About this property
Stunning, Private 35 Acre Oceanfront Retreat
Gather at this secluded 5900 sq ft. waterfront home privately situated on our 35-acre oceanfront compound. Take advantage of the private tennis/pickleball and basketball court, small pool, hot tub, fire pit, nature trails and 300 sq. ft. architecturally designed treehouse. Access to the deep-water dock, kayaks, and 12' Hobie catamaran. Home has an open concept floorplan, features a pool table, Steinway upright piano, woodburning and gas fireplaces and a private office. Comfortably sleeps 16.
The space The property is situated on a very private 35-acre oceanfront compound. The home consists of two buildings; The Maine House comfortably sleeps 10 and The Bunkhouse sleeps 6.
The Maine House
The Maine House is a 2-story, 4-bedroom 4600 square-foot home. The first floor consists of the primary bedroom with ensuite bathroom, two sunrooms, powder room, dining room, living room and chef's kitchen. The kitchen is a home cook's dream, well appointed with 2 sinks, butcher block island, breakfast nook and outdoor patio eating area. The second floor boasts 3 bedrooms, two with king beds and one with two twins. A 3/4 bath, a half bath, a private office and the billiards room which also contains a treadmill and Peloton bike. The billiards room also features a twin bed with a trundle.
The Bunk House
A new and exciting addition to the property for 2025. The Bunkhouse, currently under construction for completion by early spring, is just over 1300 sq-ft. Situated approximately 20 yards from The Maine House, The Bunkhouse is an amazing open space to gather. Bring the outdoors in by opening the two 16-foot fully opening glass wall systems on each end with full screens. There are two 3/4 baths with connected private open-air showers. A large entertainment area with wet bar, drawer dishwasher, beverage refrigerator, and ice machine. Open concept living space, this is is the perfect place to relax and have fun! The set of open stairs carries you up to the lofts which sleep 6. Just a few steps outside is a large hot tub to enjoy while taking in views of the water. Enjoy the smokeless firepit with breathtaking water views. We could not be more pleased with how this space is coming together and are excited, knowing our guests will make memories to last a lifetime.
The Tree House
The perfect place for kids and adults to play or snuggle up with a book. The 300 square foot treehouse is located several hundred yards from the Maine House, near the tennis court and pool. It was envisioned by the owner, as a tip of the hat to their good friend and Tree House Master, Pete Nelson. It was architecturally designed by David Matero. The Tree House features a king bed in the loft, accessible by built in ladder, two daybeds on the first floor and amazing water views. There is basic electricity but no "facilities." The large 25'x25' deck held by 4 spruce trees is accessible by a small suspension swing bridge. While we do call it the Tree House it is technically not but rather nestled within the trees on structural posts and requires no climbing to gain access. It has been featured in DownEast Magazine as well as Tiny House Nation.
The Rest
It's actually challenging to describe what this amazing, unique property has to offer. It is incredibly private, situated on 35 acres, yet only 20 minutes to town where you can find museums, great restaurants, and a summer music theater. There are nature trails throughout the property, wildlife, a small swimming pool, the private tennis court ( newly surfaced in 2024 with pickle ball and a halfcourt basketball court), access to the deep water dock, kayaks, paddleboards and a small 12' Hobie catamaran. Not mention the previously mentioned firepit and hot tub. It is truly more of a private vacation resort than a home to rent. The owner's home is privately situated at the end of the peninsula, where you both will only meet if intentional, which is always a welcome thought for them, they truly love sharing this wonderful place.

Mark was a great host and the property was beautiful - great for our large family vacation. High quality furnishings, appliances, and finishes throughout. The amenities (pool, tennis court, kayaks, etc.) helped to make our stay special. Perfect location for travel through Portland airport - we hope to be able to stay here again.
This was an ideal site for multiple generations of our family and our dogs! The pickleball court was a favorite and the location was stunning. Many memories were made that we’ll treasure.

Absolutely incredible!
The property was pristine! It was everything we had hoped for and more. We were a small family reunion and loved using the tennis courts, pool, hot tub, sailboat, and spending time on the dock.
Mark and Buzz went out of their way to be welcoming and accommodating of all the needs of three different generations. We are so appreciative of their hospitality and can’t wait to return in the future!
House was perfect for our family vacation and you could not ask for better hosts. We look forward to returning soon.

5 couples enjoyed a magical 3 nights in this beautiful home and perfect location
Ten of us found numerous activities to explore and enjoy, including the hot tub, pickle/tennis ball courts, kayaks, access to/swimming in the ocean, walking the grounds, the pool table, and the wonderfully appointed kitchen that worked perfectly for our group dinners. The house had many areas for small or large gatherings - all providing views of the water. The entire property was beautifully maintained, and the rooms were very clean, well appointed, and perfectly comfortable. There were NO complaints (other than there wasn't a salad spinner). Indeed, EVERYONE commented on how much they loved the home and location, and how lucky we were to find this property!
A final positive was our experience meeting both the property manager and the owner, both of whom were welcoming, informative, and generous with their time. We were fully taken care of!
The house and property are truly spectacular. Mark and Buzz made us feel so welcome and were available whenever we had a question or need. The house was well appointed with all we needed, the internet was consistently strong.
The house/kitchen were comfortable and well-appointed, with a beautiful patio off the kitchen. We ate all our meals outside. The location is excellent, with great views on a well-maintained property. The property manager was responsive and helpful. We would definitely stay here again.
The check-in procedure went flawlessly. The host was prepared to welcome us to the property and show us around. (It's expansive with so many ways to relax and enjoy). We are a family of foodies. The Viking range, outdoor grill, pans, spices, and utensils were over the top.
Our stay was a wonderful experience for all of us. The property was spectacular and all the amenities that were listed were great! My grandchildren were constantly busy! The kitchen was definitely a gourmet kitchen! The owner and property manager went above and beyond expectations. Of all the rentals we have done over the years this by far was the best! All of us can't wait to go back!
Our weekend at the Maine House was outstanding. The host, Mark, was incredibly patient and responsive to my (probably too many) questions. One of the owners, Buzz, is a super interesting guy and made us feel welcome. The main house and bunk house are both beautiful and the 16 members of my family attending were able to spread out and not feel on top of one another. The hot tub, heated pool, tennis court and billiard room were all enjoyed extensively, and several of us got out on the kayaks, paddle boards and the Hobie during the day. They have everything you need in the kitchen - we had a great lobster/clam bake, and maybe most important, the piano was in tune! I highly recommend this place. We'll be coming back.
