Good afternoon Mary and thank you for your sentiment.
Mary was refunded 100% of the amount VRBO charged her for her booking. As explained, at no point did I receive any funds from her nor was I charged the cancellation fee for being unable to honor her reservation. Unfortunately, her situation is very common on VRBO and I implore all reading to utilize other platforms such as FurnishedFinder, AIRBNB, etc.
This is the 2nd time VRBO auto booked my unit without notification, despite the auto booking setting being disabled. I apologized to Ms. Mary as I unfortunately could not host her. I then spent hours in what is the grueling process to reach VRBO support and ask them to remedy their error in sending her back the funds VRBO* collected and kept, in which they did. The last guest I had this happen to was extremely understanding in the situation as both the host and guest are victims in this scenario. All in all- all listings can be found on other platforms for the same price, please avoid VRBO if possible.
