Needs TLC

We stayed in 2021 thought the place was fine but this time the main rug in living was so dirty we had to wear socks or shoes. Pans for cooking were rusty. Grounds were junky. It’s a nice roomy place but needs to be professionally cleaned

Quiet Retreat

My best friend and I stayed here while doing a training in Lakeside, CA. Our host was very helpful, but not intrusive. . .a great combination! It felt like a nice quiet escape from an intense training/workshop in Lakeside, CA. It's just far enough away from SD to feel like you're out of the noise and business of the city. It's also just close enough that you can get downtown in less than 30 minutes (I think the airport was only about 25 minute away). Only feedback I would give to our host, is that the house could have been a little cleaner. . .nothing too crazy, just not the kind of spotless you might expect from a hotel or B&B. Big bedrooms (with an ensuite in the main bedroom), great living area with a huge TV and all the streaming options, and lovely kitchen that was great for cooking at home if you're in the mood. Also, very close to many restaurants. Overall, great stay. Thanks:)

Comfortable home with a beautiful view

We rented for views and quiet and were not disappointed. 20-30 minutes to Midway and downtown. Beautiful city lights with mountains rising up on from and back. Nice kitchen and comfortable furniture. Lots of paintings. Clearly a home.

Amazing Views and property layout

We had everything that we needed and more. Three adults plus toddler, as well as had room for family to come over and do a big dinner and hangout. It was as if we were in our own home. Except way nicer art!! Definitely blown away by the location and ease of stay. Will definitely consider this place for the next San Diego trip!! Five stars. All around.

Great getaway!

The place was exactly as advertised. Very quaint and I liked that it was up on a hill where it was a little more discreet. There was plenty of space for my husband and two kids and I really liked how the place opens up right when you walk in. The beds are SO comfortable too! Jess answered promptly when I had any questions also which was very helpful. If I ever come back to the area, I would definitely stay here again!

What a view!

I stayed for almost a month and was very comfortable during my stay. The house was well appointed, clean and has great views of El Cajon. Jesse and Ray were very accommodating and great to work with. This will be my 'go to' place to check first if available anytime I come to SD! Thanks Jesse and Ray for everything!

Lovely location close to San Diego

Our family of four had plenty of room and all amenities plus a beautiful view on top of it. The house was very clean and comfortable and Jess was attentive but not intrusive- the perfect host! It was a special treat that the house was fully decorated for Christmas, as we arrived Dec. 26th. Thank you Jess for a wonderful setting for our family vacation!

Great hillside views back and front

We enjoyed our brief time in El Cajon. The house was easy to find and there were no crowds to fight. The home was spacious. Some workers put up a ramp for a handicapped guest who was coming to dinner at the house on Christmas Eve Eve. Nice touch. The Christmas tree and lighted outdoor deer were a hit with our grandson. We couldn't find a printed TV guide. That would have helped navigate the myriad Christmas specials. Overall, clean and warm.

Wonderful Vacation

We were very pleased with the place! It was spacious, clean and very tastefully decorated. We were so busy we never got a chance to use any of them, but there's a lot of terrific electronics there for entertainment. The views, both front and back, are really spectacular and there's a nice patio to enjoy your coffee in the morning. We had a wonderful time and will probably be contacting you again, next time we're down in San Diego! Thanks, Dave and Martha Rust

Nice location, great house, amazing views

We really loved staying at this house. It is situated on the top of a hill and so has superb, panoramic views of the surrounding area. The house was clean and spacious and contained pretty much every amenity you could wish for. The outside area was particularly nice and was a great place to sit, eat and relax. Highly recommended.

Wonderful place to relax after exploring San Diego!

We stayed for five nights and it was perfect. We explored La Jolla, Temecula, Coronado, Borrego Springs, hiked Iron mountain and spent some time downtown. It was more accessible than I even realized when I booked. Loved the back deck...great place to relax and lovely. Beds were comfy and nice to have two bathrooms/showers. We were able to do a load of laundry easily and made a couple of great meals in a kitchen with everything you need. Would absolutely stay again if in the area. Jess was great at communicating and quick to respond to questions. Thanks!

Paradise

It was really paradise house. That was my second time renting this house and was in a very great condition. everything was great: the house, the seen, the whether, and more. The owner was really admitted to what he promised. I texted him to ask him about some points in the house, and he was very fast to answer my questions. I would definitely rent this house for the third time in the future.

Comfort with a view.

The house was pristine upon our arrival. You can tell the owners put some real effort into making this place easy to relax in. With each room having its own bath room, it's great for getting everyone ready to go out to the local attractions. The kitchen was fully furnished, with everything easy to find for dinner each night, and my wife wanted to bring their stove home with her. With all the views from every side of the house, there was an abundance of seating, and right at the top of the hill beside the house, there is a sunset worth making sure your there for. And unlike most of the places we've been to in California, the few neighbors we met were great. And one of them even saved the day when a family members car broke down. I'd like to say thanks again to the owners, for your accommodations, that surpassed anyone else we've rented from, and to Bryan for helping us make sure our whole family made it back home.

Overall A Nice Place To Stay

Let's start with the negatives, which there are few and doable. To start is the location is in El Cajon which is about a 20 to 30 minute ride via I8/I5 back into San Diego attractions and beaches. It is an easy drive unless it is rush hour, but not bad even then. Finding the house the first time is a challenge even with GPS because of the road, Monterrey is a private road, and not marked. Once you find it, OK. The road up to the house is steep and not in good shape. Could use some patching. When you go, stop at the front door and unload before you go up the hill to park by the garage/stable. OK now the positives. The house is very nice with a nice open living/kitchen/dinning area. Large HD TV with 5.1 Surround, great hardwood floors, comfortable furniture. Both bedrooms are nice, first bedroom bed (east) is a bit on the firm side, master bedroom with bathroom bed is fine. The view is stunning as it is right on top of the hill. From the front porch you look to the North and East with a great view of the valley and mountains. Off the back porch a great view of the Mountains. If you are into outdoor cooking, the house has a great gas grill with side burners. All brand new. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you will need including a good selection of spices. The owner also provides bottled water and popcorn. I would recommend this place to family and friends. Jesse the owner is very nice and great communication. One do not miss place to eat is TRES Taqueria Mariscos Cantina. It is a small taco shop, inexpensive and fantastic taco, burritos and killer breakfast burritos. We ate there 3 times in our 7-day stay. So if you do not mind the El Cajon location go for it.
