Víðines is a perfect base for your Icelandic holiday. Have a memorable day at Snæfellsnes National Park, visit a natural hot spring like Deildartunguhver, or amazing waterfall like Hraunfossar. Other interesting places to visit are, the active volcano Grábrók, the crater Eldborg, historical viking landmark Reykholt, and the Ice tunnel in the glacier Langjökull. You can stroll through the nearby cozy town of Borgarnes and drop by the cafe’s, museums, shops and restaurants. Take a drive to the capital Reykjavík with all its glory, nightlife and culture. Make a day trip on the Golden Circle and see the exploding Geysir with all its natural power, and drop by the historic Thingvellir National Park, and view close up the beautiful Gullfoss waterfall.

In the evenings you will always come back home to this modern architecturally designed house in Víðines and the first thing you might do is, relax in the hot tub and enjoy the views or the Northern Lights in the peace and quietness after a memorable day. The house has an open kitchen-living room with a large kitchen island. It is very spacious and ideal for family and friends preparing a good meal together. The kitchen has all necessary tableware and high quality equipment for cooking and baking. The living room has floor to ceiling windows and an amazing view. Even if you are inside it feels like you are still completely connected to nature. The bathroom is spacious with a large countertop, a large shower room and a warm towel rack. The house has all latest equipment; FREE WIFI, large flat screen TV, dishwasher, washing machine and everything between. See detailed facility and equipment below. The guest house has a double bed and a bathroom with a towel rack. Beside the guest house is an outside shower, perfect to use before entering the hot tub.

The design of the house is outstanding and well thought out. It has floor to ceiling windows, open space, hardwood floor, natural stone tiles, designed lighting and with one of the most advanced and environmentally friendly floor heating systems installed in houses today. The heating system is perfect and we can guarantee you a warm and cozy house in the winter time. The house is designed by one of our greatest architects, Guðfinna Thordarson, that has also designed many other modern houses in Iceland.

On the large patio surrounding the house is a nice hot tub that fits up to 7 people, outdoor shower, barbecue grill and comfortable outdoor seating. The patio is perfect for making a good meal and relaxing in the peaceful environment.

We have been connected to Borgarfjörður since childhood and would like to share good advice and information about the house or the area so don´t hesitate to send us an email request about anything you would like to know and we will do our best to help you.

Incredibly beautiful, clean, well-kept home in a stunning location. We stayed a few days in October and the home was so lovely. The owners were incredibly communicative and helped us troubleshoot an issue, even late at night. Couldn’t ask for more. We had a great time in this very nice, extra clean and comfortable house. The location and views are just fantastic. The house was exactly as described in the listing. We enjoyed lighting the fireplace every evening. Communicating with Heidrun was always easy and a pleasure.

Perfect place to stay outside the cities!

I can't say enough about the house! I was concerned the house would be hard to find since it doesn't not have a formal address the GPS can find and I was nervous to rely on the picture directions the owner sent, but they worked perfectly! The house is beautiful and immaculate! The floor to ceiling Windows give way to beautiful views. The bathroom was large and modern with an open shower and a half bath located in the portion of the house accessible from the outside was also modern and warm. All 4 rooms were simple and comfortable. Having a hot tub was icing on the cake and we utilized it every night. The location was amazing! 10 min walk to the waterfalls, down the road from Grabrok Crater (an easy assent with stairs) across from Hotel Bifrost and university and a convenient 20 min drive from Borgarnes or 1.5 to snaefellness peninsula. Heidirun was very responsive to my messages and easy to work with. Many of the 8 of us said the house itself was one of the highlights of our trip. I without a doubt will recommend her properties. Thanks again!!!

Modern house with splendid view and amenities

We loved this very modern house with its large glass windows and 180 degree view of the beautiful river valley and mountains beyond. It is beautifully designed inside and looked very new and clean. The living room was very comfortable, and with all the glass we felt as if we were in nature even when inside. The kitchen was well designed with modern appliances. We especially liked the large curved-screen tv which connected to the internet. We unfortunately did not have time to make use of the hot tub or large barbecue, but they looked very nice. When we sent an e-mail with a question to the owners, they responded immediately with an answer and provided lots of other helpful information as well. The house is in the countryside and completely quiet. We took a lovely walk directly from the house across the field and along the river to a nearby waterfall. In the sunshine the colors in the nature were stunningly beautiful. We found many interesting things to do in the area and also some excellent restaurants close by and in Borgarnes. Highly recommended!

Fantastic experience!

Our experience was right in line with the other five-star reviews. To be sure, for most Americans, the house is a little quirky, but that's more due to differences in cultures than anything else. For example, the light switches are different than switches in the US. And, if there's any slight suggestion, it might be a diagram of what light switches control what lights and how they operate. But that's it, that's the end of anything negative! The setting was so quiet and serene. We floated in the hot tub and watched the Northern Lights flicker and flash; viewing those had been on our bucket list and we were not disappointed! The river is *right* there and the spectacular Glanni waterfall is a 10 minute walk! There's a nice little golf course within a half-mile (1 km). There's a little convenience store in Bifrost, maybe 2 miles away, and they have enough to get you by, but you should plan on bringing you major food supply with you, and certainly any adult beverages, because they don't stock wine or alcohol. But a bag of ice is free there! As the clerk said, "Of course it's free, this is Iceland!" Haha! And, everyone was so nice and polite for our entire stay, no matter where we went. So, highly recommend. When we return to Iceland, we would definitely consider renting from Heidi and Rob again. They were immediately responsive when we got a little turned around on some instructions for the house. The house is well-stocked with all the kitchen hardware you'll need, and, although we didn't use them, there is a fantastic entertainment center if you're one to like TV. For us, we didn't travel to Iceland to watch TV though, not with the amazing scenery and light show provided all around. Thank you, Heidi and Rob. We hope to visit one of your homes again.

Great option if you want to stay out of Reykjavik. The nearby waterfalls are beautiful and just a short walk away. There was ample gathering space for our family of 5 with everyone getting their own room. Hot tub was lovely.

The house is beautiful with windows everywhere to help enjoy the amazing setting! Everything was extremely clean and very well taken care of. The kitchen was fully stocked. The outdoor shower (with heat lamp) was a treat each morning; and the hottub was awesome in the later afternoon. We used this spot to explore western iceland and it worked perfectly. Getting to the house was a little bit confusing- but only because of our unfamiliarity. If you just follow the direction as given, it is totally fool proof. Also, there is a river about 100 yards from the house which was a very nice surprise to us. Highly recommend this place!!!

Wonderful home

Amazing home, modern and well kept, with stunning views of the mountains and a great place for viewing the aurora borealis. A beautiful deck and hot tub, and a cute guest house with half bath a bit separate from the main house. A fireplace in the living room was very cozy. There were kids games and toys for different ages. Plenty of linens and towels provided, and the host was helpful and communicative, with easy arrival, check-in and check-out. The location was great for our adventures exploring Iceland in November. Would highly recommend for a family stay; we hope to return!!

Beautiful and peaceful

The house is beautiful, and the views from all the windows are wonderful. Being Canadian, we did need to turn the temperature down on some of the thermostats :) We enjoyed a fire in the fireplace with the supplied wood, and saw the northern lights from the hot tub. Bed was very comfortable and again, being Canadian, we adapted to having separate duvets on one bed! Instructions and directions were very timely and clear and made for a seamless arrival and departure. We loved it there, thank you for making our first trip to Iceland so comfortable!

Perfect stay

This is our third time in Iceland & we have stayed in a different part each time. I have to say that this location is ideal for getting to the north & the peninsula. The house is in a quiet location & it has everything you need. Everything is in great working order & it’s clean & homey. The communication with the owner is excellent & they have very thorough house instructions that I appreciate. I would gladly stay here again & I highly recommend it to others.

Iceland 2024

This house was absolutely perfect for our group of nine. The house was well stocked and the owners were wonderful with communication and information about the house and the surrounding area. It is located in the perfect place and we walked to the waterfall everyday and were able to climb the crater once. It was a good spot to feel relaxed, but close enough to Borganes to grab groceries etc. The house itself was lovely and the hot tub and scenery were perfect after a day of hiking.

Perfect stay!

We spent 3 nights here and really enjoyed our stay! It was the best accommodations of our trip. The house is welcoming and well equipped with everything we needed such as towels and kitchen supplies. The beds were very comfortable and everything was very clean. We enjoyed spending our evenings in the hot tub with the beautiful views of the mountains. There are a few other houses near by, but far enough away where the house still felt private and peaceful. We were able to walk to a nearby waterfall and enjoyed the many lupine flowers blooming in the area. We would highly recommend and hope to make our way back in the future!

It is such a nice holiday home, the house itself and the nature around it caught our attention. We love staying in Víðines and now we offer others to stay in our house and enjoy all it has to offer. The short distance to the town Borgarnes, where you can find all necessities, and to the Capital Reykjavík, is a very big advantage.

Location - The location of the house is ideal for exploring the west side of Iceland. There are short driving distances to many beautiful places in the nature such as waterfalls and craters. Museums and historical places are also nearby. There is only a 30 minutes drive to the nearest town, Borgarnes, where you can find for example a swimming pool, golf course, shops, bakery, restaurants, library and health care. A big advantage is the fact that many beautiful nature phenomenon are within walking distance.
