel the need to leave the resort, there was even a wonderful hiking trail to a waterfall starting right near our backyard...The kitchen was totally stocked for any amount of people that would be using the house...I would highly recommend this beautiful lodge for any kind of family vacation in fact we have already booked again for next year...

Fabulous Family Vacation

We had a great time at the beautiful Lodge at Catatoga, celebrating a recent family marriage. The Lodge was larger than our needs, but on the other hand, we had plenty of space to spread out and relax. Even at full capacity, the house has ample comfortable lounging areas on every level, indoors and out. The house is secluded and it provided exceptional peace and quiet tranquillity that we all enjoyed. The lower level covered porch with fireplace was a favorite place to enjoy the view with morning coffee, afternoon rain showers and cocktails, or evening fires. We very much enjoyed Catatoga Lake for fishing, SUP and kayaking, hanging out on the dock, and walking the private trails. We also took advantage of the pool, and the hot tub (😍), as well as the pool table inside the clubhouse. The proximity to Lake Glenville was convenient for fishing and pontoon boat outings, and we took a day trip to Highlands. All in all, we loved our time together and the Lodge provided a great space for us to gather.

Overall A Great Time

My husband and I stayed for 16 days and had two grandchildren on the weekends along with their parents one weekend. We could not have asked for a more beautiful setting on the lake and thoroughly enjoyed all that the property had to offer. We hiked on the property as well as in the Pisgah National Forest which was an easy 25 minute drive. We appreciated the well stocked fireplaces and the size of the bedrooms. The house is clearly planned to keep a large group comfortable and the house offers a lot of space. WiFi worked well but cell service was very spotty but not unexpected. I think the disappointment came from the condition of the house. It is clearly showing significant wear which is exacerbated by very poor attention to cleanliness. One is immediately struck by the filthy large windows that overlook the lake as you enter the living room. Cobwebs and grime obstruct what would be a lovely view. We found a number of cobwebs and spiders in various rooms of the house starting the first night. The furniture in the living room needs to be replaced as most cushions are completely “sat out.” While we were there the temperature outside dropped to 42 degrees overnight and not a single bed had a blanket on it. We managed to find a couple of blankets in a closet downstairs which I washed and put on two of the beds. Luckily we did not have a house full of guests so we managed, but that is not adequate for a 6 bedroom house. We also had to endure roof repair for 3 days. The workmen were very respectful and apologetic but it was far from peaceful. The hardwood floor in the main room and kitchen is buckling and you can feel the slope of the kitchen floor. As noted in other reviews we were provided with only a few extra garbage bags, toilet paper and paper towels, again inadequate for a 16 day stay. However, when I asked the property manager he responded quickly as he did to all questions and saw that we were well supplied. Overall the good far outweighed the bad and we would love to return because we did enjoy our time there. I would like to know that the cleanliness and maintenance issues had been addressed before returning.

Very Nice location. Entry was easy and well coordinated. Bedroom layout for 6 couples was good. Kitchen was small for the size of the lodge. With the property being in the woods, the exterior of the lodge (windows and screen doors) to be better maintained. Overall a good venue for a large group.
