Oak Hill Retreat is located just outside Decorah. It is minutes away from the world famous Toppling Goliath Brewery. But there is SO much more to explore in Decorah! Did you know we have 3 waterfalls? This house is the definition of eclectic cozy. I have spent the last 6 years finding the right mix of color and light to give this space its unique personality. Staying here gives you the peace and quiet of the country but you are just minutes from town. Each bedroom has its own private bath. Main floor bedroom has a private bathroom with shower/tub right across the hall way. Upstairs bathroom has an attached bathroom with a shower. Each bedroom has a queen bed in it and a full closet. Note: I do live in the basement, but it is a separate apartment. There is no shared space. You will have access to a full kitchen, dining and living room. There are two queen bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The upstairs also has a sitting area with a desk. Note: This house is located on a gravel road, so please be weather aware. Property has three exterior cameras.

This was the PERFECT getaway for a babymoon! We were able to unplug and enjoy each other’s company before we welcome our little one. Elise was very easy to communicate with and I will definitely be trying to plan another trip back soon! We loved having a little outdoor friend to pet too :)

Thank you Peyton! Be glad to have you back. I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay!
Very cute property in a rural area but close enough to all of Decorah’s adventures. Our host was very accommodating and the home was clean and exactly what we needed for our stay. Would stay again!
Wonderful, quiet location near town. Lots of space for the kids to spread out. We cooked most of our meals and found the kitchen to be very functional.

Quiet location and curb appeal is great. Art work is random and a bit odd-with price tags for purchase. Interesting/creative way to market, but no theme to it. Quilted bows on doors, safari prints on walls, and porcelain dishes with fake flowers and half dead plants on display, just don’t flow for me. Woodpeckers on feeders would’ve been enjoyable to watch if you could see through the very dirty windows. Front glass door was filthy with dog slobber or kids finger prints? Upstairs shower moldy. Layout of house is cute and functional with bedroom and en-suite bathroom on both floors. Great loft space for yoga/hangout. Owner lives in site. Wasn’t disclosed until booked. Wasn’t an issue, just felt not clear. Overall 2.5/5. Could easily bump to a 4-5 with some clean up and de-cluttering!
We loved staying at this quiet, country location that was still close enough to places we wanted to go like Toppling Goliath and downtown. The local kitty cat came to visit us and was very friendly and inviting! We enjoyed the peace of no TV and had fun with the locals when we went looking for the football game to watch. We would stay again anytime and highly recommend.
We had a great time & will be back next year. This quaint home was a close drive to downtown Decorah. Many shops and restaurants to choose from. Great meals and coffee. Our host was amazing & the property was beautiful. Spacious home where we could each have a separate bedroom & bath! :)
Comfortable and fun country house in a beautiful setting. Close to Decorah and Toppling Goliath. If you stay at a lot of VRBOs, the accommodations are a tad spartan compared to the standard so come prepared. There are no TVs, which I should have expected, but also be ready to bring your own soap, shampoo, and coffee. Entry was easy and the wi-fi works great.
This house is lovely - and spacious-the proprietor has done a wonderful job of making it cozy and welcoming-beautiful artistic touches everywhere. Just a couple of comments - maybe some more kitchen things- a few good Tupperware type containers for leftovers, a couple more pots and pans and a list/book with instructions about turning on the shower, heater, air conditioning, microwave, etc.
We so enjoyed our trip here- it made the adventure so much better to have this great place to land at the end of the day!

I have lived in Decorah since 2008 and I work as a realtor, so please let me know if you have any questions about the area!
Why they chose this property
I enjoy living in the country but still being close to town. I have great neighbors and it is very peaceful out here.
What makes this property unique
The house is surrounded by woods, so you really feel tucked in. I've also had a lot of fun decorating the house with the fun artwork that I have collected and made throughout the years. Why be boring when you can be extra?
