Boasting a charming low country exterior and a pristine pool within a beautifully landscaped site, our home stands as a luxurious vacation haven for friends and family to gather and relish. Nestled in the serene North Forest Beach, a secluded residential enclave, this abode is merely 100 steps from the ocean, offering access to one of the most private beaches on the island. A brief ten-minute stroll along the beach or the bike path leads you to the bustling Coligny Circle, featuring an array of shops, both fine and casual dining options, and markets.
The house's unique single-level design showcases a sunken living area and a distinct dining space with vaulted ceilings, skylights, and direct access to the private pool. Adjacent to the dining area is a convenient laundry room.
One master bedroom, isolated from the other three, features a king-size bed and an ensuite bathroom. The remaining three bedrooms are situated across the house; one boasts a king-size bed with an attached full bathroom, and French doors open to the pool deck and water feature. The other two bedrooms—one with twin beds and the other with a queen bed and a bunk bed share a bathroom. Additionally, there's a bunk room tailored for children up to 63 inches tall.
The property's fenced yard includes a sizable, heated pool (heat available for an additional fee), an outdoor dining section, a lounge area, and a grill, complemented by a private shower in the pool vicinity. The spacious screened porch provides for an additional dining or recreation area.
The home is equipped with an electronics package that includes high-speed internet, cable, several TVs with a 65-inch HDTV, and DVD/Blu-Ray players. Parking accommodates up to four vehicles. Great Location!

This was the first time staying on Jacana Street and we loved it! The house was in the perfect location with close proximity to the beach and to Coligny. My kids loved the pool and swam in it after coming back from the beach. The house had plenty of room for our family to relax and spend time with eachother. We were able to contact the Bookers easily and they were so nice to communicate with!

This is a lovely home, close to the beach, not a crowded area, and a convenient proximity to Coligney. The listing is very accurate, the owners are attentive to all details and great at communicating! Will definitely stay here again (this was our second time here).

Spring Vacation

This was the perfect place for our stay on HHI. It is very close to the beach and Coligny Plaza. The house is clean, has lots of room to spread out, and is stocked with everything you need. We will be booking this property again.

Great house in a great location

We had a group of 6 adults, 4 kids and had plenty of room! The house had everything we needed and we loved how close with was the the beach. We are already talking about booking it again.

October Family Vacation

The house is in a great location. Plenty of space and we loved the pool. We had grandparents, adult children and our grandchildren. A great time was had by all. This was our 4th annual October trip. I would recommend this house for anyone staying in the area.

Just steps away from the beach!

This property was so close to the beach! The heated pool was wonderful! Great screened-in porch! Needs some upgrades, including the oven, small refrigerator, could use a ‘deep cleaning’. Washer and dryer were nice! Overall experience was excellent! Would love to stay here again!

Lovely Place

This is a wonderful place close to the beach and off the beaten path so it's quiet (mostly - there were a couple of families that drove to the beach on golf carts beeping their horns the entire time down the road). Lovely pool in the back yard. Some updates could be had on the place but nothing serious. Would definitely stay again.

Perfect Holiday Getaway!

We stayed at this beach house near Coligny Beach on Hilton Head Island during the week of Christmas, and it couldn’t have been more perfect. Hilton Head was absolutely beautiful during the holiday season, and this home made our vacation even better.The house was the ideal size for our family of four, with a layout that gave everyone plenty of room to spread out and relax. It was immaculately clean and thoughtfully equipped with everything we needed. One of the highlights was just how close we were to the beach—being able to take a short stroll to the shore was amazing and made every day feel like a dream.Our overall experience was wonderful, and we’re so impressed that we’ve already booked another stay later this year! Thank you for providing such a lovely home—we can’t wait to return!

Wonderful Beach House!

We stayed at 21 Jacana in February 2021. It was our first time at HHI during February. The house, location and amenities were amazing! The house was so close to the beach and all the restaurants/shops of Coligny. Our teenage daughters loved the pool. The layout of the house was ideal for our family vacation. It was so relaxing. We would definitely stay at 21 Jacana again!

Perfect location

This beach home was perfect for our family! It was just steps away from the beach, yet close enough to Coligny Plaza and Beach. We could decide to be around others or retreat to our own piece of paradise. The kitchen was smaller than we are used to, but who is there to cook?? Not us!

What a great week in a beautiful house! The house was perfect for our family and extended family that came to visit, everyone had plenty of room. We made great use of the grill and cooked in several nights. The pool and proximity to the beach could not have been better! Wayne was great to work with and very responsive. We will be back next year!

Beach week

My family (3 year old, one and a half year old, husband and father) stayed for a week early this summer. The house was perfect for us with minimal stairs and easy access to the beach (both kids could walk the whole way) and a private pool. We would also walk (with strollers) down to Coligny Plaza for ice cream daily. The owner was very responsive and helpful. We had a great trip and would like to return to this property.

A++ house, location, so close to the beach!

The house was perfect for two families. We loved the house, floor plan, and it had new furniture upgrades that were not featured in the listing. The kitchen had all the needed dishes and appliances. The outdoor space features several sitting areas and we opted to heat the pool which was worth it for April. 1/2 block to the beach and 5 minutes to Coligney made the house a perfect location. The owners were very friendly and available for any questions. We would definitely rent again and look forward to our next trip in this home.

Wonderful homey charm with convenience!

We were snowbirds in this home for two months during Feb and March 2011. We loved being able to move in and immediately feel at home. We had stayed at the home for a week during a prior visit and knew what we were going to find when we got here. With only a few steps to the beach and wonderful bike paths nearby, we had many options for fun things to do right out our door. The amenities are accurately reflected in the listing and the owners were very responsive to our needs. We will certainly consider renting this home again when we come back to the island..

Perfect location

Another reviewer mentioned this was their "happy place" and I can see why! The location is second to none! A house or two away from the beach made "trips home" to use the restroom or grab lunch easy. The proximity to the bike trail made biking into Coligny plaza a daily event for drinks, ice cream, candy from POPS or a meal. Grocery stores were a short drive. The pool in the backyard kept our two boys (7 and 9) happy more than once each day! This is truly an incredible spot to unwind, de-stress and stick your toes in the sand! Wayne was excellent in his communication and recommendations leading up to and during our stay! We definitely hope to return!

Perfect

We are two couples with four teenagers. We couldn’t have found a more perfect place to stay. The house was spacious and clean. The pictures do not do it justice. The beds were comfortable and the backyard with heated pool and trees ,the perfect oasis. We spent many enjoyable hours there. The children loved the short wooded bike path into the plaza and frequently found reasons to go :shopping, icecream , oysters. The beach was just a short easy walk 2-3 minutes. We caught several spectacular sunrises with dolphins . I would highly recommend this house and hope to come back some day.

Great place!

We enjoyed a wonderful vacation in this home! It is just steps to the beach and we walked back and forth. It was so close we didn't have to carry a lot to the beach. The owners were so nice and easy to work with! Very quick to get back to us. We also loved the one story home and all the space it provided. Nice decor,clean and up to date. The kids loved the pool! But I think the adults loved the outside shower to get the sand off the kids before going in the house or pool! What a great idea! It was a great time and we appreciate them allowing us to stay in their home. We would highly recommend this rental.

Wonderful Home for a Family Vacation to Hilton Head

The location of this home was a huge plus - beach just steps away! Convenient for early morning walks on the beach to watch the sunrise. Close to Coligny Plaza for shops and dining. We had more than enough room for our family. Loved having four bedrooms. and the open space in living room and dining room. The kitchen had everything in it that we could ever need to prepare meals. The outdoor screened in porch and area around the pool was wonderful. Plenty of pool chairs. Wayne and Mary Jo were VERY responsive to any questions we had. Always got back to us in a timely manner before we booked, after we booked and while we were staying in their home. Loved having an owner to work with versus a management company. Enjoyed their home. You will not be disappointed if you stay at this home!

Mary Jo and Wayne are native Philadelphians who moved to Dublin, Ohio in 1981. They have been married for 54 years and have 4 sons and wonderful daughters-in-law who have given them 7 beautiful grandchildren. Wayne retired from the Navy with the rank of Commander after 22 years of service. Wayne teaches entrepreneurship, ethics and business management at Franklin University. Mary Jo has a very active list of volunteer activities that keep her busy.

Why they chose this property

We've been visiting Hilton Head since 1984 and have fallen in love with the island. Having grown up visiting the Jersey Shore, we've discovered Hilton Head offers many more amenities. Our home is nestled in a secluded residential area, ensuring our beaches are never overcrowded. Just a few steps away from the beach, our location is also conveniently close to shopping, restaurants, and grocery stores, all within walking distance.
The island boasts an unparalleled assortment of restaurants, bars, and entertainment venues, surpassing any we've encountered elsewhere. We're within an hour's drive of Savannah or Beaufort and only two hours from Charleston, all of which are charming southern cities offering a wealth of additional activities.
Cycling and hiking the numerous trails provide excellent exercise and afford views of stunning landscapes and wildlife.

What makes this property unique

Although a ranch house may not have the typical 'beachy' exterior, its interior can offer that vibe. The convenience of not having to lug suitcases and groceries up multiple flights of stairs is a significant advantage, particularly for seniors and families with young children. The yard offers a private retreat with an ideal balance of sunlight and shade throughout the day. At times, the comfort of a poolside chair can make the short journey to the beach seem quite the effort.
