Seaside's landmark Promenade (a mile-long avenue running parallel to the beach) is just footsteps away. Tillamook Head National Recreation Trail is only two miles away for hiking, and the town of Seaside hosts a number of events, like the Kitefliers Association Convention in October.

A great older house in Seaside!

We had a great time staying at the Governor's House. This is an old house with tons of character (even comes with the "old house" smell, but we like houses with character, and it was perfect with us. Large bedrooms for everyone in our family, a huge living room space, a small but efficient kitchen, and a very large yard. One evening we had our extended family over (about 22 people in all) and there was space for everyone. We will definitely be staying here again the next time we visit Seaside!

Close-in

Pros: Close to the beach, restaurants and shops! Living room, deck and backyard were spacious. Cons: Old dishwasher (although seemed to work), small closed off kitchen, not very clean (Vacasa team was great about getting this remedied, however who wants to deal with all of that when you have a 4pm check-in and are traveling with 9 people). Overall we had a good experience, enjoyed our time, and Vacasa was great.

Perfect for families!

Great location and spacious home with plenty of room for everyone! Our family of 5 (2 adults, 2 teens and a 9yr old) had a blast staying in this charming older home. Within walking distance to all the shops (less than 10mins), and just a couple blocks from the beach! We loved staying here and hope to come back next summer!

Birthday Vacation

My grandchildren think the house is haunted. They were scared to sleep in their room. You can hear everyone walking. The house creaked. There was lots of room for our large family. The yard is very nice and fenced.

Great old home with fantastic yard.

Showed up with 10 folks 6 adults 4 kids. This grand old beauty was able to sleep us all just fine. The yard is gigantic and the kids played hide and seek all day long. Great location quick to the beach and Broadway. All sorts of usable items from kitchen and games to beach items. She showing some wear, this grand old dame, but for a vacation she was perfect.

Housekeeping

The master bedroom sheets had hair and were dirty. Living room table wasn’t cleaned off and had candy wrappers all over . Love that it was by the beach and other then house keeping love the stay.

Great Location, Space, & Price

Overall this is a great place to stay. It’s difficult to find a decent house so close to the beach with this kind of space. The yard and balcony are also big pluses. The House is definitely dated and a little rough around the edges. It’s also a shame that there’s no washer/dryer available. But overall we had a great experience and the house worked well for a family with small children.

Wonderful!

The house was very cozy and inviting. It's very spacious and with 4 teenage girls, all had their choice of rooms and they all had bathrooms. The only thing I could suggest is Roku, cable or satellite. TV's all had DVD players, however, only 1 worked. All and all the house was very well set up. Thank You for a fantastic Spring Break!

seaside stay

very spacey and lots of room to lounge. Unfortunately, the house is just too old. It's a great value for the space but certain areas were just falling apart (deck was about to tilt over from rot). No screens for circulation. was a bit too hot during the summer days. The surprise was that it had plenty of kitchen tools to cook for the family. If they invested in upgrade, could charge more and guest will pay more. Still I'd stay again for sure.

Good location

Couldn’t use upper deck as railing is about to fall off, pretty scary and a disappointment as that is where the view of the ocean is for some of our party that have a hard time making it to the beach. Plumbing is loud, beds are less than comfortable (as previous reviewers have mentioned). Really needs access to a washer and dryer for a big family. I wouldn’t rent again due to that… Having said that, the house is a good size, great location to be close to town and the beach, big yard, plenty of kitchen supplies for a family of 10. Overall a good experience, and with a few repairs and updates it would be amazing place to stay!

Beautiful history

We loved the history and nostalgia of this house! We are a large group of 10 that attend rod run every year, but have recently started renting homes in Seaside rather than Long Beach. This house is fully stocked with everything you need, so we only packed clothes and food. Of course, cleaning such a large house is a likely a challenge and some windows don’t open (in the room we had) so my husband used a sound machine of the sea, despite being right next to the sea. Parking this many of us was a challenge as the garage was inaccessible despite the listing info. Beds are comfy, everything that really matters was good and we had a great time!

Grandma's House (and not in a good way)

This is a great location. However, the house has great bones but has not been updated. Windows are dirty, curtains are dusty. Bathrooms need to be updated. Too many dusty knick knacks and fake flowers throughout the house. No cable for the TV's. Cracked driveway, be careful not to trip. Steel, rusty fencing around the property makes the property look old. VRBO needs to maintain a minimum standards for rentals. I don't believe this house would meet their expectations if they reviewed it. And the black plastic bags filled with something and stored under the wooden staircase is a fire hazard. They need to be removed ASAP.

The yard was beautiful, but we did not use. All windows had storm windows attached. There were problems that were timely attended with SMS to Vicasa. Couches are old and uncomfortable. Good ofstreet parking AND a 2-car garage.

A beach house with character.

I loved staying in this house. If you like slick and new, this may not be the house for you. But if you love an older house with real wood and an old fashioned vibe, this is the place for you. The kitchen is well appointed, the bedrooms are cozy, and the yard is beautiful. Plenty of room for a large family.

Great place, small gripes

Governor's House Not Tightly Governed

The overall cleanliness of the house needs to improve. It wasn't gross by any means, but the floors were dirty, the green carpet on the stairs desperately needs to be replaced and the property needs to be fumigated for spiders. There were several in the house throughout the week. Perhaps some Home Defense around the foundations inside and out will help. Overall the house was fine. Pillows caused major neck and back issues for my wife and me. The beds were otherwise fine. The master bedroom shower needs to be looked at. We didn't get it to work until the morning we left. When you turn the water on and lift the plunger for the shower, even more water pressure gets sent through the bath spout and the shower head pressure is almost non-existent. For whatever reason when I turned it on Saturday morning, it worked, but I would have a plumber look at it. The kitchen needs pizza pans and a dough roller. Would be helpful for anyone who'd like to cook some pizzas or make some bread in the future. The location is great. Having spent many many summer weeks in Seaside, the location of your house is key. Being able to walk to the beach and to Broadway is a must-have and this house was perfectly situated for both.

Lots of space & great location

We loved the antique feel of the home, of you're prepared for that then you will too. The location was great, just blocks from the beach, promenade & shops. Enjoyed having the space, cooking in the kitchen and being able to play games at the table. Beds were comfortable too.
