River Rock Cottage is a fully furnished 3 bedroom Victorian style home. The 2nd & 3rd bedrooms are adjoining and entrance to the upstairs bath from all rooms is through twin bedroom. Youll have the entire home for your family and friends. The inviting front porch is a great place to unwind and enjoy the sights and sounds of small town living. Our kitchen is fully equipped for your convenience and has everything you need to prepare a meal should you choose to eat 'in.' We have a grill for outdoor cooking and outdoor seating on the back deck for dining. Our large dining room table will accommodate your large family gatherings! We have wireless internet as well as Roku TV in 2 rooms, with flat screen TV. We offer 3 bedrooms, one with a queen bed, 1 with a 2 twin beda. & trundle, 1 with a full size bed, accessed through twin bedroom but can close doors for privacy. We also an additional twin bed roll away upon request. Our downstairs bath has a tub and tiled shower. There is a new bath with shower on 2nd floor.. River Rock Cottage has all you need for your family. From the time you walk up onto the nice & homey front porch until you leave, your needs will be met with all the amenities provided. We believe your stay at River Rock Cottage will hold many memories and bring you back time and time again and that you will be happy to share your discovery with your friends! The cottage is located 1/2 block from Historic Harmar District. Just up the street you will be able to cross over into historic Marietta, OH where you will find "shopping till you drop" and many restaurants, including outdoor dining & pizza pubs. At the end of the bridge, you may rent a bike to ride the 'walking trail' and cool off with an ice cream or cold drink at the snackbar there. Just across the street you will find Harmar Tavern, famous for 'fried bologna sandwiches' and they have a nice outdoor terrace! On the corner is the upscale Italian restaurant which offers terrace dining, Spagnas. Busy Bee Restaurant, on the corner at Harmar District is a local favorite featuring farm to table eating, for a a quick bite and a hearty breakfast! The Aquatic Park is near and you can walk to it on the walking trail in about 45 minutes. Seneca Lake is within driving distance if your prefer outdoor lake activities. Be sure to check out the museums that tell of the historic beginnings of Marietta. Marietta also holds an annual Sternwheelers Festival in September with the BEST fireworks ever! A great cottage.

The cottage is very charming and a fun place to stay. Everything was there that you could need. The cottage was immaculate and every thing worked. It was very thoughtful of the owner to have snacks and goodies available. I would definitely recommend this cottage to others and we hope to return again. A 5 star rental.

Such a pleasant stay in Marietta!

My husband, two sons and I were visiting family over the holidays and decided to stay at this adorable cottage. It was so convenient to great restaurants, Main Street Marietta, and easily accessed from the interstate. Beds were so comfy, and my kids really enjoyed the Christmas decor and snacks provided. Everything was super clean in this historical home too. Thank you for a great stay, Peggy! We’d love to stay here again!

All the comforts of home

Lots of attention to detail

Peggy has furnished the house in a cozy fashion and goes above and beyond in providing food, drinks, snacks and toiletries. The kitchen is very well stocked. It is a short walk to the trestle foot bridge that leads downtown. Very close to several restaurants. Peggy was responsive to any questions or concerns that we had and made us feel right at home. Great value for a great little town. We will be back.

Not handicap accessible

We stayed at the cottage with our adult daughter, adult son and teenage granddaughter for six days. The host family very thoughtfully left eggs, sausage, bread , milk, juice and bottled water in the refrigerator. This is the first time in our many VRBO rentals to occur. Thank you! The description of the property and photos shown is correct. What is not mentioned is the very steep stairs to the bedrooms (there is an hand rail) and the very steep and precarious stairs to the basement to use the washer and dryer. I feel it should be mentioned in the description that this property is not handicap accessible for entrance or for occupancy. The deck and front porch was my favorite places to sit. The house is located near a busy street that is noisy with motorcycles and speeding cars with loud mufflers, however, we had no trouble sleeping. Overall, it was comfortable and convenient to nearby restaurants, bakery, butcher and downtown.

This home was a great place to retreat for a family of 5. It is near many restaurants and beautiful views. Our host had everything you could need and more. She also has written an amazing children’s book. The host was available and very hospitable. It was a wonderful getaway. We would highly recommend this VRBO.

We loved our visit to the cottage. It is a beautifully decorated restored cottage and the hosts went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. We enjoyed breakfast on the back deck and walked across the river daily for the shopping and restaurants on front street. Apple picking and antique shopping were within a thirty minute drive. We look forward to our next visit to River Rock Cottage.

Nice old house. Needs better seating in living room. Needs serving bowls in kitchen. Less linens so guests can use the dresser and closet space. Grill needs attention. Walking through anothers bedroom to get to the bathroom, not good when you have 5 adults staying together even when they are your own children. Overall our stay was good and the sights were worth some of the inconveniences.

Marietta Visit

Me and my 5 adult sons came for a Memorial to their dad and my husband. I wanted a home where we could all gather together. This home is very quaint, built in 1935. It offered us a place not too far from Parkersburg where all the relatives who came stayed. Peggy was easy to communicate with and asked if I needed anything she was just a text away. Peggy

Beautiful old home

We were in town for a graduation at Marietta University. The house was convenient lots of restaurants around to walk to. Showers were good beds were comfy. Everything was very clean. Host was gracious to provide lots of goodies for food.

My husband and I are retired and we use the cottage to visit family and friends while in Marietta. I love people and enjoy the outdoors. My husband likes to garden and hunt. He is a retired WV coal miner of 37 years and a Viet Nam war veteran. We currently reside near Morgantown, WV.

Why they chose this property

I fell in love with this house the minute I saw it. It was in need of TLC but was basically a one owner home of a lady who used to walk to work on the 'old' railroad bridge at historic Lafayette Hotel! We have worked very hard to bring beauty back to this home. It has been a labor of love and we love River Rock Cottage and offer it with the confidence that you will love it too!

What makes this property unique

This home is perfect for history lovers and nature lovers. The Muskingam and Ohio Rivers meet here..a 2 minute walk up the street will bring you fantastic views of this meeting!! Shopping, hiking, bike riding, swimming, antiquing, flea marketing, and dining all right at the front door!!!! A hometown feeling with so much to do!!
