The yard was in closed so the kids could play in the snow outside - the place was so clean and the perfect size for our family - the only thing to keep in mind was you have to bring your own sheets and towels but that wasn't a big deal for us. We would recommend!!
It was the perfect place for our little family. The relatively large fenced yard was perfect for our 4 year old and 3 year old twin boys to play. I loved that there were lots of native plants in the yard to provide shade and wildlife viewing (Stellars jays, mountain chickadees, acorn woodpeckers, and chipmunks). The inside of the cabin was quaint and clean and just the right size. Would stay here again.

It was a great little cottage. And I appreciated that it was cozy especially at night. Didn’t really need covers with the heater. We were a little drive from the lake but it was close enough.
Thank you Bryan for sharing your little cozy cabin. The pictures perfectly show this beautiful home away from home. Cozy, quaint & a peaceful setting. Bryan is an excellent host, couldn’t ask for a nicer one. Will definitely be back.

Thank you for the kind review. FYI, immediately after you left I had an electrician put the fireplace on it’s own circuit. I never would have known if you had not said something. Hope to have you back again soon.

My family and I were very impressed by this cabin. It was clean, well stocked, and had the feel of home. If you enjoy the quiet mountain lifestyle, this cabin is for you. We came up for 4th of July fireworks at the lake, but didn't want to be in town where it is much busier. There is a nearby general store for any supplies you might need. I look forward to returning in the future

No internet .
The cabin had very poor internet wifi and owner doesn’t care about that I called him and he told me( it is what it is). Also the chairs had very bad quality because all of them would wiggle when we sat on them.

Mr. Patrick called me late in the evening regarding his concerns. He was very adamant that I needed to come to the cabin and fix the WiFi so he could text his kids, he had poor phone reception and the WiFi speed was slow. Oddly enough he was able to call me on the same phone?? I informed him that to date we had not experienced a problem with any of the previous renters, but I would check into it first thing in the morning. This angered him and I told him that I was sorry, but I am not a Comcast internet technician and know nothing about how this works. And yes I did say "that at this point it is what it is" .The next day I checked The internet and had no problems with speed and streaming.

So, this place isn't on a lake, or a village, but it is charming. It has a lot of space outside for playing and the road that it is on gets you right onto hiking trails.
The kitchen was well organized and we found we weren't short of anything that we were told to bring for ourselves.
What a wonderful place. While it is on the smaller side, it is very nice and well kept. Bryan was very attentive to our communication.
Apart from breaking my arm up at Summit, it was a wonderful stay! We will absolutely be back next year.

It was perfect for us. Very cozy cabin. The communication was fantastic. I was reminded of everything I needed to bring so that I didn’t forget. We had a very good time snowboarding during the day and playing games in the evening.
CONS:
- no linens provided (it says on VRBO but doesn’t seem to say so on Orbitz so be prepared. We missed that info and were caught off guard)
- very poor wifi (owner said nobody’s had problems before but we couldn’t even reliably read online, let alone stream movies)
- slow reaction-time by owner to calls/emails (& dismissive when he did respond)
- worst of all was the “fireplace”, which is just a digital screen with rocks in front that light up when turned on (fireplace implies fire, as in actual flames). For a fake fireplace, it was decent, but we expected a real fireplace (and had searched Orbitz with that as our primary filter).
We feel very misled bc I feel like the photos on Orbitz when we booked our trip showed a real fireplace but current pix do not (& I can’t say for certain that the pix I saw were different). However, we still feel misled as it’s not clear on the Orbitz site that this is not a completely fake fireplace (the photos aren’t clear and there’s nothing in the description to indicate it’s digital).
This cabin should NOT be advertised as having a fireplace. Again “fireplace” implies fire, which means actual flames. We definitely would not have booked this cabin if we knew what the “fireplace” was.
PROS:
- cute, clean cabin
- nice neighborhood w good restaurant nearby
- near hikes & trails
- some games & small # of DVDs
- spaced out property (not on top of neighbors)
- bedrooms on opposite ends of cabin
This place was lovely. My expectations based on the pictures, instructions, where so low. Just to come with a suburban packed with everything I thought I needed. I don’t know it people have been leaving things or if the owners updated everything but I barely required anything that was listed. It was beyond beautiful, full of snow, plenty of space for my husband and my 2 boys. We had an amazing stay and I was just in awe. I loved the homie feel, just adorable. I took pics but I’m not sure if I can post.

I have vacationed in Big Bear for over 12 years, and enjoyed the escape from the mad rush of the city.
Why they chose this property
I have vacationed for many years in the cabin next door to the rental and want to provide others with the same wonderful experience !!
What makes this property unique
The National Forest is located at the top of the street with several trails you can hike and picnic on. I personally enjoy the easy hike to the worlds largest lodge pole pine. Just make sure you remember where you started. I have several board games if you like.
