House was great for our group. Great location to everything! Wish the listing would have specified there are no interior stairs to access upper level, More kitchen items would have been helpful also.
While Beacon House was spacious enough for our large group and the proximity to the beach was good; unfortunately, the property did not meet our expectations due to safety, health/cleanliness, and maintenance issues. These deficiencies are based on the following:-front door to Beacon House and a first floor bedroom door severely jammed/had to be forced to open (safety hazard in case of an emergency)-several bathrooms had mold (health hazard)-strong fresh paint smell (health hazard)-shower curtains on most of 2nd floor bedrooms mildewed/needs replacing (health hazard)-2nd floor hallway bathroom was clogged upon our arrival/reported to Carolina Realty immediately/repair service never came during our entire stay-outdoor trash bin was not adequate for the large unit/2 cottages adjacent used for trash as well-lack of adequate lighting on outside stairway leading from downstairs main floor to upstairs bedrooms (safety issue)-small insects seen in bedrooms and bathrooms/unit needs fumigating (health hazard)-Fire extinguisher in kitchen area appears to be outdated/owner should check expiration (safety issue)Additional comments:-need to provide written instructions for kitchen oven. Many guests may not be familiar with the European model-should be refunded due to all of these failed expectations.
Lovey stay! The house was just as pictured, we ran into a problem with the AC and the management team was quick to respond.

Thank you for your review, Grace. We're glad to hear you had a lovely stay and found the house as pictured. We appreciate your feedback about the AC and are pleased our team was able to respond promptly. We hope to welcome you back soon!
This home provides a close stay with plenty of room for a full house of guests. The communication between the management and myself was fantastic! They provided all of the information and updates needed throughout the stay. It's a wonderful home! Definitely would recommend.Make sure to bring extra pillows, blankets, and soap as they do not provide these.

Thank you, Sarah! We're glad to hear you found the home spacious and enjoyed the communication with our team. Your recommendation means a lot to us. We appreciate the tip about bringing extra items and hope to welcome you back soon!
This was the worst vacation house I have stayed at in the last 10 years.- Upon arriving at 4pm (check-in time). Non English speaking cleaners were still "cleaning". - While waiting to check-in, All garbage bins outside were completely overflowing with garbage already on the ground. This was Saturday afternoon, trash pick up is Monday, but that needs to be resolved so it's at least usable and not disgusting.- Finally get in the house at 430pm, not a huge deal. - Take off our shoes and walk around bare foot for 20-30 minutes, feet pure black.- Roaches. We live in NC. Palmetto bugs don't scare us. But every night, same time (9ish) we saw dozens of them coming out of the walls and the floor vents. That's not just living in the south. Thats an infestation.- Phone support is outsourced with non English speaking people that read from a script.- No follow up as promised from local management.- Door lock broken before our arrival. Strike plate held in with one loose screw. Clearly jerry rigged to fit. We had to remove it so we could leave the house. - Pots and pans were filthy greasy.- NO INSIDE STAIRS TO UPSTAIRS. To get up stairs, you need to exit the house, lock the door, walk up the outside stairs, and unlock that door. Upstairs has AC units in each room, no central hvac second level- Easy walk to the beach though. Will never stay at one of these properties again. - Stay at your own risk. They suck.

Liked: Check-in, communication, location
Disliked: Cleanliness, listing accuracy
The home was disgustingly dirty. The rug that you see in this picture is filthy. When we moved the furniture to vacum, it was obvious that it had not been cleaned in years. There were dead roaches all over the house, and one live one that we killed the last night we were there. There was mold in some of the rooms. The kitchen was not adequately stocked. My family uses VRBO to book a Thanksgiving vacation every year. This was the worst place we have stayed in during the last 15 years of doing these trips. We noticed that the house was for sale. The best thing that can happen is for someone to buy it, level it, and start over. I hate writing bad reviews, so I will end with a couple of positives. The appliances were new and functioned well. The water pressure was good, and the water was hot. We had a plumbing issue, and it was handled promptly. Overall, this was the worst home we have ever rented.
Plenty of room to have more than one family to enjoy although a few things need to be addressed. About half the beds didn't sleep well, nails sticking through the steps going upstairs, handrail knobs are rotten and fall off. There's a couple holes in the back deck and sketchy stairs leading to upstairs rooms. Other than that, great location, house was clean just needs updates. Only 3 parking spots for 9 bedrooms and they are tight. Wouldn't stay here again but we will use carolina beach realty again. They are a great company and i didn't report any issues to them this time but they have always been responsive to any issues before. In other words, good place for some but not us, we had 3 people with us that used wheelchairs or crutches and the porches and steps were not in great shape for them to pull up.
