The Area:
The chalet is perfectly situated under the pines, in the heart of Wilmington. You’ll be within walking, biking or driving distance to the area’s most exciting attractions. Be sure to check out:

Whiteface Mountain: Located just minutes away, Whiteface offers year-round adventures. In winter, it's a skier's paradise, while summer/fall visitors can hike to the summit for panoramic views, take a gondola ride or cruise the gorgeous Veterans’ Memorial Highway (through Oct. 9).

Lake Placid: A short drive away, Lake Placid is famous for hosting the Winter Olympics in 1932 and 1980. Explore the Olympic Museum, paddle on the pristine Mirror Lake, wander the quaint Main Street and explore locally owned shops and restaurants. The town also has grocery and convenience stores for any needs that arise.

Hiking and Biking: The Adirondacks boast numerous trails for all skill levels. Which High Peak will you hike first? Or maybe you’re aiming to complete all 46 and become a “46er.” Don't miss the breathtaking High Falls Gorge for a picturesque hike.

Wilmington Flume Trails: The Flume Trail System is comprised of approximately ten miles of trails open to mountain biking, hiking, cross country skiing, and snowshoeing. The trails can be accessed via the Flume Trailhead, located approximately 2 miles south of the village center on Route 86, or the Bear Den Trailhead at Whiteface Mountain.

Wilmington Town Beach: Enjoy swimming, picnicking, and kayaking at the nearby town beach on Lake Everest.

Ausable River: If you enjoy fly fishing (trout!), it doesn’t get much better than this world-famous river. There is hand access at points along Route 86.

Wine Tasting: Visit Adirondack wineries, breweries & distilleries for a tasting or pick up a bottle of your favorite red or white wine, spirit or ale.

Fall Foliage: Witness the stunning fall foliage, a must-see during autumn in the Adirondacks.

Kid-Friendly: Attractions like Santa’s Workshop at the North Pole, the Adirondack Wildlife Refuge, Lake Placid Sleigh Rides, Boots & Birdies Miniature Golf and the John Brown Farm State Historic Site are must-do’s with kids.

The drive on Route 86 is superbly scenic so the ride is practically a destination in and of itself.

There is also a restaurant called Up A Creek right next door. (Seasonal - not open during November or April.)

We are excited to welcome you to Chalet 86 and are dedicated to making your stay warm, welcoming and wonderful. If you need help with anything during your stay, we are on call for questions or assistance.

Perfect location for snowboarders and skiers!
Loved this little house/cabin. Extremely convenient to Whiteface, just minutes away. I would drop boys to snowboard and then I would take a 2 mile hike at Flume trailhead on my way back to cabin. They could snowboard as long or as little as they liked. A quick drive to Lake Placid for more fun at skating rink. Both boys (13 and 18) had a blast. I had everything I needed to make homemade meals and close enough to everything to eat out if we wanted. It was quiet, clean and decorated tastefully without too much of the kitschy “rustic” theme. Thank you Jessica!
