Cozy Studio In Private Beach Community Near Cedar Point and Kalahari
Your Property Captain's Quarters is part of Offshore Breeze — three spaces in the Mitiwanga community, a semi-private beach access subdivision nestled between the lakeside towns of Vermilion and Huron, Ohio. Every Offshore Breeze property is built around the same promise: a well-equipped, comfortable, clean, and safe space for making memories, with nothing left to chance before you arrive.
The Location The community's exclusive beach puts the Cedar Point skyline directly in your sightline — you can watch the coasters from your beach chair. The park itself is about 15 minutes away via the scenic old back causeway. Cedar Point Sports Center is roughly 12 minutes out, Kalahari about 15. Both Vermilion and Huron offer lively summer evenings within a short drive — the Angry Bull Steakhouse for a hearty night out, or Chez François overlooking the Vermilion River when the occasion calls for something more special.
Fly-In Ready This is how we think about stocking these spaces: imagine landing at the airport with your luggage and nothing else. You shouldn't have to spend $100 at a grocery store replacing things you already own at home — things you simply couldn't pack. We've taken care of that. Towels and blankets are here in real abundance — not one thin towel per person and a shared blanket. The kitchen is stocked with quality cookware, fine dishes, and high-end knives. The cupboards are loaded with spices, and fresh herbs grow just outside the door. Condiments are kept stocked and fresh.
Then there are the things you forgot. Not just shampoo and toothpaste — we're talking toothbrushes, razors, hair ties (consistently one of our most appreciated touches), Q-tips, and more. Families with infants will find a pack-and-play ready to go.
The coffee and tea setup deserves its own mention. We offer three brewing methods and two ways to steep tea, including fresh whole beans you can grind yourself and a rotating selection of specialty and exotic flavors. Guests who consider themselves casual coffee drinkers tend to leave with higher standards.
You bring what you plan to eat. We've handled everything else.
The Space Sleeping is flexible. A full-size cabinet murphy bed folds away when you want the floor space back — useful for yoga, play space, or just room to breathe. A short-queen sleeper sofa with a 4.5-inch cool memory foam mattress handles additional guests comfortably. Both have mattress toppers for extra comfort.
The kitchen runs on a full-size stove, over-the-range microwave, apartment fridge with freezer, and a Primo water cooler with built-in Keurig. A propane grill with full accessories is set up on the patio. Cooking a few meals in rather than dining out every night will more than offset any difference from hotel pricing — and you'll have everything you need to actually do it. On-demand hot water means no rationing showers. In-unit laundry means you can pack lighter and keep swim gear fresh all week.
Beyond the Walls Bikes, beach gear, kayaks, and an electric tandem are available for guests — the tandem doubles as a surprisingly fun way to reach local shops (small daily or per-stay rental fee). Tennis, pickleball, and basketball courts are part of the community.
What ties it all together is something harder to list: no hotel hallways, no strangers, no interruptions. Just your people, a space that was genuinely ready for you, and whatever you came here to make of it.

About the host
Hosted by Dwight Sablack
I am from the Mitiwanga area, These spaces once belonged to my father who lost a battle to dementia in late 2021. I wanted to do something to continue is legacy. When we decided to make them into Vacation Homes, I bought my experience and passion for cruising sailing to the design. We found ways to make tight spaces feel spacious. To balance the fine line between privacy and common resources. I enjoy meeting the guests. I can't et sail the world, so I can bring the world to me.
Why they chose this property
This was a simple beachside community with houses that were designed for summer only when built. Now it has become the ideal place on Lake Erie to have some vacation home options. Community private beach. Two local pubs just across the street. settled between two quaint lake side towns of Huron and Vermilion close enough to enjoy the convivence but far enough away to feel secluded. The only limitation is what you consider "far". Of Course Cedar Point and Kalahari are near, but the Lake Erie Western Basin Islands are just a little father. Cleveland sports and Casino is just a bit father if you are willing to make the drive. The sunsets are beautiful and the summer is like a warm spirit on your soul when you sit on the beach.
What makes this property unique
The Captain's Quarters was designed to accommodate small parties. Especially romantic getaways or parents and one or two children willing to bunk together. It is an open small space, but it has everything you will need to make a memorable getaway. The Captain's Quarters has the price and flare of a high end hotel room, but with the distinction of having a full kitchen, laundry, and fully equipped bathroom. You are going to step out your door and the adventure will be in any direction, choosing is the most difficult part.
