This is an older mountain house. Incredible views and sitting out watching the sunset was special. The beds are not great though. The mattress is just two thick mattress toppers and you sink so deep into it.

Thank you for the feedback about the beds. We will be sure to discuss with the property owner.
The house was just as described. The backyard set-up was amazing and the view was spectacular! We enjoyed the fire pit and hot tub. Was wonderful to still have cell service and strong wifi throughout the house. We spent hours just hanging out in the main room and playing board games on the dining room table.

Beautiful scenery, beautiful house. However, there was stink bugs all over the house. The house was on the top of a mountain. My grandparents didn’t drive up to the house due to it being at the top of a mountain. Had I known the house was at the top of a mountain I wouldn’t have booked the house.

Hi Ashley, thanks for sharing your experience with us. Our sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused by the drive.
We have not had any prior issues with guests not making it in, as this cabin is not located high on a mountain top. Because the cabin is located in the mountains, stink bugs are common this time of year even with regular pest controls.
However, we strongly encourage our guests to please reach out during your stay if you're experiencing any housekeeping issues. We value your feedback and will be sure to share with our staff.
Great time. Floating the Nantahala and fireworks in Bryson City were so fun and this rental was the perfect home base for myself, teenage kids and their friends to have a great time.

Hi James, thanks so much for sharing. We hope to host you again!
The home is laid out perfect with a fenced in back yard. The view is amazing. We spent most of our time outside by the fire, grilling, playing darts and cornhole.

Hi Candy, thanks for sharing. We would love to have you back.
Overall we really enjoyed our stay. It had just about everything we could ask for.The view was amazing and there was plenty of room for all 6 of us and our 2 dogs. We had a couple of issues, but the property managers took care of them quickly. They were very good at responding. The mattresses are on the older side and the road leading up is a bit steep especially for a flatlander like myself, but we really enjoyed drinking in the views with our morning coffee. Also the hot tub was great at the end of the day.

Hi Sean, thanks so much for sharing and thanks for the feedback. We hope to have you back.
The property was as advertised (if not better) and was perfect for our family gathering. We had everything we needed (kitchen well equipped, plenty of beds, ample parking, etc.). The guest house was a very nice feature and perfect for the two parents and their two children.Everyone was very comfortable. We would definitely consider staying here again!

House was huge. Guest house was great. The backyard view of the mountains was incredible. There was an outdoor fire pit and firewood that were great to use. The backyard was fenced in which was great for the dogs. Outdoor dart board and cornhole game available to use. We had a great stay. The drive was was steep and rocky but we didn’t have any trouble getting up to the house with a truck.

Hi Jessica, thank you for sharing your experience. We would love to have you back!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. It was exactly everything we all needed. The view was breathtaking and the hot tub was an amazing add on. The kitchen truly is fully stocked of everything you need minus food. The location is very child friendly ( crib, toddler dishes, high chairs, children's books/ movies, games, etc). The fence in the backyard is perfect for children and pups. Our dogs are so happy to have their own space and the fire pit was a great touch! The location was perfect as it was just over 2 miles to River's End Restaurant ( amazing food!), NOC Outfitters ( great place to shop, get a demo boat or head to the adventure center for a kayak shuttle to the beginning of the lower nantahala run- our favorite). This is also only 3 miles from Endless River Adventures which also has a great Outfitters store, offering rafting, shuttles, etc. We were lucky enough to have the BEST all day lesson at ERA and highly recommend.

Hi Jamie, thanks so much and we hope to have you back!
Home was nice and views it offered were great. Seemed to be a problem with stink bugs in various places around the house. Not sure where they are coming in from. Main reason for 3 stars is bad interaction we had with a neighbor in the neighborhood. Our car got stuck while going out late at night to find a relative who was lost while finding his way to the cabin. My husband accidentally got the car stuck in some gravel. Because we were not blocking the main road and we didn’t want to disturb the neighbors, we left it stuck and came back that morning. When we got to the car that morning a lady who was with the HOA approached my husband and father in law and started taking pictures of the car with her phone. She scolded us for getting lost and “not following directions” we were given with the rental. Later when the tow truck came out she approached us again saying she spoke with someone and they were able to see that “you arrived at 8:15 and then left again near midnight” she kept prying at what we were doing which made my husband feel like she thought he was a criminal. Her overall demeanor was very unwelcoming and invasive. We felt like we were being watched and felt less comfortable coming and going from the property. While the owners and host were very apologetic about the situation, I think this encounter is still worth mentioning since this lady seems to live in the neighborhood and made an already stressful issue substantially worse.

Hi Betsy, thank you for the feedback. Stinkbugs are a nuisance this time of year and with regular pest control, they still come in the cabins. I want to elaborate to let future guests know this noisy neighbor has been contacted by other members of the HOA board about her behavior. Her behavior is completely out of line and this is the first time our guests have been confronted by her. I want to further confirm all our guests are safe and welcome at Smokey Vista Lodge.
Every year I organize a group of lovely ladies from the DC area for a long weekend of Whitewater kayaking. I look for places that have a nice mix of multiple common spaces that allow for the ladies to have time together as well as be able to take some time for themselves. This location was excellent and both location respective to the Nantahala outdoor center. It offered excellent parking options as well. Given the fact that we had multiple vehicles on site. The check-in process was extremely easy. The property managers are fantastic and super responsive. The rooms are extremely comfortable as well as the beds. The kitchen is beautifully outfitted for all of your cooking needs. The outdoor area has numerous seating and dining options and an absolutely stunning view of the mountains. Additionally, it was really nice that there was both a main house and a guest house option for the guest as then I was able to separate out the ladies based off of their personal preference of sleeping and companionship. The guest house also has a lovely view. The details regarding the road conditions and vehicle type was fairly accurate. Our group visited at the end of May early June with all vehicles being SUVs. Half of the road to the house is paved and the other half closer to the house is gravel and steep. We had no issues getting in and out. However, do you believe the listing if you’re visiting and snowy and icy conditions. Our group will definitely be staying here again in the future.
