About this property
Stunning, Private 35 Acre Oceanfront Retreat
Gather at this secluded 5900 sq ft. waterfront home privately situated on our 35-acre oceanfront compound. Take advantage of the private tennis/pickleball and basketball court, small pool, hot tub, fire pit, nature trails and 300 sq. ft. architecturally designed treehouse. Access to the deep-water dock, kayaks, and 12' Hobie catamaran. Home has an open concept floorplan, features a pool table, Steinway upright piano, woodburning and gas fireplaces and a private office. Comfortably sleeps 16.
The space
The property is situated on a very private 35-acre oceanfront compound. The home consists of two buildings; The Maine House comfortably sleeps 10 and The Bunkhouse sleeps 6.
The Maine House
The Maine House is a 2-story, 4-bedroom 4600 square-foot home.
The first floor consists of the primary bedroom with ensuite bathroom, two sunrooms, powder room, dining room, living room and chef's kitchen. The kitchen is a home cook's dream, well appointed with 2 sinks, butcher block island, breakfast nook and outdoor patio eating area.
The second floor boasts 3 bedrooms, two with king beds and one with two twins. A 3/4 bath, a half bath, a private office and the billiards room which also contains a treadmill and Peloton bike. The billiards room also features a twin bed with a trundle.
The Bunk House
A new and exciting addition to the property for 2025. The Bunkhouse, currently under construction for completion by early spring, is just over 1300 sq-ft. Situated approximately 20 yards from The Maine House, The Bunkhouse is an amazing open space to gather. Bring the outdoors in by opening the two 16-foot fully opening glass wall systems on each end with full screens. There are two 3/4 baths with connected private open-air showers. A large entertainment area with wet bar, drawer dishwasher, beverage refrigerator, and ice machine. Open concept living space, this is is the perfect place to relax and have fun! The set of open stairs carries you up to the lofts which sleep 6. Just a few steps outside is a large hot tub to enjoy while taking in views of the water. Enjoy the smokeless firepit with breathtaking water views. We could not be more pleased with how this space is coming together and are excited, knowing our guests will make memories to last a lifetime.
The Tree House
The perfect place for kids and adults to play or snuggle up with a book. The 300 square foot treehouse is located several hundred yards from the Maine House, near the tennis court and pool. It was envisioned by the owner, as a tip of the hat to their good friend and Tree House Master, Pete Nelson. It was architecturally designed by David Matero. The Tree House features a king bed in the loft, accessible by built in ladder, two daybeds on the first floor and amazing water views. There is basic electricity but no "facilities." The large 25'x25' deck held by 4 spruce trees is accessible by a small suspension swing bridge. While we do call it the Tree House it is technically not but rather nestled within the trees on structural posts and requires no climbing to gain access. It has been featured in DownEast Magazine as well as Tiny House Nation.
The Rest
It's actually challenging to describe what this amazing, unique property has to offer. It is incredibly private, situated on 35 acres, yet only 20 minutes to town where you can find museums, great restaurants, and a summer music theater. There are nature trails throughout the property, wildlife, a small swimming pool, the private tennis court ( newly surfaced in 2024 with pickle ball and a halfcourt basketball court), access to the deep water dock, kayaks, paddleboards and a small 12' Hobie catamaran. Not mention the previously mentioned firepit and hot tub. It is truly more of a private vacation resort than a home to rent. The owner's home is privately situated at the end of the peninsula, where you both will only meet if intentional, which is always a welcome thought for them, they truly love sharing this wonderful place.
