About this space
Happy Valley Studio rests in a lovely rural neighborhood, near 2800 acres of Community Forestlands hiking trails. It's ~15 minutes (3.6 Mi) from the Ferry to the San Juan Islands and an easy 5 minutes from downtown Anacortes. We have been in operation since 2015 on a different platform, with over700 stellar reviews and are so happy to now also be on VRBO! What people love about our place: comfortable bed, the quiet space, private feel, the neighborhood, and our lovely gardens and pond.We look forward to hosting you!

Clean, cozy, roomy studio apartment with its own private balcony entry and skylights to keep it bright and cheery.

Fully equipped kitchenette, with a microwave and refrigerator (no stove.)

The space
The Studio is separate from our main residence, and it is roomy, at 375 sq. ft. Our setting is 2.5 acres of garden and woodlands. You will see wildlife if you watch carefully for it, including quail, eagles, hawks, blue heron, coyote, and rabbits. Since we are rural, on clear nights you may even see the stars through the skylight windows in your room, or moonlight. In the Springtime, the frogs sing in serenade from the pond!

The place was so adorable, in a great location, There were thoughtful amenities (granola bars, make-up wipes, waters in the fridge). From the minute we walked in we were in awe of how clean the space was. Additionally, there was beautiful lavender left on our bed as a favor to keep! Sandra and Craig, my fiancé is already making plans to come back! Thank you so much! We are both (me especially) so picky with where we stay! Your place blew us away."

Guest access:
You have access to the entire North half of the upstairs in what has long been known as "the barn." It is actually a two-story garage, workroom, and flower drying facility, and greenhouse, and was used for many years as part of the dried flower production and gift shop businesses of its former owners.

Other things to note
The property is accessed via a short one-lane gravel lane with turnouts. We all pull over with a smile and a wave, to allow others by! Your parking is located directly at the foot of the balcony stairs by the two white concrete posts.

The TV is a Smart (Internet TV) not cable - but you will have fast Wifi and can sign in to your Netflix or other accounts to watch on the TV.

Space was clean and plenty of room for myself, my husband and toddler son to sleep and spend time. The hosts thought of all the little details which made this little gem a great place to stay. We could tell how much effort they put into it and would live to stay here again the next time we’re in town. We also got to see quails on the road into the studio which was a very cute bonus!

It's quite a lovely place in so many ways. The room is secluded and private, and the grounds are incredible. The story of how the current owners are carrying on the vision of the prior owners is inspiring. I'd love to come back in warmer weather to see everything in its full green.

I grew up on a farm/ranch in Montana and retired a few years ago after working for many years in public service. My husband, Craig, grew up mostly in the Seattle area, and has worked in the automotive industry for many years - we moved to Anacortes from Vancouver, Washington, in 2008.
What a joy to live in Anacortes, and what an amazing experience it is to open our hearts and gardens to share with travelers!

The magic of this property is immediately evident when you drive up. It is nature - indescribably peaceful and beautiful year-round, thanks not only to our work but to that of the former owners and many others who helped over the years. Whether you're walking through the gardens, bird-watching, or sitting by the pond, you will feel the love and peace that is here, and word of warning, you may not want to leave!

What makes this property unique

The location is secluded and quiet, yet only a few minutes from downtown Anacortes. Close access also to all of the forest trails in Anacortes Community Forest Lands, so it makes an ideal location to base your exploration of Fidalgo Island, Deception Pass, and the San Juan Islands. We are new to this listing site, but have been in operation since 2016, and with over 600 reviews and a 4.97-star rating on another popular booking site - so, it is obvious how special Happy Valley Studio is.
