About this property

Cottage on the Farm

Enjoy our cozy 1 room cottage that contains: a kitchenette equipped with a hot plate and mini fridge, shower, toilet, tv, and wood stove. For our guests comfort the cottage has a Tempur-Pedic bed in king length and queen width. Brand new renovation with heat and air conditioning. We are conveniently located within a half hour of Wintergreen, Staunton, and Waynesboro while being close to 64 and 81. We have ample parking and where a RV/Trailer could be kept short term on your trip. A dozen farm fresh eggs included upon request. *hens cooperation required. Our location is right outside of the national park, this makes our back yard excellent for stargazing. Many cyclists use our road for recreation every spring through fall. There are also 4wheeling trails located nearby. For dining a short drive to Stuarts Draft gives access to 3 Iocal Italian eateries and a Barbecue or head south for some authentic German food at Edelweiss. Further away you have Staunton and Waynesboro with several excellent choices. For your viewing pleasure we have an extensive DVD catalog.

To address our lone, recent, negative review. Its been bothering me that he didn't verbally or by text inform me of any rectifiable complaints despite speaking with and texting me while I'm in the house right next to the cottage during his stay.

Currently the cottage has wifi but the TV refuses to connect to it. Tried an extender to no avail. The TV will function when connected to a mobile hotspot like your phone and you can connect your phone to the wifi coming from the house and use it as a relay to the tv. Game Console or DVD player available upon request. This was offered to the guest. Sorry, my new wifi router doesn't like 100 year old stone walls.

The toilet tank was loose. If you tell me of an issue with the cottage I'll happily remedy it immediately. Which I did once I saw the review. Wiping the tank down doesn't make it wobble so I hadn't noticed.

I assume he means the mini split. It had some dust on it the swiffer left. I lysol wiped it down.

I know the door on the chimney says stove clean out, its not a clean out. Its the access hole into the original chimney I cut and then installed a service door on. It accesses the chimney pipe. The chimney liner is swept yearly. Its not clogged. Just dirty. I would't recommend opening it.

"Walk way is unsafe". He could mean the 1940's era concrete pavers that my bicentenial oaks roots have shifted slightly. Or the section of 'new' 1990's era walkway thats sunk a little to create a lip by the rose bush. Or the 1960's era section where I believe a gazebo was removed leaving an unusual edge. None of it is crumbling or shifting. This is a very old farm. I'm not going to kill those trees for a new walk way.

The front door opens easily if pulled to you from the outside or pushed from the inside while locking or unlocking the deadbolt. Having the door that tight is the only way I could get the very old door to seal on the weather stripping without installing a new handle on it. I wanted to keep the original door and handle.

You'll have to forgive the first cabinet I've made. It does make sticking your head in the sink more of a chore. Its on my list of things to do. Which when you live on a farm is very, very long.

I would have given a chair had I been asked for one. There are no extra chairs in the pictures and the whole cottage is shown. Its a small space. I fitted what I could, where I could. There are 2 TV trays in the cottage and if I can find a stool that will fit in the cabinet cubby I will add it.

No desk... what can I say. The counter top is the desk I used when I and my wife lived in the cottage. I sat on the bed when using it as a desk. I didn't claim to have a desk in the amenities list.

If you got to this point. Thanks for reading to the bottom. Hope you enjoy your stay. Please let us know if you need anything. We live a stones throw from your rural cottage getaway.

Great spot for travelers!

Had a great stay in this cute farm cabin. The host was communicative and responsive, and even shared eggs from his chickens! The place was clean, bed was VERY comfortable, and the location was great- close enough to major highways/roads to get around but far enough into farmland to get a real authentic experience. Will definitely stay again!

Unit was clean but needs to be maintained and more functional. Toilet loose, split dirty, stove clean out clogged, no WIFI so no TV or internet, walkway not safe, front door lock not easy to open or lock. Sink is not functional (cabinet covering it), no where to sit but a chair under TV, no where to have a meal but an uncovered table outside (bad weather ? ), no desk to use.
