Our house, Bakki, is the perfect base for your Icelandic holiday. Have a memorable day at Snæfellsjökull National Park, visit a natural hot spring like Deildartunguhver, or amazing waterfall like Hraunfossar. Other interesting places to visit are, the active volcano Grábrók, the crater Eldborg, historical viking landmark Reykholt, and taking a walk into the glacier Langjökull. You can stroll through the nearby cozy town of Borgarnes and drop by the cafe’s, museums, shops and restaurants. Take a drive to the capital Reykjavík with all its glory, nightlife and culture. Make a day trip on the Golden Circle and see the exploding Geysir with all its natural power, and drop by the historic Thingvellir National Park, and view close up the beautiful Gullfoss waterfall. In the evenings you will always come back home to this modern architecturally designed house in Helluskógur and the first thing you might do is, relax in the hot tub and enjoy the views or the Northern Lights in the peace and quietness after a memorable day.

The house has an open kitchen-living room with a large kitchen island. It is very spacious and ideal for family and friends preparing a good meal together. The kitchen has all necessary tableware and high quality equipment for cooking and baking. The living room has floor to ceiling windows and an amazing view. Even if you are inside it feels like you are still completely connected to nature. In the living room you will find books and magazines to read, films to watch on the large flat screen TV. The bedrooms are cozy and comfortable with high quality beds and a beautiful view. The main bathroom is spacious with a long wooden countertop and a large shower room.

The design of the house is outstanding and well thought out. It has floor to ceiling windows, open space, hardwood floor, natural stone tiles, designed lighting and with one of the most advanced and environmentally friendly floor heating systems installed in houses today. The heating system is perfect and we can guarantee you a warm and cozy house in the winter time. The house is designed by one of our best architects, Sigurður Hallgrímsson who designed many of our spectacular modern houses in Iceland.

On the large patio surrounding the house is a nice hot tub that fits up to 7 people, outdoor shower, outdoor kitchen with a barbecue grill and comfortable outdoor seating. The patio is perfect for making a good meal and relaxing in the peaceful environment. Beside the house is a grass lawn which is surrounded by a birch forest, ideal for kids to play.

We have been connected to Borgarfjörður since childhood and would like to share good advice and information about the house or the area so don't hesitate to send us an email request about anything you would like to know and we will do our best to help you.

The house is beautiful and exactly as appears in the photos. Four adult friends stayed at this lovely rural location that is wonderful for a quiet and extremely comfortable stay near all of the beauty of west Iceland. The rooms and hot tub were exceptionally clean and in perfect functioning. The kitchen was well-stocked with everything that we needed. The host provided us with exquisite helpful details, communicated promptly when needed, but also gave us complete privacy. We were able to see the Northern Lights several times from the deck! We all agreed that we would be happy to stay there again. :)

This house was perfect!

Our family spent 2 nights here while we explored the Snaefellsnes peninsula. Location was great, house was very clean and well supplied. Beds were very comfortable and the hot tub was an added bonus after a long day! We would absolutely stay there again.

Perfectly Comfortable Home

Coming from the US, we were pleasantly surprised to find this home had everything we have at home, making for a comfortable stay. House is spacious, clean and has ample room for 5-6 people. A peaceful setting with tons of privacy, great views too. Host was responsive to any question we had. Would absolutely stay here again and HIGHLY recommend!

Beautiful Holiday Home

We stayed at this property for 4 nights and absolutely loved it. It was very well appointed and had everything we needed, even plastic plates/cups for kids, children's books and the toys for the kids were a really nice touch. The one time I contacted the owners during our stay the response was almost immediate. I would highly recommend and definitely stay here again!

Perfect stay !

We booked a week in November ‘24 for my 80th birthday bucket list to see the Aurora. Although weak we did see it several times. Perfect beautiful house and location. Very highly recommend this place. Iceland scenery is a “wow” round every corner!!

Comfortable remote stay in Iceland!

My family stayed here for 2 nights at the end of our holiday Iceland trip from the states. The host had great communication and was very prepared with check in and home instructions. The place was very clean and we felt very comfortable during our stay. We only wished we stayed a little longer to be able to see all the sights in the area. Would definitely recommend renting this home for an experience outside of the city.

Beautiful home in a great location!

This was the perfect place for our family to end our two weeks in Iceland! The home is beautiful, clean, comfortable and very well-equipped. It's so peaceful, and the views are spectacular. Comfortable beds, great kitchen, and the view from the hot tub is amazing. Definitely would come back, and highly recommend it!

Amazing house, amazing location!

This is a truly great house with stunning scenery. Never had breakfast with quite such a view before. Spent three days exploring the surrounding areas and three nights watching the northern lights. All in all a great experience and Heidi was a helpful, friendly host. Will definitely be back!

Wonderful home in Borgarnes area

Fantastic place for a family to stay! Everything is super clean. The coffee machine is amazing! Would 100% recommend Heidi and Rob’s wonderful home near Borgarnes! Heidi is extremely organized and responsive. We truly hated to leave.

Great house in the country

My family of five stayed in this comfortable home outside of Borgarnes. It was a great place to spend three nights for our exploration of western Iceland. The hosts are friendly and helpful. The home is modern and spacious. If you want a place to stay where you feel like you are away from it all yet close enough to a grocery store, stay here!!!

A luxurious and comfortable property

The property is located in a truly spectacular landscape which is both peaceful and tranquil. Every modern convenience was provided in a fantastic family-oriented layout within a very well designed, modern building. The nearest town 10 mins drive away has everything you need including a great (and cheap) swimming pool with inclusive access to no less than 3 geothermal hot-tubs and a steam room ! My family really enjoyed our stay at the cottage and would highly recommend this cottage to anyone looking to experience Iceland.It was clean, well maintained and the internet access was exceptional! Many thanks Robert and Heidrun for a fantastic stay. We will return :-) We booked this property many months before we traveled. Communication with the owners - Heidrun and Robert at all times before, during and post our stay was excellent.

The house has everything you need for a comfortable stay. The layout of the house is very nice, there were some toys and games for the kids to play with and a separate TV. We enjoyed the hot tub and the overall space available inside. We were lucky to see an amazing Northern Light show on two different nights!

The place was easy to find with directions and was perfect. The boys and my husband used the hot tub, it was clean and worked well. There was a handy outdoor shower. Just an exquisite home -- beautifully designed, clean, and well maintained -- that's in the perfect location for exploring the Snaefellsness Peninsula! It's an easy drive to both the north and south coasts that take you to some of Iceland's most iconic locales. Borganes is an easy 10-minute drive to get provisions. We were a group of seven, including three school-age kids, and the home gave us more than enough room for both private and gathering space, and the kids loved playing outside. The kitchen is well equipped (a must for me -- the cook!), and the hot tub was a welcome amenity at the end of a long day of hiking and exploring. Another sensory bonus is the mountain vista out the front door -- watch for sunsets!

Unhygienische Küchenausstattung zu Hochpreisen

Leider sprechen wir aufgrund der von uns gemachten Erfahrung keine Empfehlung aus! Wir hatten diese hochpreissige Unterkunft (Nacht ca. 400) für 4 Nächte gebucht, in dem Glauben einen hohen Standard zu buchen. Vor Ort stellten wir am ersten Abend leider fest, dass wir weder die Pfannen benutzen, noch auf den Grill ausweichen konnten, da diese so verschmutzt waren, das sie nicht benutzt werden konnten. Das selbe galt leider für den Backofen und Mikrowelle, Kaffeemaschine, etc. (Fotos, dass wir nicht übertreiben zur Verdeutlichung anbei). Der erste Abend war somit mit Essenumplanung (wir hatten uns ja auch bewusst diese Unterkunft ausgesucht, weil wir gemütlichen zusammen kochen/grillen und in Ruhe genießen wollten) verdorben. Die Vermieter haben uns dann lediglich um 21.00 UHR (viel zu spät um dann noch mit dem Essen zu beginnen!) zwei Pfannen vorbei gebracht und uns angeboten, am nächsten Tag die Wohnung reinigen lassen. Sie haben es leider nicht verstanden, dass wir im Urlaub, an den wenigen Tagen und bei diesem gebuchten Standard keine Lust hatten, uns nach Reinigungspersonal zu richten und ein Abend von den vier mit Ärger und nicht Nutzen können geprägt war. Nach Hin und her und viel Schweigen seitens der Vermieter wurde uns eine geringe Erstattung zugesagt, die auch nach Wochen nicht bezahlt worden ist. Das Haus ist räumlich sehr großzügig, wenn auch an einigen Stellen "in die Jahre" gekommen (teilweise kaputte Möbel, Whirlpoolbeleuchtungund und Funktion nicht komp

Amazing First Iceland Trip

We are a group of five friends who planned this trip almost two years ago. We had to pick off season due to our schedules. The weather/wind in Iceland was the worst it has been in 10 years, and we briefly lost power. Our host brought us a generator, coffee, pastries, and kept us updated every step. They checked in on us often and responded immediately to any questions or concerns. They have a very detailed book on property with instructions for everything. The house is amazing and stayed warm even when we didn't have power. It's beautiful, perfectly cozy, and well equipped for all that you could need. The town of Borganes was nearby and we loved being away from the big crowds. I loved Iceland so much, everyone was friendly and the environment is second to none. I can't wait to come back, and I would absolutely choose this host again!
