About this property
Rustic Catskills Cabin, on 3 acres, between Woodstock & Phoenicia
This Quintessential Catskills Cabin, built in the 1930s as a gentleman's hunting lodge, on 3 acres, is the perfect blend of old and new.
Lots of original wood detail & character, but with updated clean kitchen and baths. Excellent cell phone reception, cable tv and wifi. All of the modern amenities at your fingertips, including brand new washer/dryer.
Pet owners will be happy to have a fenced in part of the yard off the back deck.
Forget your worries and escape to nature. Disconnect and swing in our hammock beneath the birch trees. Make a bonfire in the stone firepit. Drink a cup of coffee on the screened in back porch and likely see local wildlife traipsing through the woods . Lay out in one of the chaise lounges and observe humming birds feeding from our wild flower garden.
When you're ready to join the world again - the towns of Woodstock & Phoenicia are nearby. We are perfectly situated between the two --- so you get the best of both worlds. 10 miles to the east, along Wittenberg Road (one of the Catskills' most beautiful roads) is the artists' commune of Woodstock - known for its galleries, theatres, artisan shops, restaurants and famous artist residents. Then, 5 miles to the west, you get the country feel of Phoenicia, under the shadow of Mt Tremper, known for its famous breakfast spot w a cult following “Phoenicia Diner.” Woodstock Brewing , Foxfire Mountain House are 5 mins away on Rt 28 and Harana market - recently written up in the NY Times - only 5 min drive along Wittenberg Rd. Catskill Pines is even closer. Boiceville IGA Supermarket is 1 mile away and so is the original location /
newly redone Bread Alone.
There are a multitude of activities within driving distance - both outdoorsy and cultural. We are behind the Catskill Interpretive Center which features the Esopus FireTower and some small trails. The Ashokan Rail Trail (Boiceville Access) is only 2 miles away. This is without doubt the loveliest section of the rail trail - perfect for jogging or biking or dogwalks. Dozens more hikes and restaurants within 20-30 mins. Can make recommendations. This really is the epicenter of the Catskills.
Use of Winne Lodge's board games, poker set, dvds, books.

About the host
Hosted by Christina Miller

Grew up coming to the Catskills and we were married here as well. Bought the house 11 years ago and rent it minimally. This is not just a rental house but a beloved cabin for our family so it is filled with antiques, thought out personal touches, and lots of TLC... not ikea furniture. We have made it personal yet impersonal so that anyone coming to stay can feel like this is their own country cabin in the woods. Our favorite guests are the ones who appreciate Winnie Lodge for its old unique charming quality. Winnie Lodge, for us, never gets old - and we hope you will feel the same.
What makes this property unique
You cant make houses like this anymore. The 1930s riverstone fireplace is hand built - stone by stone - and authentic and unique to the Catskills area. Support Post and Rafters made of actual tree logs.
