We live in Ohio, cold and drab as it may be, our lives are here our young adult kids are here, but we love AMI! My 70-something very active parents live over the bridge in Cortez. For six years we have visited them once or twice a year. In our January visit we spontaneously bought a little what we call a beach trailer and named her Coquina Cottage (my mom thought of that). We still both work, but wanted a little retreat near my parents where we could visit and each have our own spaces, and perhaps we could stay longer stretches and visit more often. I love my parents and want to spend more time with them while they are in good health for walks on the beach and Florida sunsets.

Why they chose this property

So we have been walking from my parents to historic Bridge Street for a number of years. And when we did we always walked through this little quaint trailer park nestled between Sarasota Bay and the Gulf. The trailers are so coastal and cute, each different in its own way. We would always take this short cut so we could take in the Florida colors and beachy decor. We love Bridge Street and now we live right next to it. The location is great. This is a short cut many bicyclers and walkers take. On our first full week there in March, my Aunt and Uncle who have a small trailer over the bridge came with their bicycle game and said they were the Sarasota Bay welcoming committee, the had been biking all morning, had lunch on the north part of the island and tooled by to see us! Later as we were relaxing on the patio my mom's friend strolled by, the next hour my dad's friend strolled by. People are constantly strolling by families, lovers, kids and everyone is happy! Because the sun is shining, and the breeze is blowing. There is a pub on the corner, we can hear them paying bingo in the afternoons and then on the weekend afternoons there is a band playing. We don't even need to leave our patio and have a front row seat. The Anna Maria Oyster bar is about a 5-minute walk down the pier, the Bridge Street beach bar is right there too, along with the Daiquiri Deck, the Blue Marlin, the Bistro to name a few or for a more formal evening you can head to the Beach House restaurant all less than a five-minute walk.

What makes this property unique

Our cute little cottage is nestled between Sarasota Bay and the Gulf of Mexico, each around a five-minute walk. There are a dozen restaurants and many shops all within a few minutes' walk. The best part is you don't need a car. There are golf carts that zoom by all the time, and you can hop on for a free ride, or you take the Monkey Bus around the island or hop on the trolley. Both the northbound and south bound trolley stops are two blocks away. You can visit all of the many beaches by trolley, get to a Publix or a myriad of restaurants up and down the loop. With all transparency as we would not want you to be disappointed in your stay, we do not have a pool, we use the ocean for that but we have the beach chairs, umbrellas, and wagon to pull your beach gear the two blocks to the beach. Also, note we have two cooktop burners and small baking oven, we are not equipped with a full oven and stove. This is not problematic at all; we have a large crockpot that we cook most of our meals or make small casseroles in the oven when we are staying in. This has not been difficult for us, and we are big cookers and love the creativity it provides but want you to know what you are getting on our end.
