At 9,100’ elevation on 80 peaceful acres surrounded by aspen trees, it overlooks beautiful Skagway Reservoir (great trout fishing lake and excellent for canoeing or small boats) located 12 miles from Cripple Creek, and approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes from western Colorado Springs. It's the perfect place to veg out and relax, or it can be a great spot to come home to at the end of a long day of hiking and exploring!

Beautiful property overlooking Skagway Res. We are all fishers so being close to the Reservoir and Beaver Creek was wonderful. The host was extremely easy to work with and very responsive to questions. Only thing to consider is the road up to the house can be a little dicey after rains
The house was wonderful!! Our family group of 7 throughly enjoyed our stay there. Plenty of room to spread out, a well equipped kitchen, and a wrap around porch with an incredible view that was frequented by a charm of hummingbirds. While remote (a few miles outside of Victor) it wasn’t too far to visit Pike’s Peak, Colorado Springs, and Cripple Creek. Local trails and the Skagway reservoir were nearby if you didn’t want to drive. Our host was gracious and easy to contact — we’d definitely stay there again.

Such an amazing location with awe inspiring views. We were very fortunate to get to spend some quality time there. There are many, many fun things to do around the area but we were there mainly for relaxation. It was so nice to just soak in nature. It is very quiet, cozy, relaxing and peaceful. Beautiful home. It has everything you need for a home away from home. Couldn’t say enough nice things about it. LOVED IT!!!

Once again this is one of the most beautiful places around. The perfect place for the veterans to heal. Thank you so much for having everything ready to go for us. Looking forward to next year.
THE VIEW WAS AMAZING, THE HOUSE WAS VERY NICE, VERY ROOMY, ROAD TO THE HOUSE WAS A LITTLE STEEP, REALLY HARD TO GET USED TO THE ELEVATION BUT OVERALL GREAT STAY AND WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND STAYING HERE.

Hi John! I'm so glad that y'all had such a great time and that you enjoyed the view and the house. Y'all are welcome back anytime!
This is a beautiful property. It is remote, as advertised. It had everything that our family needed. The dirt road coming in, the driveway, is extremely steep… And when wet, may not be passable by all cars. We will definitely come stay again.

Thanks so much for your kind words, Ashley! We're so glad y'all enjoyed your stay.
Re: the driveway, yes, definitely a steep mountain driveway. We require 4WD during the winter, and definitely recommend it in the summer too, as the weather, if wet, can make it challenging.
Thanks again, and come back anytime!
We enjoyed staying at this house with several families over Labor Day weekend. The property has amazing views and Skaguay Reservoir is great to boat, fish, and SUP in!
Aspen Lakehouse was wonderful for my family get-together. The setting was beautiful with the nearby trout-filled lake and the aspen trees at their peak color while we were there. The cabin was spacious and well-equipped. Lots to do in the area including fishing, hiking, exploring the back roads, and visits to Victor and Cripple Creek. The host was very responsive. We had one minor maintenance issue while we were there, and it was taken care of very quickly after contacting the host. Aspen Lakehouse is highly recommended, and we look forward to staying there again in the future.
It was awesome. We stay at the Aspen House because it’s close to the reservoir and we teach wounded veterans the art of fly fishing. It’s a very healing sport that helps veterans in need.

Hi Jerry, we love hosting you and the group of vets! Y'all are always welcome.
Everything that was promised, was everything we asked for and more.. even had some snow which the kids loved, n we had a great time, but for anybody who wants to stay here, ahead of time, during October though the winter months, you need a 4 wheel dr, or all wheel drive. A front wheel drive will not make it with even a bit of snow up the steep hill to get to cabin. But everything she promised was there. I have nothing bad to say about about our family vacation. Thankyou n we'll being coming back again.
House was perfect for our family. There was plenty of room, house was very clean, and amazing views. Definitely need a 4x4 if visiting in the winter season.

Thanks so much for your kind words, and so glad that you and your family enjoyed your stay! Definitely agreed re: the 4x4 recommendation for winter! Great note. :)
Thank you so much for a wonderful stay. It was exactly what we wanted. It was a good drive to do all of our activities but well worth the drive.

About the host
Hosted by Carolyn Santa Maria
These homes mean the world to us; the scenery, the nature, the disconnection from the rest of the world is unmatched. We love being able to share that with you.
Why they chose this property
The stunning views of the mountains and the lake drew us in. Aspen Lakehouse has an incredible 3/4 wrap-around deck to be able to view the expansive scenery, and part of the scenery is a magnificent aspen forest, which the house is halfway nestled in, and it is so peaceful. While there are neighbors, they are not close enough to bother, and you get peace and quiet when you stay at our homes.
What makes this property unique
What sets Aspen Lakehouse apart is the rare combination of expansive space, natural beauty, and the ability to comfortably bring large groups together—without sacrificing privacy or connection. Set on private acreage surrounded by aspen groves, the property offers a true sense of escape, with sweeping views of Pikes Peak and Skagway Reservoir and direct access to the outdoors. Guests can walk to the reservoir for fishing and kayaking, explore nearby trails and scenic drives, or simply enjoy the quiet and openness that makes this setting so special.
The home itself is designed with gatherings in mind. Generous living spaces, multiple bedrooms, and a layout that allows guests to spread out while still coming together make it ideal for family reunions, group getaways, and special occasions. It’s a space that feels both spacious and welcoming—something that’s difficult to find in traditional mountain rentals.
For larger groups, Aspen Lakehouse can be paired with Upper Aspen Lakehouse just 150 yards away, creating a unique two-home experience that accommodates up to 18 guests. This flexibility allows everyone to stay close while still having their own space—perfect for multi-family trips or retreats.
It’s this balance of scale, setting, and thoughtful design that makes Aspen Lakehouse not just a place to stay, but a place to gather, reconnect, and return to year after year.
