Charming spacious house on private property with your own secluded beach (short walk to private beach on mountain lake). Well maintained and comfortable.
2024 was our second year back at this property and we had another wonderful time. The property is located in a triangle among three nice ski mountains and a ton of great hiking. The family had yet another relaxing winter trip.
Perfect place for relaxing and board games. Wonderfully decorated. Kitchen is very well-stocked, and the grill worked well. Thanks for letting us stay at your place!
We enjoyed the tranqui surroundings and the walk to the beach. Very comfortable and clean.

Amazing property near a picturesque lake setting!
I stayed here recently with a group of friends, and we were all shocked by how spacious and nice our accommodations were here. On top of that, it was just a short walk to an absolutely stunning lake. This made for the perfect weekend trip, and I would 100% recommend it to anyone!!
We had such a great time on such a fabulous and unique house! The house was spotless, well stocked and the owner was very attentive. We will definitely be back!
‘Cabin in the Sky’ was a perfect restful holiday destination with everything at hand the family cooks needed. Gorgeous forest surrounding one of the most pristine lakes with most comfortable chairs, terrific kayaks and canoes. We loved our stay and hope to visit again. Thank you!
We had a spacious comfortable house with just about everything a renter could need. The property was the star, though. The private beach was so beautiful and the access to hiking trails was very convenient
The was the first vacation for my two young kids (I have a tween as well) we wanted a place where we could enjoy some sun/water during the Summer without crowds. This was a great spot for that, the lake is beautiful and clear, we also had amazing star gazing at night. Amenities included things we didn’t expect like canoes life jackets and fishing poles. Would just caution others that there are poisonous mushrooms on the beach so that children can be monitored more closely up by the tree line - easy enough to steer clear of.
The house is clean, the owner was very nice and the beach is right up the road from the property. I loved that the beach is private and the house had a lot of wonderful qualities. The decorations and history of the house intrigued us. We will love to come back to visit again
We had a great trip, our son (2 years old) enjoyed swimming everyday. We had to drive the road as we was too young to walk it and we did not know how hilly it was. We did encounter a deer one drive ! Was great to have boats already there to use. Only thing we wished we had was a clothes line back at the house instead of using the chairs to dry our wet clothes. The sun in the back dried our things so quickly!
My family stayed for Memorial Day weekend. Unfortunately, the weather was terrible the entire weekend. We made the best of it, which was easy at this property. I love walking the road to the beach! We will be coming back and hoping for sunny weather.
The perfect place for a family gathering. Kitchen had everything we needed. We enjoyed the grill and sitting on the deck. We had a group of friends join us and they all loved kayaking on Millen Pond and enjoyed the private beach. We found several nearby hiking trails with great views. Alan was very responsive and accomodating.
Our family had a wonderful time staying at Cabin in the Sky. We were VERY impressed with all the amenities provided including toiletries! The house was very clean, had great decor and inspired us to get a cozy couch for our pooch as even his needs were met! The kids were enamored with the great collection of records that we listened to daily and the private beach was perfect for us! If you are looking for a quiet peaceful and relaxing vacation, this home is perfect!
Thank you Alan!
The property was a perfect New England winter getaway. The house had all the amenities needed to make our stay comfortable. The wood stove was an added bonus and kept us warm and cozy after a long day of outdoor activities. The house is situated perfectly between Pats Peak and Mt Sunapee ski areas as well as countless hiking trails. Alan was very communicative and set up our stay with ease. Highly recommend this house if looking to tuck away for a cozy New England winter getaway.
Being able to stay in a house with this much history was a real treat! When we spoke to the owner, who was very quick to respond to our inquiries, we got an idea of the history of the house and environs.
We also enjoyed hiking nearby trails and walking in the fall colors. The lake is a short walk from the house on a private roadway which we did many mornings.
The kitchen was very well stocked and beds were comfortable. An all around memorable trip for us!
Spacious, clean yet charming located in rural setting. Well-appointed, reminiscent of Scandinavian summer house in American proportions! Owner 100% responsive; many good suggestions for local activities near the cabin. A friend was also thrilled by the studio apartment, perfect for one or two. Labrador Juno loved her several daily walks to the lake.
We thoroughly enjoyed the restored colonial cabin on Lake Millen in quaint Washington NH. The home away from home was well equipped with many surprisingly modern features that helped us feel all the comforts of home but in a rustic setting. A wonderful collection of LPs and a cozy fire always awaited us after our adventure for that day was done. We highly recommend this property for anyone looking to get away from it all but also in need of familiar comforts of home.

About the host
Hosted by Property Manager/Owner
We have owned this house since 1982 and over the years have made extensive renovations that include many modern amenities. We have tried to do this while maintaining the charm of an antique house built in the late 1700's.
Why they chose this property
This is a historic farmhouse that was owned by one of the founding members of the 7th Day Adventist Church. The original church was built on land donated by this homestead. It is both historic and comfortable and the unique touches from the past include a hand made cobler's table, a wheelwright's vice, and a wood cookstove. These historic features don't interfere with the modern kitchen, and modern electrical features, such as DSL internet and cable TV.
We take the utmost care in protecting our guests and follow the Centers For Disease Control's recommendations for cleaning and sanitizing our property in anticipation of all guest visits.
What makes this property unique
The Cabin is situated on 10 acres of wooded land with nearly 800 ft of private lake frontage on Millen Pond. The frontage includes a sandy beach, small fishing dock, fire pit, float, two canoes and kayaks, providing privacy and water access for the pleasure of our guests.
