we booked this place for a wedding our friend was having nearby - it’s a two-minute walk from the wedding venue, and you can hike 40 mins to a nearby cafe on the water!! this was good for the cost and provided us with the basics - electricity, water, and wifi. i’d say the only real con was obviously that cell service is nonexistent in this area, and the fridge would not close so we had to put the trash can in front to keep it closed. other than that, i highly recommend this place and overall we loved our stay!! if you have to attend a wedding nearby, this place is perfect!!

Cozy mountain getaway

The Nantahala Lake Hideout is the perfect spot for a Mountain Getaway! It has all the elements to get off the grid for a bit while still providing all the creature comforts you could want in a vacation home. The home is stylish and comfortable. Nantahala Lake itself is gorgeous and surrounded by mountain views. The home is just a short walk from the boat launch making lake access easy and convenient. I would highly recommend planning a getaway to this home!

Cozy and quiet, but not welcoming

Definitely working out some kinks. For now, the location and quiet is the best part. Bring your own entertainment and info about the area. No cell service, no wi-fi, and no useful guest info at all.

Beautiful but warning: no wifi or cell service

Great property for a really off the grid vacation. A little too off the grid for me but I booked in a hurry and the owner did say no wifi. There's also no cell service, so you have to drive to a nearby cafe to communicate.

Comfortable Mountain Home.

If you like to be away from everything and be in solace while enjoying a fishing trip than this is a nice stay. Be prepared for no wifi and poor cell service. Me and my son stayed in this home for the purpose of fishing on the lake and knew it was in the mountains. Driving wise, make sure you have AWD/4WD. Some locations will be hard in a sedan or sports car. The lake is beautiful and the scenery is amazing. If you are coming here for fishing, be prepared for some stingy, bougie, not wanting to work for food fish.

Has all the necessities plus some. Very remote location with limited cell service and wifi. Curvy, mountain roads with limited visibility especially at night. Beautiful lake. Nice weekend get away. Easy check out process except we had problems with trash disposal. Check out instructions require all trash to be taken to local landfill. But the landfill is only open on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. This was not mentioned in the check out instructions and left us scrambling to dispose of our garbage bags with no cell service. Our only other complaint is that the house was very moist/damp and could benefit from a dehumidifier during the warmer months. Overall we had a good stay and it served its purpose for our stay.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your detailed feedback. We're glad to hear that the home had all the necessities and that you enjoyed the beautiful lake and easy check-out process overall. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience you experienced with the trash disposal instructions and the limited landfill hours. Your comments about the lack of this information in the check-out instructions are very helpful, and we will be sure to pass this along to our local team to improve future guest experiences. Regarding the moisture and dampness in the home, thank you for bringing this to our attention. We will share your suggestion about adding a dehumidifier with the property manager to help enhance comfort during warmer months. We hope you'll give us a second chance to impress you.

Topton cabin

No WiFi. The refrigerator door did not shut properly. A communication cable was ran through a window, so the window could not completely close which allowed bugs in. The outlets in the bathroom did not work. There were no curtains/window coverings in the bedroom. There wasn’t any place to hang clothes. My husband had to sweep the deck when we got there.

Please get curtains or blinds

The location was great but I felt REALLY uncomfortable not having blinds or curtains on the bedroom windows. Not having wifi or much cell service made the messages from the host pretty useless. It would have been nice if there had been a sign about checkout for folks anxious there maybe were misremembering the checkout instructions
