Our spacious, "on the beach" property is located on the best position at Hoopers Bay, which is regarded as the best beach to stay on in Exuma and the only beach with resident GREEN TURTLES to watch, kayak or swim with.
The 3 bedroom apartment (each with their own en-suite bathroom ) have King, Queen and Twin beds which makes it ideal for a family. The King and Queen bedrooms are sea-facing with large sliding glass doors for wonderful views of the beach and also leads to the spacious sundeck with tables and chairs for relaxing or meals.
The calm Hoopers Bay is protected from the prevailing winds so the sea is safe for all age groups as the soft sandy 1/2 mile long beach slopes gently into the water. Besides a few private properties in the area, the beach is undisturbed and peaceful.
Our 1.4 acre tropical garden with palms & coconut trees surrounds Sandy Palms & leads directly onto the beach so in a few seconds you can be there. We have kayaks FREE for our guests to use together with beach chairs & loungers.

Fantastic Location and house!

This was our second visit to Exuma and our first time staying in Hoopers Bay. In our opinion, it is by far the nicest beach to stay on and a very convenient location. Peter and Betty's house is very comfortable, and has everything you need for a relaxing wonderful vacation. The kayaks and paddle board were so nice to have access to. Any questions you have or issues you experience are answered and dealt with promptly and cheerfully. We cannot wait to come back!

amazing property, beach is perfect!

Peter was an amazing host, gave us a tour of the house and the local spots on arrival. Everything was clean and there was a full kitchen to cook dinners. The beach is perfect, very private. We saw turtles and fish and took the kayaks out daily! It was extremely safe and welcoming. Three beds with their own bathrooms was a great feature! Location: The location is great in terms of access to a grocery store, there are two small spots within 3-5 minutes driving, one in Georgetown which has more variety is about 5-10 minutes drive. Other than that access to restaurants and bars is tough due to the local culture of "open when we feel like it." However we made dinner at home every night and when your sitting out on the deck overlooking the beach it is much better than being at an expensive restaurant! The house, owners and beach are incredible and we would highly recommend if your looking for a relaxing, beach vacation with no plans or need for lots of activities/bar and restaurant scene.

Didn't want to go home!

Our family of 5 (ages 12, 14, 43, 45, and 71) stayed at Sandy Beach this past week. What a great place! It's even better than what you see in the pictures. There was plenty of room for all of us, and we had everything we needed. The views were outstanding, and the private beach access was great. We loved having use of the kayaks and used them every day. Grandma even tried kayaking for the first time! We enjoyed swimming and snorkeling with the turtles too. One of the best parts of Sandy Beach is the hospitality. Peter, the owner, thought of everything and was available for any questions we had and often answered the questions we didn't know we had yet! He arranged to have a taxi for us waiting at airport, which allowed us to bypass a long line. He greeted us at arrival to introduce himself and the property, and gave us valuable tips on restaurants, stores and activities nearby. He is very knowledgeable about happenings on the island and helped us arrange some wonderful outings. Speaking of outings, as a group with 3 generations, we were so pleased with what the Exumas had to offer for all ages! The beach at Hoopers Bay was calm and the water was shallow. The restaurants were accommodating to kids and picky-eaters. My daughter, a vegetarian, had options everywhere we went. We all took Elvis' water taxi to Stocking Island where we enjoyed snorkeling, swimming with rays, and eating at the Chat 'n Chill. Peter suggested a boat tour with Robert's Island Adventures, where we saw iguanas, boated by celebrity owned islands, swam with pigs and sharks, snorkeled in Thunderball Cave, and stopped at a sandbar. Grandma didn't feel like getting off the boat at every stop, but even so, she thoroughly enjoyed the trip! The Tropic of Cancer beach with lunch at Santanna's and dessert at Mom's bakery should not be missed! It was very easy to get around the island by car. We are definitely planning on coming back to the beautiful Exumas and we will book Sandy Palms again!

We enjoyed our stay very much!! We appreciated having the kayaks and air mattresses to use. Petrer was helpful and we were grateful for the arrangement of the taxi service to and from the airport. The sea turtles that we observed daily were amazing!!

Sandy Palms is the perfect vacation home.

Sandy Palms is the ideal vacation home for a family. It sits right on beautiful Hoopers Bay. We swam with sea turtles everyday in the crystal clear water. Hoopers Bay is one of the best beaches on the island. Peter and Betty could not have been better hosts making out stay completely relaxed. They also have a car and van for rent which was so convenient. Our family gives Sandy Palms 5 stars!!!!

Fantastic!!!...clean, well furnished and in the perfect on-the-beach location!!!!

Our hosts, the Oxleys, couldn't have been more determined that our stay be special! They arranged transportation from and to the airport, bought some starter kitchen supplies, rented us a small van at a very fair price, and set us up with tours that were affordable. His suggestions for meals out and special places to see were spot on. Although no phone contact, Peter and Betty were always at the other end of an email, and responded almost immediately to any questions or concerns. There was plenty of warm water for showers, more than ample towels and a kitchen with all the basics and more. There was good TV programming, although we rarely turned it on. The air conditioning was two-zone and terrific. I told the Oxleys that the photos on their website don't do their place justice....we even spent some time taking pictures and sharing the results with them. The island is not 5-star glitz, but that was the furthest thing from what we wanted....we wanted to be travelers, not tourists. Thanks to great hosts, large and comfortable house and the BEST location, our week was a special one we'll never forget. Thank you Betty and Peter!! P.S. I've done a lot of traveling and Exuma has, as a group, the friendliest people I can remember. Life is simpler there and a great relief from our crazy normal lifestyles.

amazing stay at Sandy Palms Beach villa

What a wonderful stay at Sandy Palms Beach villa. First of all I would like to thank the owners for all the personal attention to details that the villa provided for us. This included free internet use at all times, access to local telephone calls at all times, constant hot water, a well thought out kitchen with every utensil and piece of equipment you could think of. Importantly a good air condition system that worked fully at all times. The villa was found to be also very clean and the owners were very proud of their rental home. Indeed for the two weeks we were staying it did feel like home to us. The location I can tell you all was superb with the most fantastic beach location for us on the island. The villa sits on the location Hooper;s Bay and is in fact central to the whole of great Exuma and Little Exuma. If you are wish to either just relax or have a full on adventure then Sandy Palms is a great place to stay.
