House was fantastic! Everything was clean, beds were comfortable and location was great. Quick drive to Stowe for skiing and as a bonus there was an awesome BBQ spot right across the street with fantastic food. Would definitely stay here again!
Comfy home, close to Morristown to pick up groceries, dinner or treats from Goldfinch! Much needed relaxation and outdoor fun. Allison was always responsive for questions. For the light sleepers like me, if it's snow season the plows start between 4-7am all over town so bring some earplugs.
We had a wonderful stay at the Idlewild House for skiing and enjoying the holidays. The house is on a beautiful property, was incredibly clean, and had plenty of space and everything you would need. It also has the most character of any VRBO we've ever stayed which made it even more special. The location was great with a 20 minute drive to ski Stowe and less than 10 minutes to enjoy downtown. Allison is also a great host and made us feel very welcome. We would definitely recommend staying at Idlewild for anyone visiting the area.
We had a wonderful time and it didn’t hurt that it snowed every day. Everyone in my group raved about the house. The layout, the kitchen, the breakfast nook, the great views, the fireplace, great wifi, awesome showers, and so much more. A surprise bonus was a 2 car garage…a very nice surprise because it snowed every day. Over 6 days, My group skied the Catamount trail, from Trapps to the Craftsbury Outdoor Center. We couldn’t have been in a better place to make that happen. Lastly, the host was very prompt, helpful, and pleasant with communication.
Had no idea what a special home this was until we walked into it. We were in Vermont for a wedding (which had a very busy, 3 day itinerary), so was just looking for a place that could sleep 8 people. What a pleasant surprise to find a place that revolved around books and authors. Loved the themed bedrooms, all the books, the coffee cups and the quotes. Such a charmingly decorated home. Everything so well organized and easy. And even though we were very busy and the events we attended went into the wee hours of the morning, we just couldn’t resist the calling of the sitting area in the back yard to gaze at the stars. What a magnificent view! This house is a gem for sure!

Ann,
I'm so glad you had a fabulous time and enjoyed the home! And that you made some time for the backyard star gazing... so peaceful! Hope to have you back again, any time!
This house is full of books (rather than a TV in every room thankfully). The four author-themed bedrooms have so many cool little details. There are so many indoor and outdoor games and amenities - all in a beautiful location of several acres up on a hill with amazing views. The kitchen is very nice, as is the family room and sitting room. Everything is clean and modern. There is an outside deck overlooking the Worcester range. A note about staying in the summer - there are window air conditioners in each of the bedrooms – many rentals have no air conditioning at all. And normally you don’t need it, but occasionally you do. The house has a garage guests can use which is awesome in the winter. The property is about a 10-mile drive from Stowe Village in the Morrisville area. There aren't too many places to eat in Morrisville, and some are only open certain days. But there is a supermarket less than five minutes away.If you’re looking for a place where you can walk to a lot of places like restaurants, shops or walking trails, you probably would prefer to stay in Stowe Village. However, the downside to that are the crowds and traffic that go with it. The last time we stayed in Stowe Village, we woke up every single morning to construction noise. Not what we wanted on vacation. The care the owners put into making this house a really nice place for guests to stay and the quiet location, makes this is really an outstanding property where we would happily stay again.
