About this property

SUMMER SPECIAL Vintage cottage w/ beautiful mountain views across Sebago Lake

Nestled in the Sebago Lake Region of Maine lies this tranquil and rustic oasis. After passing through a children's camp and following a long, rustic road through woods, you will emerge at the secluded cottage, high above the water, where distant mountain views open up across Sebago Lake. Enjoy breakfast on the screened porch or deck as sunrise catches the tops of maples, pines, and granite boulders at water's edge. To reach the water, you take the rocky path down to a waterside deck, for a swim off the rocks or to paddle along the wooded shoreline. Another choice is to take the 50 stairs down to the west-facing deck at water's edge. Youngsters who can swim will spend hours exploring the rocky shoreline. Folks who prefer taking in the views from the porch or decks will enjoy gorgeous sunsets. Much natural beauty and privacy in this simple, nicely renovated 125-year-old fishing cabin. Wooded and natural with no visible neighbors and some open space. Cottage sits high above the water with steep access down to rocky water's edge. South access has decks on the rocky shore with a short swim ladder, plus a protected area for kids swimming and kayak/canoe launch. Explore the vast lake in the provided kayak and canoe.

Charming cabin on Sebago

My husband and I stayed in this charming rustic cabin over July 4th week. We must have been the first people to stay here since we ran into a few inconveniences when we first arrived, which the property management company quickly resolved. The location was amazing, private, wooded area with views of Sebago lake. 3 comfortable bedrooms with fans in the window with 2 unique bathrooms ( unique because they both share a light switch and exhaust fan switch)one has a tub and the other a stand up shower. The clean, updated kitchen has all that you need to prepare a meal(except a dishwasher, that means you have to hand washed dishes). The living area has plenty of seats but no tv and vaulted ceilings with fans that keep the space cool (no a/c but we didn't need it with the fans). We spent most of our time on the screened in porch, eating, playing cards or just enjoying the view. The yard had an outside shower and a few areas with provided chairs. There was also a nice grill, where we did most of our cooking. There are 2 ways to get down to the lake both a bit of a hike, but we were able to get our kayaks down without too much trouble. Although no dock, both platforms have ladders down to the water for easy access. These area are perfect for watching the sunsets every night! We loved our time here and will definitely come back soon!

Wonderful week away in this fully functional cabin

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had a great stay in this spacious cabin with a lake and sunset view. The bedrooms are an expected size for a Maine cabin but the living room area is much bigger than I was expecting. The kitchen is fully functional and there’s plenty of room. The 2 paths to the water are steep and may be more difficult for elderly people. Both sites require ladder use to get into the water and you will have to traverse some rocks so we were glad we had water shoes! There’s no raft or dock to swim right off of but there’s a few huge rocks that we used to sit on and jump off of. If you don’t know the lake, Sebago is a HUGE lake. This is a busy, sometimes loud, area with lots of boaters and jet skiers and a sea plane flies over sometimes. We were fully expecting this but just know this is not a small boat-less calm lake. It gets windy and choppy. We had a great time! We lounged in floatie tubes and sunned on the rocks. Staying inside the house was calm and relaxing. There are fans everywhere and we were very comfortable. The house is located near a children’s camp. You have to drive thru the camp to get in and out. After hours there’s a gate up that says no trespassing but it swings open easily.
