About this property
107 acre Jungle luxury eco-estate near Placencia Peninsula Belize, pool, jacuzzi
Instead of staying on the crowded Placencia peninsula, enjoy your own private 4 bdrm 107 acre solar-powered estate, just a few miles away. Great base from which to explore the Placencia Peninsula and its beaches, fantastic restaurants, Hopkins, all of southern Belize. Plan as many or as few activities as you prefer during the day, then come back and luxuriate in your private Garden of Eden.
Ideal for large families/small groups.
The pool area and hot tub are heavenly! Huge deck with cabana and barbecue. The night lighting is spectacular!
Wander through our 20 acre organic exotic fruit garden (293 varieties of exotic fruit) and 80+ acre rainforest habitat (250+ species of exotic birds). Fantastic birding!
Splash in our creek, only 10-15 min walk from the house.
The space:
Luxurious three bedrooms upstairs (king & two queen beds) with a self-standing independent downstairs unit (king bed). Private elevated plunge pool and huge deck with cabana located between the two levels.
The house was fully renovated in late 2023. All new furniture and appliances!
The large upstairs living, dining and kitchen area has a magnificent cathedral ceiling. The fully equipped kitchen has an island with beautiful quartz counter tops. Ten person dining room table. Washer/drier room.
A sliding door connects the living/dining area to a huge walk-out balcony with swing chair and pick-nick table from where you have a marvelous view of a big garden, the fruit trees, the Mayan mountains, and fabulous sunsets. A short flight of stairs leads direct to the pool, deck and fountain.
Watch the parrots, toucans and other exotic birds direct from your deck! If you wake up early morning and just lie in bed, most days you will be treated to a beautiful avian concert! On occasion, howler monkeys may be heard from the deck!
Amazing stargazing on a clear night!
The entire house, including air conditioners, is powered by our solar system. (We are connected to the grid for back-up).
The house is decorated with original art from some of the best Belizean contemporary artists (Anton Leslie, Ernesto Gomez, Sami).
Furniture is handmade from solid mahogany, rosewood or other local hardwoods.
Our farm manager and his wife, who live in a separate house 4 minutes walk away, are also on standby to make your stay as enjoyable as possible, and yet far enough to give you a sense of total privacy!
One of the best birders in Belize is available to provide birding tours within our own private rainforest (extra but reasonable charges apply), or to take you to parks and other nearby birding destinations. (Extra costs apply).
Guests will have access to the entire main building with the exception of two small storage areas.
We are happy to provide you with a free tour of the all-organic fruit farm and/or the rainforest.
We highly recommend that you rent a car (we can get you in touch with rental car companies). Note: there is no shopping within walking distance.
Our location provides a fantastic base of operations from which to explore southern Belize--beaches, jungle and Mayan ruins! (See our guidebook).
We are a 25 minutes’ drive to gorgeous beaches and less than one hour drive to the resort towns of Placencia and Hopkins. These are easy day trips or half day trips! Within a one-hour drive you will also find horseback riding, scuba diving, snorkelling, bowling, zip-lining, tubing, etc. We have also arranged access for our guests to a seaside resort only 25-minute drive away, with an expansive sandy beach, with a bar, and beach chairs.
As for jungle destinations we are only a few minutes drive to Mayan World (zip lining, waterfall and trails), 40 minutes drive Cockscombe Jaguar Reserve (trails, river tubing) and Red Bank (viewing scarlet Macaws. We are about 2 hours drive to ATM, where you will feel like Indiana Jones hiking through underground river caves, while viewing archeological remains.
We are about 40 minutes drive to the Mayan ruins at Nim Li Punit and Labuntum, ruins of medium significance, and about 2 hours to Xunantunich, one of the most significant Mayan ruins in the region.

About the host
Hosted by Les Nemethy

I was born in Ontario, Canada, not far from Niagara Falls. Have lived in Australia, India, Switzerland, US and Hungary. I enjoy traveling, have visited over 150 countries. A few years ago I began doing long (1000 mile plus) bike trips.
Now I have taken particular interest in creating my own little garden of Eden here in Belize, a 77 acre estate. Those of you who decide to stay here will not be experiencing mass-tourism, some run-of-the-mill offering, but something truly one-of-a-kind. I enjoy the experience of playing host on this particular property, and to helping our guests experience Belize at an entirely different level.
One of my most memorable experiences was watching the little girl of one of our newly arriving guests as she was coming up the stairs. The look of awe and amazement on her face was truly unforgettable!
We invite you to come! Enjoy and experience it for yourselves!

Why they chose this property
A private home in the midst of 77 acres. Everything is green, flowers are lush, it's like a botanical garden. One of the most biodiverse places in the world!
A fifteen minute walk, all the time on our property, takes you to a creek, where you can splash in the water.
Yet at the same time, you can be on the Placencia Peninsula in less than half an hour, experience the beautiful beaches and Caribbean Sea.

What makes this property unique
Where else in the world can you have a private 50 acre rainforest with a creek and network of trails, a private 20 acre fruit orchard, and a private pool and hot-tub with huge deck and cabana?
For a family or small group, this can be a totally private, luxurious and unique experience!
Our location is amazingly centrally located to take advantage of Mayan ruins, a myriad of activities, beaches and restaurants within a one hour driving radius. I have heard from a number of guests who intended to use our property for touring southern Belize, but they couldn't get themselves to leave the property, enjoying the pool, hot tub and grounds.
Our property is on the "jaguar corridor", the path that jaguars walk up and down Belize. While my wife and I have never seen a jaguar on the property, we were recently so sad to lose a dog to a jaguar. (Don't worry--jaguars avoid people! But if you bring a dog, don't let it off a leash in the rainforest).
Our property is a certified birding hotspot on e-bird: we estimate over 250 species estimated to visit our property on an annual basis, including migratory birds.
Have fresh organic fruit and vegetables delivered to your door every morning, picked earlier the same day from our fully organic farm.
Options (at additional cost):
1. Our birder can to take you on birding tours (on or off our property),
2. Our cook can prepare a meal or provide multiple meals for you and your family or group,
3. Our team of masseuses can pamper you with amazing massages.
4. We can organise a dinner with a Mayan family, so that you can experience the Mayan culture, cooking and dance in a truly authentic setting.
