About this property

Unforgettable Waterfront Retreat: Featured on PBS, Perfect for Families & Friends!

Captain's Quarters: A Historic Waterfront Estate on Linekin Bay

Welcome to Captain's Quarters, a legendary three-story private estate in East Boothbay that truly lives up to its name. Originally built in the late 1800s as an Inn for the Eastern Steamship Company, and lovingly cared for and updated, this home is the "real deal" for anyone who loves the ocean. Featured on the PBS series Getting Away Together, "CQ" offers a level of space and history that is hard to find elsewhere. Whether you're here to sail, swim, or simply watch the sunset over Cabbage Island, this is a place where family legacies are made.

Charming Features
Massive Wrap-Around Porch: This glass and screen-enclosed porch wraps around three sides of the house. It’s a vacation world of its own, featuring white wicker furniture, foosball, Ping-Pong, a library, and a dining area—all with front-row views of the bay.
A Kitchen for the Crew: Designed for large gatherings, the kitchen boasts a massive refrigerator, a matching freezer, two coffee makers, and a central island where everyone can gather to help with meal prep.
Whimsical Themed Bedrooms: With eight distinct bedrooms across the top two floors, every guest finds a unique sanctuary—from the magic of the Harry Potter Room and the hand-painted Butterfly Room to the nostalgic Soldier’s Room.
Deep-Water Dock: Extending into Linekin Bay with 10 feet of depth at low tide, the dock is perfect for sunbathing, fishing, or docking your own boat (mooring rental available upon request!). The dock is shared with one shy neighbor!
Multi-Tiered Grounds: The lawn cascades down to the water, featuring a dedicated BBQ area for grilling and chilling, a swing set for the kids, and space for croquet, cornhole, and badminton.

Captain's Quarters offers incredible value for large groups—renting eight comparable hotel rooms in the region would cost nearly double! It’s the ultimate setting for a reunion or a multi-family retreat.

Jeff spent a lot of time vacationing in Maine with his family. Boating is a passion and the location of this house is perfect! You will share the dock and float with Jeff and Audrey as they come and go this summer with their sailboat and motorboat.

Why they chose this property

Jeff bought this house because he loved this old house built in the late 1800's. It has been a labor of love. Each bedroom has a theme with wall paintings by a local artist. Audrey and Jeff have furnished the house with comfortable, livable furniture and decor. The themes of each room are unique! A favorite is the Garden Room we did for our daughter! We keep working on the house doing something each year.

What makes this property unique

This space is wonderful for large groups. There are so many different places to gather and socialize. There is so much to do here too. The house sits at the end of a very long private drive, a great place to walk, to walk your dog and simply enjoy nature. And the floating dock is wonderful for swimming, kayaking, boating, fishing and sunning. You will be very spoiled and will want to come back again and again!
