Welcome to "Your Capitol Hill Homestead"!
The Homestead is perfect for out-of-town family visits, sightseeing, or a space for those temporarily working in the city. The home has lots of light, spacious rooms, and comfort not found in many stays. Some amenities include a gourmet equipped kitchen, a fenced-in backyard, and permit-free parking. Located near restaurants, shops, public transportation, and parks. We are tucked in the center of a quiet block in the Historic Capitol Hill neighborhood.

The Property:
This house is a two-bedroom and 2.5-bath home with an open floor plan on the main level. You enter the home from the street up 9 stairs to the front porch and main level. The main level has an entryway, dining room, living room, kitchen, and half bath. With the two bedrooms and two full bathrooms upstairs, and an air mattress available, 11 stairs up. Outside is a backyard and porch, 5 stairs down to the yard.

While there are a ton of amazing dining options within walking distance if you prefer to do it yourself, walk to the nearby Eastern Market farmer's market on Saturdays and Sundays. Groceries nearby are Safeway, Trader Joe's, and Yes! Organic Market to make use of the fully stocked kitchen. The kitchen includes a full-size refrigerator, toaster, microwave, Keurig coffee maker, dishwasher, in-sink garbage disposal, oven, and 5-burner range. Kitchenware includes pots, pans, silverware, plates, cups, and glassware. As well as, other household appliances such as a crockpot, air fryer, waffle maker, and blender.

Please note: While this house has gone through extensive renovations, our home was built in 1910. Some characteristics are authentic to the home and hold the charm of living in an older space.

Guest Access:
Permit-free street parking is plentiful in front of the apartment on the right side of the street. For long-term guests, neighborhood-zoned guest parking passes are available. Most guests who drive here park their car and forget about it for the duration of their stay as the area is accessible via walking, bike share, ride share, or public transportation. Generally, these are more convenient and worry-free ways to get around town. We are just 4 blocks from the Stadium-Armory metro station. And within a 20-minute walk to the Potomac Metro Station, the Eastern Market Metro Station, and Union Station. Within a 1.5-mile walk, you can also reach Marine Barracks/Barracks Row, US Capitol, Supreme Court, Library of Congress, Lincoln Park, H Street Corridor, and many great dining and grocery locations. Also, our home is along the blue metro line with access to Reagan National Airport and the silver metro line with access to Dulles International Airport. There are capital bike-share racks on both ends of our block. As well as easy bus access to multiple bus lines.

Fantastic Stay in DC
Grace's place is beautiful, in a quiet neighborhood, and is wonderfully appointed for any length of stay. There was plenty of space for my wife and I, my two young children, and my in-laws. Not only was the row house capacious within, it was impeccably clean and updated. The nearest metro station is Stadium Armory (short walk) and that will get you to all the major touristy sites in 15-20 minutes. Parking on the street near the house was a breeze. I would definitely rent this place again!

Great spot for DC visit
I stayed here with my sister and my Dad. We visited the Smithsonian museums which were only a short Uber ride away. We did so much walking and this house was a perfect place to rest. We enjoyed sitting on the deck to eat and watching a movie in the comfortable living room. The house has everything you need and is very cozy and clean. All the furniture is comfortable and the art work is beautiful. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay again.

Perfect for our family of four
We're so happy we chose this house for our DC vacation. It was absolutely perfect. Beautiful house, spacious, lots of thoughtful touches by the owners, lots of conveniences included. The beds were super comfortable. The neighborhood was gorgeous, and felt safe. It was a quick walk to a train stop, and a quick train ride to the monuments and museums. And clearly a dog-friendly house! I wish we would have been able to bring our dog, she would've been so happy there! We've stayed in places that claimed to be dog-friendly, but had so many restrictions, we couldn't really relax. But these homeowners clearly love dogs, and it would have been so easy to have our dog with us. We would absolutely stay at this house again.

Capital Delight
We enjoyed our stay Capital Hill House. The kitchen was the best stocked kitchen we have ever encountered in a VRBO. Grocery stores within walking distance. We walked to the Tidal Basin and back. Not sure I recommend that but we did it. The metro is close by. Comfortable beds and couches. Beautiful home! Highly recommend!

I am an assistant and designer by trade and a graduate of The University of Kentucky and The University of Nebraska. Some of my loves are F1 racing, cooking, charcuterie, craft beer, spending time with my golden retriever Bleu, and cycling. I also enjoy discovering new places and experiencing different cultures. While traveling, I enjoy practicing new languages, eating and drinking local fare, and making friends along the way. I work as a virtual assistant and theatrical scenic designer. I have enjoyed staying in VRBO rentals all over the world, and am excited to host too! I work from home and live in the attached basement unit apartment below with my partner, Casey, and our puppy, Bleu. I am generally always accessible to guests for any needs within a few minutes. Welcome to DC!
