Great cabin, exactly what we were looking for! A bit far from town, but decently quiet and secluded. Very comfortable. Host was quite accommodating.

We were happy with the ease at the checking in. Everyone had fun and enjoyed all parts of the cottage. We were able to relax. We loved how close it was to all the Adirondacks High Peaks’ region. Thank you for a great stay.
Being silly at the entrance to the cottage.

My family rented this property twice over 20 years ago. It has been thoughtfully restored and maintains its' historic character. Other than the 9am check time out a wonderful stay.

Cute little cabin

We had a great stay at the cabin. It had everything we needed. The host was very good at communicating. Any questions we had were promptly answered. Very relaxing time and space. Short walk to the beach, which was small but perfect for us. Would absolutely stay here again. Thanks Ted for a great stay. Oh and the beds were very comfortable!!

adorable quaint cabin!

This cabin was perfect for our fall weekend getaway. It was charming, the fire insert was perfect for a cozy night, the canoe was an added bonus. It was clean and Ted was super responsive if we had any questions.

Perfect week in the Adirondacks

My family and I absolutely loved our stay at this cozy cabin in upper Saranac Lake. The beds were comfy, the kitchen had everything we needed, and the screened-in porch was a great place to sit and relax in the mornings and evenings. We spent our days out enjoying the park because this cabin is in the perfect location to access all sorts of fun hikes, swims, and other adventures. We would absolutely stay here again!

I so loved the decor and the screen in porch. My issue was that the hot water was not only hot but scalding! Not safe. There are over grown weeds are a problem if you have any issues with contact dermatology! The weeds are plenty. . The cleaning is iffy at best. I know it was cleaner when I left as compared to when I arrived. Beware to clean before using the dishes! The water is not that close so you want to use the boat offered be prepared to carry them! No place to put your clothes as the drawers don’t open. I would not recommend this as a place to stay!

Acceptable, if you're okay with chores

The experience is very much like staying at your friend's family cabin. Personal effects fill the space, making storing your own clothes and food cumbersome. The rooms are lived in and comfortable, totally kick your feet up and enjoy the fireplace. You will have to bring in firewood and search for paper to ignite it. Our dog loved sitting at the top of the stairs watching over everything, especially the giant spider and tiny mice. LIke any good guest staying with family, we did our share of light chores like sweeping, weeding, scrubbing the greasy stovetop, pots and pans, and wiping down bathtub. There are three tvs each with inconsistent and confusing streaming offerings, but you'll end up in different bedrooms anyway as the beds are not king and queen as listed; they are a queen and a full. Location is great, walking distance to golf and public boat launch, with canoe provided. It's very quiet, especially during the week. The Wi-Fi is good, but this is not a remote work location as there are very few functioning grounded outlets for electronics and no desk. Host is very chill, so much so that the new bath towels had not been laundered, and the batteries in the smoke detector died and triggered all the alarms at 3am. If you're looking for a completely restful vacation, as one would expect at high nightly, this cabin is not for you. However, if you're okay with doing some domestic work, like you would at your eccentric uncle's cabin, this place is acceptable.

About the host

I’m a musician, composer, and educator, active in all things music for 50+ years. Originally from Rockville Center, New York, I now divide my time between Kennebunkport, Maine, Saranac Lake, New York, and Bangkok, Thailand. My family and I have enjoyed the Adirondack region since my parents first honeymooned there in the 40s. Through VRBO, I’ve been able to share my love of the mountains and lakes with guests…

Why they chose this property

Upper Saranac Lake, New York, is a jewel of a lake. It is still relatively undeveloped, with a great deal of natural shoreline. I could lean over the boat and drink the water., that’s how pure and clear the lake is. My father purchased a cabin not too far from the lake in 1979.. When the cabin down the lane from his became available, I knew I had to grab it…

What makes this property unique

The cabin used to be part of the famous great hotel, Saranac Inn, which burnt in the 70s. There is plenty of peace and quiet, and Upper Saranac Lake is about a five minute walk away. Golf enthusiastss will appreciate the Saranac Inn Golf and Country Club, just across the street. The lake has great fishing for bass, northern pike, and Lake trout…
