Just steps away from the Coquille River, the charming Norwegian Ship Captain's house has three tranquil bedrooms (equipped with two king beds and one queen bed) and two full baths (one with a custom tiled step-in shower and one with a claw-foot soaking tub). It provides the best of both worlds: a peaceful country feeling yet a five-minute drive to the beach and the adorable town of Bandon by the Sea. This spacious home boasts a full kitchen with oven, stove, microwave, and fridge, outdoor eating spaces, and a fenced yard.
Built in 1906, the Norwegian House is a two-story wooden home in Prosper Village, Oregon. It features original shiplap walls, windows, and floors, plus a lovely wood stove for cozy evenings. It gets wonderful light in every room.
The house is located among a group of other houses very close to the Coquille River. You can walk down the long, curved driveway and cross the street to reach the river, where you can enjoy 30 feet of shared riverfront access any time of year. We have a dock where you can relax and watch the birds, and you are welcome to make a fire in the fire pit.
This is the perfect house for you if you enjoy old, quirky homes. It has all the amenities you expect from a modern home - such as WiFi, TV with ROKU, coffee maker, and central heat - but it's an old farmhouse that has settled unevenly, so the floors and counters are slanted. If you are a square-angle kind of person, this is probably not the place for you. Uneven trim and worn floors are part of the charm.
All beds have duck duvet comforters with high thread count organic sheets. Most people rave about how comfortable the mattresses are, but they are on the soft side. If you have back problems and require a very firm mattress, they may feel too soft for you.
We take care to make this an environmentally conscious place that is suitable for people with allergies and fragrance sensitivities. We do not allow pets and clean the house with only eco-friendly, non-toxic cleaners.
