Voiced that I had some safety concerns and did not want to stay but they indicated we would be leaving early and had to pay our full 1400 even though we called 15-30 minutes after checking in! Floors were uneven and the only bathroom was basically in the kitchen and not even close to the bedrooms. My 91 year old mom had to walk across the room through the kitchen to use the bathroom at night. I slept in a set of bunk beds the first night that is built for children - I found out the first night because I’m 5’2”!and my feet hung over the edge of the bed. This property is not as advertised and certainly not worth more than 125-200 per night! Never would recommend it to anyone.

Fun Property close to great activities

This property was super fun with lots of LOTR references. It was very close to Custer and Custer State Park and great to serve as a base. Facility was clean and sauna view was top notch. A warning - if you are over 6’-4”, note there is a fair amount of headbangers in the location and shower/door thresholds are low.

Thank you for your thoughtful review, Bo! We’re so glad you enjoyed the unique LOTR touches and found the location perfect for exploring Custer and the state park. It’s great to hear the sauna view stood out, too. It really is something special. Thanks for the heads-up about the low-clearance areas. We appreciate the note for future guests. We’d love to welcome you back for another fun and relaxing stay!

Cozy

We came up for Spring Break and it had just snowed. The cabin had a snow shovel for us to use. The cabin was perfect for me and my daughters. Very cozy, wish we could have stayed longer. Due to the time of year it felt like we had the Black Hills all to ourselves. We did manage to lock ourselves out one evening, but the local sheriff arrived to make sure we were warm while waiting for someone to come unlock the door. We will be back!

What a special Spring Break trip with your daughters! We’re delighted the cabin felt cozy and just right for your stay, especially with fresh snow adding to the Black Hills scenery. We’re glad the shovel was useful and that help arrived quickly when you were locked out. We’d be happy to welcome you back for a longer visit next time!

Clean property. Close to Custer for convenience of groceries and restaurants. Close to Custer State Park, Mt Rushmore and Crazy Horse. Bungalow was very small. Pictures I fell were taken from angles that did not portray just how small it was. The air did not work. At first it did not blow any air, we contacted the host and they had quick response and sent maintenance out. They were not sure what the problem was and we were leaving for the day. When we returned in the evening air was blowing but it was not reaching the set temperature. There was already a portable unit that was vented through a wall so I am curious if this was a known problem previously. The wifi was almost non existent at times. TV streaming would buffer frequently and it would take a long time for web pages to open on our devices.Beds were comfortable and kitchen was furnished.Pretty views of Needle Spires but further distance than the photos portray. Again, very responsive host and clean bungalow. Just not what we expected.

Smaller than pictures advertised. No internet a lot of the time. The sauna also did not work a lot of the time. The setting was nice

Thank you for the feedback, Brad. We’re happy you enjoyed the peaceful setting, though we’re sorry some parts of the stay fell short. Our cabin’s rural location can affect Wi-Fi at times, but we have upgraded to fiber optic cable and added signal amplifiers to improve connectivity. We also checked the sauna after your stay and found it to be in proper working condition. We appreciate you staying with us.
