We needed extra sleeping space for family over the holidays. The charming old tavern and added bedroom , baths provided a comfortable retreat and the extra space we needed for visiting family. This was nearby and most accommodating for the extended family. Would definitely stay here on another visit.
We loved it because it was historic with modern amenities. The front entrance was definitely not ADA compliant, but you could enter through the back. The inside was cozy and the gas fireplace was wonderful. If you love historic places, this is for you! We wish there was more documentation about house and it’s 254 year lifetime. We would absolutely go back.
This charming house was very clean and cozy. It was a great place to spend a few nights and is conveniently located not far from New Milford. The host was very welcoming and helpful!
I loved staying at this house. It dates back to 1772 and you can just feel the history. It’s also very comfortable and the air conditioning works great. The kitchen is modern. It’s in town and very convenient. Great views of the Housatonic River.
a cozy retreat from the hustle and bustle of the city
for a family of 5, this property provided amplecomfort and respite amidst jam-packed days of hiking, swimming, sight-seeing, etc.! the kitchen was the much valued heart of household activity and we highly appreciated the variety of appliances provided to offer us the most fulfilling of meal experiences. the house was also very well air conditioned, which was lovely after a long day out in the summer sun.
The kitchen was well stocked for us to prepare meals while vacationing. The road is lovely for a morning walk. I wouldn't walk it in the dark only because there are a lot of curves and visibility could be an issue. The host is responsive and works hard to get things right. The space is comfortable. Go into it knowing that it is an old house that is being slowly remodeled. Bits of the original dwelling are in place which adds to its charm. It is rustic but very comfortable.
The house was comfortable. It is a unique historical architecture with modern upgrades in kitchen and bath.It is not handicapped accessible. The pictures are accurate.

Disliked: Communication
I would not stay at this property again. The home itself had potential, but my overall experience was disappointing due to several cleanliness, maintenance, and communication issues. During my stay, I found that the washing machine appeared to have mold buildup, some towels smelled musty, there were dead flies in parts of the house, and food had been left in the refrigerator from previous guests. The mattress in the primary bedroom was also very uncomfortable and sagged significantly, which made it difficult to get a good night's sleep. The most significant issue occurred on my final night when the property lost water service. I understand that unexpected problems can happen, and my concern was not simply that the water issue occurred. My concern was that, after the issue was acknowledged and a refund for the final night was discussed, the host stopped responding to my messages about resolving the matter. A property issue can happen, but good communication from the host is important, especially when guests are dealing with a significant inconvenience. Having my messages go unanswered after my stay made an already frustrating situation more disappointing.Between the cleanliness concerns, uncomfortable sleeping conditions, and lack of follow-up communication, I was left with a poor overall impression of both the property and the host.
