Welcome to Haywood Farm House, an 1880s home lovingly restored home where you will find wide plank pine floors, rustic ceiling beams and painted wainscoting among 1800 square feet nestled on 3 quiet wood filled acres.
This is the perfect vacation home for families looking to get out of the city for farmhouse living, Hudson Valley sightseeing and splashing in the swimming pool!
After you exit off the 87 Thruway (just 90 minutes from NYC!), you’ll drive 7 minutes through apple orchards and horse farms before arriving at our front door. The flagstone steps will lead you to one of the best features of the house: the long classic front porch complete with rocking chairs which makes the perfect setting for a glass of lemonade or morning coffee while you admire the views.
Step into the house and back in time onto the original wood plank floors throughout recently restored to their former glory and the original ceiling beams featured on the ground floor. The owners selected a neutral color palette throughout the home so that the rustic features of the house and the natural beauty of the surrounding land would stand out. In most rooms you will find fresh cut flowers and greenery selected for your arrival!
The large eat in kitchen with original farmhouse ceiling beams, farmhouse sink, soapstone countertops, schoolhouse style light fixtures and a custom built reclaimed pine wood kitchen island (with vintage 1930s factory stools) will inspire you to bake a pie with some local fruit. The kitchen was renovated in 2021 with an exposed brick wall and custom black walnut floating open shelving. The kitchen is fully equipped and includes a pancake griddle, waffle maker, crockpot, Kitchenaid mixer, Cuisinart food processer, coffee maker, French press and Nepresso machine. A top of the line Samsung double oven range complete with five top burners, including one quick boil burner, stove top griddle as well as an Air Fry feature in the oven. The kitchen also features a gallery of original photographs of the home and property from the 1920s when it was a working farm.
Just off the kitchen is the sunroom dining gallery with its beautiful views and skylights. You’ll want to dine with friends at the custom made 10 foot oak dining table locally crafted from reclaimed oak wood. The table seats 8 in oversized Windsor chairs. The dining area also features a separate sitting area with club chairs.
The gracious living room has a beautiful fireplace and oversized flanking couches around a custom barn door coffee table. You will also find a cozy wingback reading chair nook and a 50 inch flat screen television with Spectrum cable, Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu and HBOMax. There is strong wireless internet throughout the home and on the rear deck.

Just off the living room is the primary suite with a wood vaulted ceiling and wrap around wood paneling below the windows. There is queen size farmhouse bed, mid century style brass globe lights, industrial iron side tables, an antique desk with views of the outdoors and a photo gallery of West Point football players from the 1930s. The primary suite also features five antique carriage doors shipped in from a Chicago estate. The primary bathroom has a beautiful 66 inch pedestal bathtub and a 50 inch long vessel sink locally crafted in the Hudson Valley from Vermont Danby marble sitting on 1930s style stainless steel laboratory vanity and black and white marble flooring.

Upstairs you will find custom Shaker style doors with porcelain doorknobs.

The guest room has a romantic iron bed guest room with cathedral ceilings and a skylight encased with a beautiful modern toile wallpaper of tree groves. The guest room also features a painted dresser and a vintage chaise lounge.

Across the hall is the third bedroom enveloped in plaid Swedish wallpaper (not yet pictured). The room features a skylight, mid century furnishings and an oversized vintage Italian Agatha Christie movie poster. There's a collection of vintage board games (plus Scrabble, Taboo!, Monopoly, Yaztee and Trivial Pursuit), a stainless mini fridge and a Nespresso coffee machine.
A newly renovated bathroom sits between the upstairs bedrooms featuring an antique dresser and a 19th century oil painting. You will find a vintage style pedestal sink, a Kohler soaker tub and a vintage bullet light medicine cabinet. A full washer and dryer are on the premises.

There are also 4 Sonos speakers throughout the house. You can download the app from Sonos.com and stream music!

Just off of the dining room/sun room is a two tier wooden deck with a Frontgate dining table seating 8 with a 9 foot market umbrella. The upper deck tier has a Frontgate sofa and club chair with black and white resort stripe cushions.

The 18 x 34 in ground heated swimming pool has been recently completely renovated in 2019 for our guests (OPEN MEMORIAL DAY THROUGH OCTOBER 1st; separate pool cleaning fee during this period; cleaning once per week required) The renovation features a new gray pebble pool liner, new bluestone pool coping and 18 foot wide steps on the north side of the pool-perfect for lounging with cocktails. New for 2021 our lovely pool is now heated!!!
In addition we have replaced the pool decking with beautiful bluestone and incorporated stone walls, tall grasses, border gardens and a hydrangea garden! The pool deck features four chic luxurious teak loungers with striped market umbrellas, a custom made cedar dining table with benches and planter benches framed with evergreens. There are also beach balls, pool floats, a water volley ball set and beach towels for your use as well as a Weber charcoal grill with charcoal chimney and barbecue tools (and complimentary charcoal provided). A heated pump was added to the pool in 2021!

The grounds are beautifully landscaped and feature lush plantings, greenery, trees and flowers where bird and deer sightings are in full force. (lots of red cardinals this year and butterflies in the butterfly bushes). The poolside garden features a grove of peonies which are a vibrant pink in June!

In 2016 the owners installed an impressive meditation garden tucked in the woods featuring natural big boulders and a variety of plants such as hostas, ferns, cleome, daisies, sedum, astilbe, beauty berry, ornamental grasses, goldenrods, andromeda, begonias as well as Aspen trees, Thuga trees, a Cherry tree, a dogwood tree and a Japanese Maple. Always a cool spot on a hot summer day!

On the overlook above the meditation garden is a secret garden which was created in 2018. In the secret garden, you can relax in the handmade Adirondack style two seater swing!

On the upper lawn, you can sit in four handmade Adirondack chairs with footstools constructed from original wood of the house reclaimed during renovations while being completely surrounded by the woods. Five new pine trees were planted in 2020 and 2021. In 2022, we planted two October glory maple trees and two Norway spruces. In 2024, 3 news October glory maple trees were added.

You will find restaurants, grocery stores and other services 7 minutes away in New Paltz and 5 minutes away in Rosendale. The location of the property makes it ideal for a weeklong family vacation with an easy commute for any family members working in NYC as a Trailsways bus stop is close by (and the bus makes the trip in 90 minutes with no stops!).

All rentals are for the entirety of the house, swimming pool and grounds and include utilities. Haywood Farmhouse is the quintessential 'farm house in the country' experience. As the owners say "It's definitely a home where you kick off your shoes for a week, open the windows and enjoy the fresh country air. We are so delighted our guests have found the farmhouse to be the treasure that it is!

Hudson Valley Farmhouse For The Family!

Our family of four (including a 6-yr old and 8-yr old) thoroughly enjoyed our week at the farmhouse! The house was beautifully decorated with thoughtful renovations (including the primary bedroom and downstairs bathroom). We also enjoyed the little details around the house that added to the ambiance - antique furniture, vintage photographs and board games. Every room has a specific function and feel! The real showstopper is the backyard with an amazing heated pool. We spent most of the week in the pool and it did not disappoint. The photos do not do the manicured landscape d lawn any justice. The gardens, plants, flowers are overwhelmingly beautiful. No expense was sparred on this property. Sean was a present and communicative host. We appreciated how proactive he was in ensuring we had a wonderful visit (he scheduled a call a few days before the trip, checked in periodically during the trip, and even called to let us know a storm was coming). We look forward to a future stay at the farmhouse.

A Gem

A beautiful property. Well appointed. Great communication. The owner was flexible, thoughtful and easy to work with. We had two families with kids sharing the house for a few days over the July 4th weekend. We spent most of the days splashing around in their beautiful in-ground pool, which was a must for our group due to the heat and the kiddos love of swimming. It was great that we could put the kids to bed upstairs and then have the adults hang out downstairs laughing and making noise without disturbing their sleep. The Master bedroom is really lovely. I slept like a rock. If you care about design and details, then you will appreciate this property. This rental delivered exactly what we were looking for: comfort, privacy, charm and a "good hang." We barely left the house so I'm not sure about the surrounding area. I will probably rent this place again in the future. Thanks a million.

Practically perfect in every way

The house is immaculate, filled with historical charm and beautiful detail in everywhere you turn. The backyard and pool were made us feel like we were at our own private resort. Sean’s communication before and during our stay made our trip seamless. We loved our stay so much we cannot wait to book again soon.

Great stay at a beautiful house

We had the best weekend here! The house was clean and decorated so beautifully. It had everything you could need. We had coffee every morning on the porch and hung out every afternoon in the sprawling yard. We will be back.

A charming country retreat!

Haywood Farmhouse is the perfect setting for a long weekend in the Hudson Valley! While it is in a quiet and peaceful location, this charming house was convenient to restaurants and attractions of the area. Beautifully renovated and restored with lovely gardens, this house is ready for the likes of the glossy magazines. However, this home evokes a warm and easy going style. We loved the manner in which antique elements were used in unique and creative ways, particularly the use of unusual old doors. Haywood House was comfortable throughout - sun porch during the day, cosy living room, with a snug gas fireplace, in the evening! We look forward to return trips to Haywood Farmhouse!

Great vacation and host!

This place is beautiful! We had so much fun exploring the area and playing by the pool and in the lovely gardens. Sean is great host-- giving us all sorts of day trip tips and making sure everything was set for our arrival. Don't miss going to Brooklyn Cider house for weekend wood fire pizza in an amazing setting. What a fantastic house and setting!

Fab Country Home, Fab Vacation!

The Haywood Farmhouse is a meticulously renovated and decorated older country home located in a bucolic setting close to NYC in the Hudson Valley. The restoration undertaken here is an obvious labor of love, and the owners have quite successfully maintained the intimate and authentic feel of the original century plus old house while adding up to date modern amenities such as the new master bath and bedroom expansion. The decoration also pays homage to the period feel of the house, with great attention to detail paid to the furnishings which are a mix of modern and antique and are exceptionally complimentary to the overall ambience. All of this adds up to a supremely inviting and aesthetically pleasing home which is perfect for relaxing and decompressing from the stresses of city life. Equally engaging are the beautifully landscaped grounds and pool which allow for an easy connection to nature as well as the option for recreational play and exercise. My family and I spent nine days and nights here and had an absolutely terrific time, venturing out occasionally to the farm stands and scenic drives near by, but mostly lying low and relaxing in the sun room and the deck or swimming in the solar heated pool (which, by the way, saved us hundreds of dollars in the heating fuel costs we've incurred at pools without solar heating in other houses we've rented). In addition, the owner was extremely communicative and responsive to our questions and concerns, and added welcoming touches such as fresh flowers and bottled water next to the beds. If you are choosing to rent a classic country home for your Hudson Valley getaway, the Haywood Farmhouse should be at the top of your list. I can give it my highest recommendation!

A lovely home, great stay

This is a lovely home, with a tasteful mix of contemporary/modern and antique country with vintage pop culture splashes (great vintage board games!). It is an older home, but the master suite was completely redone and there is a beautiful master bath with a large tub/shower. The pool is an in ground pool and there is nice deck with lounge chairs and umbrellas as well as a weber charcoal grill. My daughters fear of bugs (city kids!) was overcome by her joy of the pool. Our girls swam pretty much all day. We also found nice farmers store for some great fresh produce and we had a great bbq. It's a big plus that the home is so close to NYC.

Wonderful stay at a fantastic home

My family and I just came home from 6 nights in the Hudson Valley and had a wonderful time. From the time we arrived until the time we left, everything was amazing. The house was extremely comfortable and the owner was very attentive to make sure we had everything we needed. The home is on a beautiful setting and the grounds/pool made for a very relaxing vacation. We took advantage of the quaint towns of New Paltz, Kingston and Rhinebeck, and enjoyed a nice hike at Minnewaska State Park. There are some great farm stands, shopping and good food all around. Simply put, this place was exactly what we were looking for and exceeded our expectations. If you are looking for a farmhouse with character and all modern amenities to relax and enjoy the beautiful Hudson Valley, then this is the place for you ... especially if you are looking for a getaway from NYC (it's only 90 miles away from the city).
