Other things to note. So much to do with nearby adventures in Robbinsville and Bryson City such as amazing hikes to see incredible waterfalls, white water rafting or ziplining at the Nantahala Outdoor Center, kayaking and swimming at nearby lakes Santeetlah and Fontana, riding the Great Smoky Mountain Railroad and more.
NOTE: The driveway is 3/4 asphalt. It starts with 1/4 of the driveway as packed gravel.
This cabin is perfectly situated in the Nantahala National Forest within driving distance to many popular attractions:

Town of Robbinsville - approximately 7 minutes away with grocery store, Walgreens, restaurants, gas stations, etc.

Lake Santeetlah - approximately 15 minutes away to enjoy swimming, boating, kayaking, and more on pristine mountain lake.

Historic Tapoco Tavern and Lodge - approximately 20 minutes away. Enjoy a nice lunch or dinner on the beautiful patio overlooking the Cheoah River, known for great white water rafting.

Yellow Creek Falls - approximately 15 minutes away to enjoy hiking the trails along the creek to beautiful waterfalls.

Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest - approximately 10 minutes away. Hike through one of the largest old growth forests in the Eastern U.S.

Hop on the Cherohala Skyway in Robbinsville to enjoy beautiful scenic mountain views and be sure to stop at Huckleberry Knob for a hike to 360 degree views of the Smoky Mountains.

Fontana Dam - approximately 25 minutes away. Walk across the tallest dam in the Eastern U.S.

Hop on the Appalachian Trail at Stechoah Gap - approximately 10 minutes away.

Bryson City - approximately 30 minute scenic drive to enjoy shopping, dining and taking a ride through the Nantahala Gorge on the Great Smoky Mountain Railroad (be sure to plan in advance).

Nantahala Outdoor Center - approximately 25 minutes away. Spend the day white water rafting, kayaking and zip lining through the Nantahala. Also enjoy the riverside bar and restaurant.

Take a drive and hike through then Great Smoky Mountains National Park, the most visited National Park in the country.

We rent cabins all over. This was one of the best. From the location to the decor everything was on point. We bring motorcycles up each year to ride the excellent roads and enjoy the beautiful scenery. One of my musts is a garage and this place had sufficient space for 3 bikes, could fit more but well suited for 3 as long as you move the ping pong table which the owners approved of. The only downside to this place is upon your abilities. The place is secluded and for that to happen you must climb a mountain to get to it. 95% of the drive is paved, the roads are narrow and there is no real turn around for a 16’ trailer loaded down. We had to leave the trailer at the top of the mountain and unload the bikes there. I made it work. But if you are skilled you will figure it out. The place was well stocked, super quiet, and a true cabin feel. I would definitely recommend this place to others. Wish we could have stayed longer. Keep up the great hosting Kim you’re doing great!

My son and I had a wonderful stay, the house and amenities were exceptional. Communication and availability with the owner was excellent. I highly recommend this property and would definitely stay here again in the future.

Great place

Great place to stay close to many motorcycle destinations. The drive to the cabin is steep, but we had no issues even in the rain.

This cabin made for a perfect stay during a motorcycle trip to visit the Tail of the Dragon, surrounding routes, and the Smokey Mountains! I had a few questions prior to my arrival, and the hosts were very quick to reply to those questions - adding strongly to peace of mind when booking.This three bed cabin was packed with conveniences for anyone visiting the area - from the hot tub on the back porch after a day of riding and hiking, to the dual zone air conditioning so everyone can sleep comfortably, to the choices of Dish satellite or streaming services for entertainment - this cabin in the woods has it all. There’s ample room to tuck a trailer in along with a towing vehicle at the cabin’s doorstep, and still have room to spare. The cabin offers a grill for convenience, along with an well appointed kitchen for meals in. The hosts even offer Keurig Pods and creamers in case you’re not able to make a grocery run on arrival. Speaking of groceries - there’s an Ingles grocery at the main intersection in town and a loyalty card in the cutlery drawer so that you get the discounted prices during checkout. One of the best features I enjoyed at this cabin is that once you arrive - there’s not a newborn in sight after you turn onto the private drive to the cabin. Had a great experience, and will be booking this same cabin on my next trip! I highly recommend this cabin and these hosts to anyone in the market.

Beautiful home in a great location! Very quiet at night, stars were great. Home is furnished with everything we needed. Will definitely keep the Cabin in mind on our next visit.

Beautiful cabin, perfect for our trip

This cabin is so nice! I loved the fenced in back yard for being able to let the dog run outside. The kitchen was very well furnished. We were hiking and spending a lot of time headed to the trails. It was in a great location for us. Robbinsville is pretty close if you need a grocery run. The hosts were great and very responsive. I would definitely stay here again. The driveway is kind of narrow and winding (it is in the mountains, after all), but well marked. We drove our full size truck. Parking was fine for one vehicle, but might be tight for more than one. Check in and check out were easy. This is one of the nicest cabins I've stayed in. Super clean, cute and comfy.

A whole-hearted recommendation for this property! My must-haves in a mountain cabin were met and then some. The view is amazing with different areas around the house to enjoy. We enjoyed the very clean hot-tub at night, played games on the deck cooled off by the ceiling fans, and played ping-pong in the adjacent gameroom. It is very secluded and quiet. It is situated close enough for day trips to Fontana dam and Village, quaint Bryson City (and the cool train ride), The Dragon Trail, and Cherokee where you will find Harrah's. You can also reach the Smokey Mountains and great hiking but it was a little too hot for that when we were there. The hosts are very nice and available by text while staying hand-off so you can enjoy each moment. It was EXTREMELY clean as well. We hope to book this site again in the future.

We have always dreamed of having a mountain cabin with beautiful views and peaceful surroundings. We found the PERFECT one in Smokey Top Retreat. We purchased the cabin at the end of September 2023 which is why we are new to VRBO. You won't be sorry if you choose this as your next getaway.
